I collect and paint the classic metal Eldar miniatures. For dotting gems and eye lenses, I highly recommend using a white acrylic ink (e.g. Liquitex or Daler Rowney).
It’s reassuring that even Duncan Base coats the model using a wasted brush that just covers evenly. Usually you see videos were they are being very delicate with a small brush just to do a base coat
Your paints are very under rated. By far the best paint range I’ve ever used. Can’t wait for Wave III to hit my local store. Unfortunately I missed the preorder on kickstarter:(
Duncan provides such a detailed brush stroke level analysis. Few other creators give us such a treat of a tutorial without a patreon. He does have me looking at those Two Thin Coates paints tho 👀👀
Their really easy to use and smoother then citadel by far I used the red, greyblue, bone and white color triads so far prefer them over acryl and citadel acryl is just as good tho for Matt
The green and yellow combine gives some details on this Striking Scorpion miniature. This is a good guide to paint their elite chain swords wielding warriors in WH40k or Kill Team. Thank you for this video Duncan!
I’d love to see you collab with Matthew Mercer!! Would be amazing vibes and also he loves painting D&D minis!! You and critical role could be such a cool crossover🤩😍
I know you don't normally do the base in your vids but would love for you to include the tactical rocks in the tutorials. Mine tend to look very plain so I'd love to see how you tackle em.
@@gingerhammer8485 Ahhh..sometimes we do, but generally its down to filming time or we may have covered the technique in either the basing videos or other tutorials. IF its something really unique, like a Primarch base, then we go into full detail on it.
Since you have been doing this for such a long time any tips on saving your back from turning to dust? I've never had back issues but since starting the hobby I've started noticing cramps in the lower back and between the shoulders.
Its about posture. If you are painting on a desk, keep your back straight and place your elbows on the table and paint at eye level under a good quality light. Also consider getting a good quality desk chair with support if needed.
@@petertbbrettI've heard that, but I haven't painted in years. I collected all the models I'll probably ever collect at this point. Now I just play the game.
Great video as ever. I keep meaning to ask - I would suppose with your experience you can usually judge roughly how much you will need for a paint, but how much of what goes onto the palette do you NOT use?
Love the videos, even pay monthly on the website. Can we have higher quality painting techniques? Like infernal brush? He is next level. Or is this just tabletop quality for beginners?
I miss the old days sometimes,, the End Times videos were so great, especially Nagash. I love the long form videos where you paint up a mini start to finish. ps.. you should do a hang out and paint video with Peachy and Sugs! That would be so fun,, get the band back together man!!
When you called Moot Green weak I imagined a gang composed of Ethereal Green, Dark Angels Green and Death World Forest stealing Moot Green's lunch money and stuffing it in a locker 😂
Ah, Striking Scorpions. The ninjas that wear bright green and use chainsaws. Leave it to the Eldar to always embody the term: "TASTE THE RAINBOW." They're a great scheme though and the new sculpts are great (as were the old resin ones). A buddy of mine is a big Eldar player and he has a bunch of them. We went gold instead of yellow though. Thought that would be easier.
Using the green wash as a pin wash would surely have saved pouring it all over the model, drying time and repainting the green armor. Much better to use paints for contrast than washes that usually stain more than provide a nice colour modulation.

Any thoughts about One Source Lighting techniques?
Can you do a kroot painting tutorial for the new kroot models?
Another great tutorial!
The day you decide to retire that base brush, there needs to be a ceremony. We'll done! Very fun video.
Agreed lol

Awesome work!
Thank you! Cheers Mr Peach.
Can't wait to see you paint all of the new Eldar models that are going to come out
Long time Eldar (Aeldari) player since 2nd edition. I finally picked up this Kill Team box. Great video!

You and Darren are the Bob Rosses of mini painting. Absolute legends. Its nice to see you free from GW and doing the Emperor's work.
That green is beautiful. Made me think of the old school, Goblin Green. 🤘
There something satisfying about combination of green shades you are using on this one
Sure is. Im happy with the result
One of the first models I painted way back in the late 90's. Have been meaning to buy some more.

I would love to see a video of a tyranid from the Leviathan hive fleet!
We have some great tutorials on our website (duncanrhodes.com) for Tyranids including Leviathan, Kraken and Behemoth as well as a couple custom ones 😊
Amazing painting as as always! Love that vibrant green!
I just buy them what a treat from you Duncan.

Wow, thanks so much. Good news is that its coming to Gamefound in a week or two for those late to the party 😊
Thanks for the video! I always learn a lot from these videos!
Wow, thank you so much. Mission accomplished then I guess 😊
ayooo i just bought a box of them yesterday, perfect timing!
Awesome
This is fantastic work and easy to follow!

Duncan?! :) where can I buy the absolutly fab shirt you are wearing on the YT thumbnail?? I need one, please!!!
We will be releasing it soon :-)

The reason is because we have a section dedicated to basing on the Academy website and therefor the painter can choose the base that they prefer 😊
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA I understand, I was speaking about the "tactical rocks" specifically as those are literally part of the model.

Hey Duncan you planning to do a tutorial for the new warp spider models?........oh right 30 years and counting
Excellent, thank you!
You are welcome!
I wish these Wave 2 colors were available in the US. :(
Do we have access to more Aeldari painting on Patreon ?
For any Battletech players out there, this method also works great for Clan Jade Falcon, especially if you use the gem technique for the cockpits.
Funny cause thats exactly why I watched this video for ideas for my delta galaxy :P
Got some White Star last week 🤙
Awesome! We hope you like it 👍

Thanks!
Can you do a Dark Krakens painting guide please
I kinda want to paint my drukarhi this way.
It’s Eldar 4Life!
I love my Aeldari models. I hate the gems with a blazing fury though.
Tip for fast gems: paint them with a bright silver metallic paint, then paint over the top with a contrast paint.

There will always be left over paint unfortunately. I can get it pretty close 😊 That's why a wet palette is a great tool to have 👍

How do you stop a scorpion?
Just set it to scorpioff.
I was recently diagnosed with color-blindness.
It came out of the green.

I bet that it looks cool. Gold is a great idea
Noob question here
Is it possible to pinwash your washes as well? I understand it is more time consuming, just asking for a friend :P
What is pin washing?
the best
Amazing. Can we get Shining Soeers, Dark Reapers, Crimson Hunter and Dire Avengers.... ummm... I have an army to paint. Lol
