My husband and I were interviewed for Japanese TV on the Sunflower ferry last night headed to Beppu. When asked how we knew about the ferry, I mentioned this TH-cam page. It was our inspiration! We are Americans here on vacation. Thank you for all of your videos! 🇺🇸🇯🇵
@SoloTravelJapan recently, I was having an anxiety attack all day at work because, life... and this ridiculous, horrible song got stuck in my head and actually helped a lot. I kept singing it and I zoned out pretending I was on a ferry.
It's been a very heavy day. This is just what I need. I was scrolling for something and jumped at it. Those are the best creators, when you reflexively click on them without needing to choose
I've probably watched every video you've put out over the past couple of years, and I still don't know how you haven't run out of ferries to try out!!!
As a Canadian, who's never travelled internationally, I often forget how long Japan is. It might not be the widest country but it sure can take a while to go from north to south...
I love that bit where you were just wandering around an empty ship at 12 in the morning looking at all the closed shops. Moments like those are great when they happen.
Do you know there are ski resorts in Africa? True, some of the countries have high enough elevations they have snow. Some countries actually have snow plows. There are pics on Google of leopards in game preserves covered in snow. Teens in South Africa having snowball fights. It's amazing what the world has to offer.
I`m from Finland and there is a very different ferry culture here, I often take the ferry to Stockholm or Tallinn and there is a disco and many bars open late at night and most people party! 😁 It can be a bit annoying if you just want to travel and relax because people are noisy when drunk, haha! 😅
Wow, 5 curries in 2 days, heaven for some. This might one one of my favorite ships, I like the light colors. It makes things feel more open and calming to me. I liked the room a lot, spacious enough but not too much for one person.
You’re probably way too young but there used to be an American commercial for ice melt that had the “walk like a penguin” phrase in it. You reminded me about it when you were on the open deck lol. Great video as always. ❤
This brings warm memories of my multiple ferry trips between Beppu and Osaka. I am a happy solitary traveler who enjoys reading a book on the ship, or striking up a conversation over beers. Those were among my favorite times in Japan, and I encourage everyone to try it.
Five kinds of curry on one ferry? They definitely knew the Prince of Curry was coming! And I'd say you gained enough experience points to reach a new curry level.
There is a part of me that keeps thinking you'll have a friend jump out and make an 'AAHH!' sort of sound when you open the door, right after you ask us if we're ready. 😁
That looks sooo cold. Hey, a chair with no arms. Even this "man of extra dimension" would be comfortable. That first meal looked so good I don't even mind it was curry-less.
I love Japan, i used to visit alot. Beef curry, all those delicious pickles, the rice, the people too were so kind and helped me discover your lovely country
Wouldnt the gift shop have Dramamine? I love checking out the food you choose. Looked good. Do they ever serve pancakes, waffles or french toast on those ferries?
I think the gift shop on a ferry could make a lot of money selling motion sickness pills, ginger tea, peppermints . . . I'm sure a lot of people would want them on a boat.
Oh no! We need more curry! We must supply enough curry to fill the bottomless black hole or the entire universe will be swallowed! More curry! More curry! Hurry! 🤣🤣
You have great videos. My son moved to Matsue and I can't wait to visit and try a couple of ferries. Your food videos are giving me great trip ideas too! Thanks 😀
@luke144 it is not illegal to film in public in Japan. If it was there would never be any video news. This is a ferry and therefore not public property but private property. There are laws stipulating when strangers can be in photographs and videos of strangers and when you record in public areas you have to be mindful of them but none of them but none are outright prohibitive.
This was a very relaxing pleasant 2 day trip. Such a lovely room and great views via the 2 sets of windows. Good choice of foods but far more than I could eat for sure. I'm not a cruise person but I think I could do this. Thanks for the voyage. Bushyboy Oz
@kurofune.uragabay are you Solo Japan? Was positive that's what it said. Solo never shows his face so was surprised. Was this not you? If it wasn't, I apologize.
This was delightful. I am a NY Italian lady, aged 75, a lifelong fan of all things Japanese. I liked this video so much, especially the food. And I am SO glad you didn't keep us in suspense about the butter chicken curry. LOL
I love the little broccoli that was the 'salad' on your plate haha. This room was really nice, too! It looked really comfy and spacious and clean. Glad it wasn't too bad on you this time with the waves. Another great video, Solo-san!
Thank you for the excellent video! As an American citizen I was not aware ferries could be so large, and it was a enlightening and funny story. My dream is to be able to travel like this!
What a cool trip. Thank you so much for doing these as we live in the middle of America. We appreciate your knowledge of the pricing and the actual video of the rooms and the food. Great job!
$286 us with food included and that en suite cabin is an absolute bargain. there must be an error. Thank you for that informative tour of the ship. I am still amazed at the size of food portions that you can get into your mouth, dont choke. Phil
Thank you so much for this now we are planning a trip there just to ride the ferry. We will be traveling from the United States this will be a great trip for us...
Only 286 usd for 2 nights suite room, bathroom inside, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, this is really very satisfying and the best and thank you for sharing this video
You should get a motion sickness band and leave it in your suit bag. I've used one before and it actually worked pretty well. Just in case you forget the Dramamine
I loved the Suite, which has two windows. Have you ever considered standing behind the curtains at night with no light on the camera to see what you can see in the Ocean? I guess you preferred the European Curry. The Keema Curry looked like a "chilli" or meat stew. Glad the sea wasn't too rough since you forgot the Meds, but the waves were "Baby" ones. LOL 😂😂
Great trip. And yeah, my man doing Curry party onboard, even though forgot bringing seasick medicine. Overall great cabin choice for long distance ferry trip like this. Yeah, for addition, ship who passing Pacific Ocean always got crazy wave and rougher sea, especially during bad weather.
So enjoy your videos☺️ click on them straight away. Enjoy your sense of humour. I watch of an evening, so I have to be prepared with my evening dessert of yoghurt and fruit, so I don't get hungry watching you eat all that food 😂
Hello from New Jersey USA! I really enjoy your videos,I am hopeful to visit Japan soon;your country is beautiful! Thank you for your videos, they inspire me on my quest to visit 😊!
Solo Sensai, you have encouraged me to venture into Japanese curries. I have discovered those little blocks of flavour and thickening which turn almost any combination of protein and vegetable into a delicious Japanese style curry. Thanks for saying that! I hope you enjoyed the Sunflower song :)
That song will be stuck in our heads forever. 😂

