I hate the running away and celebrating even before the judge calls a point.
Yeah. Even point is called, we shouldn't do that either. Street fights and many serious kinds of fight have no judge or point.
Obelisk Sparrow You're absolutely right, they drop down their guards after ""hitting"" (reaching) their opponents.
It's not celebrating, it's showing intention and getting out of the range. That is part of karate philosophy.

やった事がないから、想像でしか言えない。
当たらない突きじゃなくて、当てないんだよね。多分その難しさがわからない、当てて打ち抜こうと思えばいくらでも出来る。まぁ、やった事のない人にはわからないから、別にいいんだけど。

They have gloves. Why don't they do it the Shotokan JKA way- no gloves.
Does anyone else get the sense that Matsuhisa would get his ass kicked in a real fight, or even in the Octagon? He's one of the fastest in the karate world, but his techniques don't look like they have any power at all. Enough with point sparring tournaments where the ref stops the fight after one technique that maybe looks like it would have landed-we all know how unreliable refs are from watching videos we can rewind and play in slow motion. The karate world needs to adapt to the new standard of competition fighting set by MMA. Lyoto Machida set a good example years ago. Why have so few karateka followed in his footsteps?

スポーツ空手ですね。その団体のルールや技に対する認識度にあった動きです。実践としての武道となると、恥ずかしくて見ていられない。ヨーロッパ人にはうけるけど、一撃必殺を追求する日本武道としては邪道ですね。

そりゃスポーツであるから何の問題がありましょうか。
（念のためですけど、極真も正道も、柔道も皆スポーツですよ。ルールにそった試合である限り）。
実践としての武道は試合は無理です。どうしても形稽古になる。沖縄空手や剣術がそうでしょう。もちろん極真や伝統空手も試合度外視の本当の武道を道場で稽古しているかもしれない。それはそれでいい。
どっちがいいとかではなく方向性の問題です。
顔面打撃があるのにガードが低いのがまずありえない。スポーツ有りきで実戦とはかけ離れすぎ
