Yeah, I think more people are saying that Arlong looks bad, because they somehow made Kuroobi look really good, so seeing the leader of the fishmen look just okay is slightly disappointing in comparison. Honestly, I think they made Arlong about as well as they could've on their budget.

So it looks worse, the story is worse amongst other things but with less or the same money you could idk make a game of thrones anime. No limits to the designs and locations, voice acting is cheaper, can run for longer. I only see negatives when adapting live action shonen animes and i see mostly positives when adapting live action or books into anime. GOT anime would slap. Lord of the rings anime would slap. Etc

Oda has long since said that Luffy was Brazilian, hence, the accent. Same with the other characters that’s why they are the way they are; Zoro Japanese, Usopp Africa. For the rest of the weird stuff like Arlong not being 9ft or w.e, yeah I get that, prob budgeting/didn’t look good originally, remember this production has been going on for almost a decade so yk there’s a version of Arlong that looks exactly like the anime’s. I remember when they announced the OPLA and then shortly a few weeks after the casting was released as well as the actors speaking about them being recently casted… so no. If anybody is expecting this to go page for page like the manga or anime you’re delusional, I hear this will be 8 episodes so by these crazy standards the live action will only go to episode 8 of the anime which would be silly….all they need to do here is keep the heart of the show good, the acting and fights have to be solid. With Oda having his hand in this the story will flow as needed for this version of One Piece
Luffy's English Dub doesn't even sound that bad tbh. It has gradually gotten more tolerable over the past 1000 episodes, but that's just me. It only sounds bad when he sings.

But as long they nail the behavioral traits of Arlong and his Fish-Men crew, no gripes with it whatsoever. The live action adaptation is not bad compared to other live action anime it has a high budget and good actors but after what Netflix done with cowboy bet bop I can not trust it sadly
In this case it has a real nerdy fan as the showrunner who is heavily involved in the fandom (you can even here him talk with Nux Taku about the bad adaptions that came before) and needed to convince the original author that he is the right man for the job. Every major decision also had to be approved by Oda himself. This seem to follow more the positive example of Sandman (where the original author Neil Gaiman also had much control) than the bad example of Cowboy Bebop (where the creator wasn't even asked).
People need to realise, to make a fantasy anime to live action is hard. The trailer actually showed a decent work by the production. I watch it cuz its Oda was on this project too.
The main difference between this and every other live-action we've gotten is that this has Oda heavily involved, the producer is a huge OP fan, the cast are huge OP fans, the budget is high AF and they've been working on this for well over a year now. Nobody is here to get a check and that's 🔥 to me.

I remember when they announced the OPLA and then shortly a few weeks after the casting was released as well as the actors speaking about them being recently casted… so no. If anybody is expecting this to go page for page like the manga or anime you’re delusional, I hear this will be 8 episodes so by these crazy standards the live action will only go to episode 8 of the anime which would be silly….all they need to do here is keep the heart of the show good, the acting and fights have to be solid. With Oda having his hand in this the story will flow as needed for this version of One Piece

Luffy's English Dub doesn't even sound that bad tbh. It has gradually gotten more tolerable over the past 1000 episodes, but that's just me. It only sounds bad when he sings.

It looks much better than any live action trailer that has ever come out and that's facts.. Also, sensei himself said he got emotional during a few scenes.. To everyone (including the bots at the Twitch chat), since you have no idea about it, Arlong is a Sawfish Shark (also known as Carpenter Sharks) and their nose looks EXACTLY like that.
So yeah, they nailed Arlong when it comes to real life. Mayhaps they could go with a slightly larger frame for the Fish-Men in general, since they tend to be pretty big compared to humans.
But as long they nail the behavioral traits of Arlong and his Fish-Men crew, no gripes with it whatsoever.

regardless i think its highly disrespectful to compare this live action to the rest considering how much love got put into making one piece live action. the creator is a huge fan and goes into one piece streams with one piece youtubers and talks with them for hours about one piece, everything gets run through by oda and they only do things with his approval, and they are trying their best to be as faithful as possible to the source material. NO OTHER ANIME LIVE ACTION REMAKE has ever been this loving to the source material. thats why this will most likely be the one that turns out to be the greatest live action adaptation for being so loyal to one piece.

The live action adaptation is not bad compared to other live action anime it has a high budget and good actors but after what Netflix done with cowboy bet bop I can not trust it sadly
In this case it has a real nerdy fan as the showrunner who is heavily involved in the fandom (you can even here him talk with Nux Taku about the bad adaptions that came before) and needed to convince the original author that he is the right man for the job. Every major decision also had to be approved by Oda himself. This seem to follow more the positive example of Sandman (where the original author Neil Gaiman also had much control) than the bad example of Cowboy Bebop (where the creator wasn't even asked).
People need to realise, to make a fantasy anime to live action is hard. The trailer actually showed a decent work by the production. I watch it cuz its Oda was on this project too.
The main difference between this and every other live-action we've gotten is that this has Oda heavily involved, the producer is a huge OP fan, the cast are huge OP fans, the budget is high AF and they've been working on this for well over a year now. Nobody is here to get a check and that's 🔥 to me.
