This is such a sweet video and inspired me to decorate around our mantle with dried orange slices. So sweet. Not only pretty but also reminds me of Miriam and her thoughtfulness. Thank you.
Oh Miriam, how clever, what beautiful wreaths. I love the little paper hearts you made, can you please make a vid so that we can learn to make them as well?🙏❤️
I've always preferred the look and feelings brought about with rustic, handmade, and old style Christmas decorations than the more modern, cheaply made, plastic production ornaments and decorations that are abundant today. Seeing your decorations made me feel oddly nice and cozy!
It may be hard to have the most important holiday outside your home country, so a little indulgence of online shopping is never a concern, hey, it is all about happiness, isn't it? Wish you happy in China. It is truly pleasing that you wholeheartedly bring Christmas feeling into a Chinese family, and many Chinese thank you for that.
You are so talented! Imagine getting all the pieces together and in so many art and craft moments, personalised and living in the moment in each endeavour... makes one feel so warm and cozy. You are very awesome! ❤❤💯💯👍👍👏👏🎅🎅🌲🌲💫💫
So nice to see you carrying on the tradition in your home in China. I can understand how much you miss being home with your family in Sweden. Thanks for the heartwarming video.
I love , love , love your natural decorations! And that little heart basket is so adorable ! You have such beautiful traditions to share with your new family and to pass on to your son. And it's such a great opportunity to create some new traditions too. Thank you for sharing 🤗
I LOVE watching you creating memories for your adorable family and yourself! These decorations will mean so much more in the future. Plus your son watching you doing this and later on helping, he will have such loving and tender memories!
I am making decorations in the Faroe Islands too. Having moved here a month ago, they will be a combination of South African traditions ( my birth country), British (my heritage) and Scandinavian ones Im learning about here. Ive also bought a small sewing machine and want to make bunting from bunched circles of old book paper, as well as British paper chains.
Bravo! Well done Miriam! I live in Hong Kong and due to Covid we are here for Christmas. We are Christmas-ifying everything just like you! I love to see what you are creating with limited resources. You are doing a splendid job and I will enjoying watching more of your Christmas preparations! Merry Christmas!
Thank goodness all the malls got their Christmas decorations up before this latest round of 'restrictions'. I guess St Nicholas won't be going to Discovery Bay again!
Nice Crafting~ I remember making similar Little Paper Heart 💛 Baskets at School in Scotland ~ Thank You for The Reminder I shall make some to fill with some Treats This Christmas 🍬 Homemade touches are The Best x
So wonderful! I never celebrated Christmas with my family as it's not important in Chinese traditions but I've always loved Christmas. I recently moved to Stockholm though and I noticed it's a big thing here. Watching your videos makes me want to get into the Christmas mood early this year, so I'll be joining you as of this week on preparing for the festive seasons! Starting with getting those window star lights this weekend :)
Could sees wonderful Xmas coming your way. You put so Much originality into your Xmas deco. The best one was the small hanging bag with sweets. Too bad, over here all we've are those from plastic bags , mainly made from china . Do keep it for next year ! Who knows many locals after seeing your deco. May start a new trend in qinghai making and selling these deco items. Still early yet to wish you and family a very happy XMas.. just in case I do missed it. Good night
I love how creative you are ! Watching you is so relaxing.... I love how peaceful your life seems.... ❤ I found your channel by accident and I absolutely love it !! Merry Christmas and Happy New year 🎉 Feliz Navidad !!🥳
Christmas and other special occasions comes out of your heart. We all can see that your little boy has been loved and you have given him special loving memories. It des not matter where you are in China or Sweden because the goodness comes from you. Keep the Faith, stand strong, and keep honor always.
God jul! This will be my first holidays I celebrate in Sweden as I cannot travel to meet family (I've lived in Sweden for 10 years now). As such I have no Christmas decoration, so since last week I knit mini Fair Isle socks and mini cable mittens and acorns to hang up around the house. And I am looking for a good recipe for Lussekatter, because it would be fun to learn to bake them. Until I moved to Sweden I had no idea saffron could be used for its taste other than dyeing rice... but I kinda made it some sort of tradition to look for the tastiest saffron bun every year =)
We love Christmas too especially when my children were young. Due to pandemic this year, my youngest adult daughter moved in with us and she definitely made my holiday more beautiful.
