it's funny how in 4 years since the creation of this video, no one even considered that he could be shooting at the air just for intimidation....and he succeeded on that, and funny enough the video still works, cause they fell for it. he got nothing in return but still.
Even if it was just intimidation he was still awful for being an ass to him since you never be an ass to a guy with a gun and something to point it at especially if they're crazy.
Almost 16000 people liked the video and only about 750 people disliked it, but if you read through the comment section you might get the impression that more than half of the people watched this video hated it. I guess when people like something they don't always say it, but when they hate it they are a lot more vocal about it.
+Ian G That's very much true :) it's called a "vocal minority" fallacy. The ones that are satisfied with the way things lie don't have a motivation to be passionate about expressing it.
The first time I ever saw him was on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. This was back in the late 90s. He was one of the correspondents with Steven Colbert.
+TraceguyRune psychopaths. One of the first things hostage negotiators have to do is establish if the target is a psychopath or not. Apparently, psychopaths will toy with the negotiators if treated like a normal criminal and will even kill hostages "for the lulz"".
Funny, if i ever found myself in this kinda situations i might do the same for a lil extra excited moments...since i probably doesnt care bout anything else anymore
This skecth is one of the funniest one in CH. Whenever i watch it i still burst out laughter. I especially laugh at the last call with shouting and shooting on the buzzing phone. Its hillarious. The only videos that top this are the prank wars.
Negotiator from action movies, meet real life!! When I first watched this video, I laughed my ass off at how much of a blowhard the negotiator was and how it blew up in his face and then tried to pretend that things were going smoothly.
Well, that's not what happens in real life either. Most of the times the criminals don't wanna kill the hostages because it only makes it worse for themselves. So negotiators just try to keep them busy until the special forces make a plan to take the criminals out.
My criminal justice teacher was a hostage negotiator for a big city PD. The negotiators ultimate goal is to get the perp to surrender without incident. They see any need for an actual assault as a failure on their part. It's not like in the movies.
Fun fact: if you ever take a hostage (in USA) be sure not to harm them all police department policies are to negotiate and try to talk you out until you shoot. Once that happens it turns from hostage to active shooter and all officers rifle or not are supposed to rush in.
Rob Corddry as Ron Fox in "Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay" is one of my favourite characters in comedies period. There aren't any bad scenes when he is on the screen. And he made this movie into classic for me, wherareas first one, although enjoyable, didn't have me roling on the floor from laughter. I was sure that he got some award for that role, but nope. I hope they will make another Harold & Kumar with him (great premise for parodying "depressed , obsessed cop" cliché, seeing how obsessed he was already) or spinoff movie about Ron Fox made by good writers, because in H&K his lines were perfect, f.e. -Don't you wipe? -Don't ask questions you don't want answers to, buddy There are only two words that can describe that role: Starship Fucking-Troopers \,,/
You're looking for action without the patience to even listen to the words. In that case; go watch an Indonesian film called The Raid: Redemption, its a really good fight flick where everything goes to shit 20 minutes in, and doesnt stop.
Magic lol, yeah, I gave that one a try a few weeks ago. contrived, crummy writing and too many stupid people. A B Movie at best. A good effort for Indonesians definitely, but I found it annoying. As for me having patience, you really have no idea. It couldn't be any further from the truth.
Magic Yes I did. I watched around 30 minutes. After the guy shoots the kid through the door in the hallway, it degenerates into mindless fight scenes with mediocre choreography. I then clicked through to a couple more spots and saw nothing surprising or interesting. The first 30 minutes had virtually zero character development and I just didn't care about one single person on screen. It had the emotional impact of a homework assignment. Why would I want to watch the prequel or the sequel? I'm not saying it was horrible, it just wasn't really very good. Or even just plain "good".
eschelar Wha- you thought the fight scenes were mindless, but then you clicked through the sections with only seconds to get a proper judgement? Well shit, i referred to that because i thought everything except action scenes would be boring to you. Well, if you want character development (and you'd probably need to actually watch it a bit to get any development), i'd suggest the anime Attack on Titan. Might start off somewhat slow, but the many characters are engaging enough to be shocked at their futures.
These techniques should be applied in child custody negotiations. Firms like Brody and Kling in Washington DC often use kidnapping-like techniques to force untenable negotiations by noncustodial parents. Some end in tragedy.
I used to fantasise about Rob Cordry teaming up with Pete Holmes & Paul Scheer do a UK style 6 eps per series - 2-3 season run full of "method" acting, in-jokes, running gags andost importantly the DVD commentary tracks
Did anyone else catch the name (Sabian Roman) being from the movie The Negotiator? Samuel L Jackson was Danny Roman and Kevin Spacey was Chris Sabian. They were both negotiators. Nicely played, College Humor.
Lol you're trying so hard when it's perfectly clear he's doing a great job at it. This is a more accurate example of Clinton's presidency, thank God that didn't happen.

Edit: Corrected grammatical error
Golden Boy yup congratz on gaining hundreds of likes via a quote we heard at the end of the video itself. Really sharp.. 👍
yep i see the banners and colourful confetti. that an awesome parade!

Meek Mill: BLAP BLAP BLAP
NYPD: GUN! GUN! GUN!
Big Shaq: The Ting go SKRAAAAA!
Big Shaq: POOM POOM
Donald Glover: BABABOOEY BABABOOEY BABABOOEY
I get the feeling that most of the time a Police officer yells "GUN!" Someone usually gets shot 20 times and ends up not actually having a gun.
I just imagine the criminal actually just playing call of duty instead of watching the hostages, which left an hour ago, and nobody noticed
+ryan macdonald or maybe nobody would understand him when he would say that, he'd just say mmnmnnmmmn
it's funny how in 4 years since the creation of this video, no one even considered that he could be shooting at the air just for intimidation....and he succeeded on that, and funny enough the video still works, cause they fell for it. he got nothing in return but still.
SubjectHazard why?you mean to say that if a crazy person was holding you hostage and shooting in the air, wouldn't you scream? just out of panic?
+DragTV Actually didnt think of that, smart.
+DragTV but I think the idea is that they were actually killing the hostages
I mean the idea for the video. For the joke.
Yea....but what about the screaming voices in the background?
Even if it was just intimidation he was still awful for being an ass to him since you never be an ass to a guy with a gun and something to point it at especially if they're crazy.

wow congrats kid you know what jokes are.