Always that one lonely, tired sprig of broccoli. How I look forward to it every time. Je suis broccoli...
I spat my coffee when you said broccoli salad😁
Hahaha 🤣😂
I just like to imagine the look on the attendant's face when he was grabbing that single solitary broccoli out of the tray. "Goddamn TH-camrs..."
😂ha ha ha!
!!
The broccoli salad made me laugh, too. :)

I agree. Really enjoy the ferries in the videos 35:33
I am always awed by the volume of food you can eat. You definitely belong to the clean-plate-club.
Hes not bad on the tooth is he !
14:49 - I laughed out loud. Thank you for your amazing videos. The small points of humor is one of my favorite parts of your style.
Japan is a island nation and ferries are an economic necessity . Without ferries , life in Japan would be very difficult .
As a Canadian, who's never travelled internationally, I often forget how long Japan is. It might not be the widest country but it sure can take a while to go from north to south...
In comparison with size of Canada, Japan is small country) What city you from?
Canada is as wide as all out doors as the Simpson’s would say
I love that bit where you were just wandering around an empty ship at 12 in the morning looking at all the closed shops. Moments like those are great when they happen.
Totally. His videos are mesmerizing. Does he know?
Suite? Sweet!
I love all of STJ's videos, but the ferry ones are my favorites. Especially when he books the nice rooms!
I'm an Irish subscriber and I just love your travel adventures it's my dream to visit Japan some day ❤
Ishikari is a lovely ship, and the food looked fabulous, especially all the curry. 😊 Thanks for taking us along.
Very nice. Thank you. (I currently live in Texas, but grew up in Minnesota, I love that Japan has snow... cool!)

Sendai Harbour looks good. Japan has worked hard at restoration from 3/11

Oh yeah…..good timing. Just got back from a 7 night cruise and I’m so sad to be ashore. This makes me feel so much better!!!
Where have you been?
Your suite gave me serious Star Trek vibes lol. Definitely looked comfortable!
A sailor loves the waves of the sea
Yes, the sound of the waves
When the storm shakes mast and train
Hear the roar of storms
What a lovely suite you had there, looked comfortable and spacious.
The best thing in japan is that everyone cares about each other. Thats so comforting and i love that... pls stay that way japan :)
I do really admire that
That’s an unrealistic and romanticized view of a complex society. They’re not all the same you know.