I used to make decorations myself when I was in my teens. These days I don't have the time for it cause I'm working. But it reminds me of those great happy days I had. It makes christmas seem like christmas. Thank you for your post. Brings back old memories. Merry Christmas again. Did I wish you merry christmas last video? Yeah. But nevermind. More wishes from me in Malaysia.
You certainly managed to create a better Swedish style Christmas mood there than I have done here in Sweden 😊⛄🇸🇪 Jättefina videos! Uppskattar dem verkligen 👍
Oh what delightful videos. I'm really enjoying the videos. With the co-vid virus so rampant still, my grown daughters and I decided to forgo our normal Christmas Eve family gathering, so I won't get to see the grandkids in person. But I'll be playing Santa and deliver the gifts and then we are all planning on setting up a Zoom call and open gifts then. I usually do fresh apple cider with cinnamon sticks in the crockpot. Makes a delightful scent and tastes wonderful.
Så underbart skön video! Jag har nyligen hittat din kanal och börjat följa dina videor, och jag älskar den här lilla julserien du gör, som en liten egen julkalender! Tack så mycket för oerhört mysig julkänsla
Mirian you could put candies on a long string and tie it around the tree or decorate your house. Another idea would be to buy Cheerios and make a long garland too. They have them in colors
Ahhh I tried this yesterday with oranges but it didn't work well I think I cut the oranges too thick. I wish I had watched this first. Maybe I will try again next week. Instead, I made paper snowflakes to hang.
hey we have a small box shaped like the same christmas tree..i also bought it from China 4 years ago...hehe 🤗🤗 nice to see ur videos everyday miriam.. greetings from East Malaysia..😊😊
Miriam, I don’t know if you’ve addressed this in other videos, but I’d love to know if you speak Swedish with Sansan and how you’re raising him in terms of two cultures and two languages (if so). We’re a trilingual family ourselves and it’s been a journey mixed with failure and success for us. It’s not easy getting your children to actively speak a language that’s not the dominant one in your community. It’s so much easier for them to understand but not actively speak it unless they hear it from everyone, not just one person. I’d love to learn how you plan to navigate this!
Well you're quite lucky with your microwave I must say. I tried making dried oranges for the first time this year, but though I set my oven at only 30 degrees (it's quite a modern one though it dates back a few years), it kinda doesn't listen to me and burns anything I put in it in an instant. So what I had to do is I let it heat for 5 min then let it cool down for half an hour, then repeated the process. It required constant attention and I seriously had enough x)
@@MiriamFollin Oh that's good to know! Most recipes on the net say 120 degrees is the way to go, which seemed way too hot to me (besides the fact that my oven is a weirdo) =)
Maybe you can get less than 100°C in the oven if you leave it's door a bit open. I usually don't make DIY decorations because the children in the last 10 years have made some at school and we have a lot of things. No space for more 😅
Hi Miriam, will your family be having mulled wine? In Shanghai and other parts of China during the Chinese New Year and winter, people warm 黄酒 "huang jiu" glutinous rice wine (the most famous is from Shaoxing) with ginger (sliced or in strips) or wolfberries (goji 枸机子). Ginger is to prevent the cold and stuffy noses. Wolfberries are for the rich anti-oxidants and is used in chinese medicine to protect eyesight. Wolfberries are also believed to be good for the skin. A warm drink is good for watching snow fall :).
What DIY do you do for Christmas or other holidays?
Hi - can you provide a "how-to" on making the woven heart baskets? So cute! I love everything you made in this video.
Me and my best friend did garlands of dried oranges and cinnamon sticks! The house smells so good and they look so cute.

I had to switch our oven on and off a lot too haha! Since 100 is the lowest it got too hot. A few were burnt, but most were fine!

If I decorate my balcony with Christmas lights I'm sure they all know where the westerner lives 🤭
Can you post your fav shops on taobao and also the link to your shop? I couldn’t find it from just search!!

I love si much your videos 💓💓💓 I love China too! Thank you:) Kind regards from Paris
Too bad I live in Hawaii island that we don’t have snow here in Christmas.
For me that's so strange to celebrate Christmas in a tropical setting! I can't imagine!
How long to bake the oranges
That depends very much, the best would be a lower temperature, 50 degrees, and then just keep an eye on them until they are dry!
And also keep the oven door open a little bit during.
😀 😀😀 🎅 is coming to Qinghai.
Do you have any link of the Taobao shop? ;-) I also wanted to buy some christmas decoration on Taobao i didn't find much reliable shops on it.
Christmas fun :)
What a beautiful video !
