Germenwings flight 9525 was an int'n flight from Barcelona Spain 🇪🇸 to Düsseldorf Germany 🇩🇪 the route was operated by an Airbus A320-211 which was delivered to Lufthansa in 5 February 1991 and was later given to Germenwings on 31 Jan 2014 registered D-AIPX it had completed 58,300 flight hours with 46,700 flightsmIm command was captain Patrick.S age 34 witg10 years of flying experience and 6,000 hours on A320 of Lufthansa/Germenwings and Condor. first officer Andreas.L joined on September of 2013 and had just over 603 flight hours under his belt.
The flight had taken off from Barcelona at 10:01↗ and was expected to land at Düsseldorf at 11:39↘ local time there were 144 passenger and 6 crew members on board the flight at 10:27 the aircraft was at it's cruising attitude of flight level 380 and was redirected from Spanish to French territory at the mean time the first officer ask the captain to take a break and go to washroom and the captain leaves the cockpit leaving the first officer in the cockpit alone who than changes the door password and set to flight level to 100 and increased the decend rate to the max for the Airbus A320 limit varying from -1000 to -5000ft/min (deliberately) and sets the speed to 323knots just as the aircraft decending Marsille ATC detects this unusual behavior and calls the crew in but gets no response around 10:34 the captain tries re-entering to the cockpit but the door access was denied he tries calling the first officer in intercom but gets no response the first officer again sets the speed knob to 350 knots the captain tries desperate failed attempts as all cockpit door after the 9/11 attack has been designed to prevent unwanted Intruders entering the cockpit and prevent forceful attempts the Marsille ATC alerts other aircrafts in the vicinity to try contacting the crew but gets no luck the flight crashes in to a mountain Haute-Bèlone 100k/m (62mi/54nmi) north of Nice killing everyone on board😢.
An investigation was lounched which later concluded that the first officer deliberately took actions to bring down the aircraft the first officer Andreas.L was suffering from psychic depression and was said he is unfit to fly by Medical Authority although the medical authority didn't inform Lufthansa about any thing prior to the crash it was later found the first officer was in Curt with the captain as he started the landing briefing and had attempted to crash the aircraft previously on the first leg of the journey from Barcelona to Düsseldorf although the real intension may never be known to us but it concluded that it wasn't an accident rather was a deliberate action
(pilot suicide) and from that time many major airlines have made it mandatory for at least 2 crew members to be there in the cockpit at any given time.
