Best place to get airbags is on eBay. Lots of people there stripping down vehicles and selling parts. Those roof curtain air bags are the most expensive of them all. Oh and don’t forget to get your control module reset. Send it to Airbag center or MyAirbag.
Hey Tyler i,m still looking at your first vids of the toyota tacoma. i,ll be keen to see it once you,ve finnished this van. we have different names here that we know our pick ups for, they,re what we,d call a bakkie or an Ldv, its a very easy way to describe a vehicle in South Africa. the toyota tacoma is quiet similar to our hilux,s.
Where did you get the airbags from? In a similar situation and need to replace all bags. Thanks for the safetyrestore tip for the seatbelt/airbag module fix.
Best place I’ve found for airbags is eBay. People strip down cars and sell parts on there. Parts like that are a lot cheaper than from the dealer or businesses.
Looking good! While it wasn't the spec'd out model you were looking at, seems like much more hand-on and learning on this one vs. pressure washing mold out! I sure do envy your warm weather about now. We're in the negative temps most of this week!
Thank you! I am glad we actually chose this one because the other one would have been very risky with all the mold! It was hot today and very humid so that made it even worse lol. I'm hoping we can get some cold weather soon again lol.
Excellent execution of a devised plan! Tyler will be light years above his class when this build is all said and done. Built, not bought! Blessings and respect!
Thank the universe for me finding this, but I got into a wreck hit a pole with my 2nd gen Tacoma and my airbags went off and seatbelts locked up, im wondering if I send the sensor and seatbelts in and get new airbags will they deploy again if I don’t replace the impact sensors? Also if my connectors are welded to the plate as yours were on the steering wheel is it just as simple as replacing the connectors? Thank you so much I don’t really have the money to get it done by the dealership but also I wanna learn
I’m no expert but I’m sure the pros change the impact sensors. In my limited research, I didn’t feel it was necessary. As for the air bag, yes just get new connectors from safety restore. Oh and make sure you change the clock spring. We did that in a later video. It was very cheap
How much did the other silver tacoma sold for that was at the auction? I feel like pressure washing mold would probably have been cheaper and less time consuming than replacing airbags, but it probably sold for more than this one.
I don’t remember the exact amount but it was a lot more. You are definitely right about air bags. It’s almost not worth it when you have blown air bags.
@SwampBoysGarage ya I see you guys replaced the clock spring that's what makes me wonder about the crash sensors. Did you just visually inspect them? Is there a risk of not replacing them that the new air bags could deploy right away? I'm going to be doing the air bags in my tacoma I have everything else figured out I'm just stumped on how to trouble shoot these/ the risk of not replacing them
Good progress gents. This will come together in no time once the parts are in hand. Tyler must be dying to drive it around. I hope his Driver Training is going well.
Guys. My passenger airbag wires pulled from the connector plug when taking off my glovebox. Can you tell me which side of the plug is positive? ( assume the back of the plug that pops up is facing you)
I really like your thumb nail & also Tyler's Toyota truck is looking good so far but I'm wondering if Tyler is gonna be putting a wrap on his truck or just keep it white & I think I know that he would put a 1" lift kit on his truck. Great video like always you guys.😊
From what I've seen on other channels, the seat seam is engineered to fail when the airbag deploys and having "Grandma" stitch it up will create an unsafe condition. The correct repair would be a new seat cover from Toyota.
There is a big controversy about that and you are right. Main thing is to use the correct type of thread so it doesn’t hold tighter than factory stitching.
Father and son working together 😊
Looking to do the same, thank you for a overview guys!
You are welcome
Fun to watch
Thank You!
I love watching you guys..
We appreciate that. This weekends video should be really good. Hope to upload it on Sunday

Milwaukee ratchet is a life saver
Yes it is

Thank you Ithwitt!!!
Love the vids man 👌🏾
Love the Taco. I picked up a new toy myself. 1988 Suzuki Samurai. Been wrenching all weekend. Now time to relax and watch you guys turn some wrenches!
Love the Samurai. We’ve been thinking about that as a future build.
Where did you guys purchase the airbags? I will be needing some roof ones for my tacoma. Thanks!

That’s very interesting. I didn’t know that.
Love this. Creating memories you guys will cherish forever.

Thank you sir. Hope to do some mods over the years as I save up money.
Wow you already did a lot of work on your truck, and you'r getting better an better with your editing Tyler 👍
Thank you! I'm still learning the editing software so nowhere near pro lol
Those takata air bags
thank you for the awesome videos and not showing us 5 min of selling dang sauce ;) Have you listed how much you won the truck for?
Haha. Appreciate the support. We will do a full price breakdown at the end but we bought it less than half of retail.

I can't wait to see this one finished I think it will look great, I'm sure you'll good driving it Tyler.
What was the trick for getting the red clips out for the curtain air bags?
Oh dang that was a long time ago. I don’t remember. I think I mentioned it later in the video or the next video. Sorry.
@SwampBoysGarage no problem also did you have to replace the crash sensors? I didn't see that done in the videos anywhere, just curious
No we didn’t have to replace the crash sensor. We did have to change the clock spring and reset the air bag module.

How hardcwas it to line up the body lines for the hood and fender 9n passenger side
Wasn’t too hard. Just takes time.
@SwampBoysGarage ok thanks
Junkyard is your bestfriend

Thank you! And yes, i'm so ready to be able to drive it lol. Just finished drivers ed last weekend.
What was the outdoor price for that one at auction if you don't mind asking
I don’t remember right off. I think we went over all the prices in the last episode in the Tacoma series.
Guys. My passenger airbag wires pulled from the connector plug when taking off my glovebox. Can you tell me which side of the plug is positive? ( assume the back of the plug that pops up is facing you)
I’m not 100% sure and would hate to tell you the wrong answer.
Was the truck totaled? curious because i was in an accident that caused similar but based off the look less damage including airbags deployed.
It was sent to auction by the insurance company but they didn’t salvage the title. Not sure why. So I guess it was totaled but not salvaged
*any

I was thinking about a cement grey wrap but they are expensive. I want to do a 2-3” lift ad I earn more money.
@@SwampBoysGarage go for it because there's websites to get affordable wraps out there.....
Heyy swamp boys garage can you help me I need to buy the front end replacement and the bumper bar in the very front too please and help is appreciated
Try carparts.com that’s where we got ours
