Wow... just wow. Calli is always blowing us away and then she drops this on us. Such a hard hitter - as with all of her songs - and we felt that a million times over. I feel like this is about her reminiscing about her pre-Mori Calliope rap days. She left her old crew behind and when covid hit, a lot of them couldn't play the bars anymore and had to leave the dream behind to keep making a living while she succeeded and got to where she is now. She feels guilty in a sense, somewhat regretful, wonders how things might've been if she'd continued as she was then. But at the same time she's living her dream with new friends and a (mostly) new audience. There's a ton to unpack here and timing the release with the end of Coco's free chat fit the theme of saying "goodbye" to old friends, or at least "see you later." There's also the possibility this reflects the realization of what she has to return to after Hololive.
There's definitely a lot of meaning behind this one! And you could hear it in Calli's voice, see it in her words and lyrics. She really is a genius. And thank you so much for taking the time to write this up too! Such a great read.
You can tell how deeply personal this one hit for her. Would you believe she almost scrapped this? I'm just so glad she decided not to let it go and share this incredible song with us. I truly think it's one of her most important songs. It says so much in that fantastic way she does it.

Yea she said she was kind of embarrassed of it, as if we wouldn't support ANYTHING she would make. She just don't miss, even if she thinks she can.
Not only is this one of the best Vtuber songs I've ever heard, it's probably one of the best songs period. I teared up pretty hard first time I heard it and it somehow became nostalgic as hell in less than 24 hours. It's a song that has a specific meaning to Cali herself and a message to specific people from her past but it's also ridiculously relatable and applicable to anyone. Not to mention the actually insane rhyme schemes and her drastically improved singing overall combined with the super smooth instrumentation and that sax man. This one just fires on all cylinders. Sasuga, Dad. This isn't just "good for a vtuber," this is just incredible.

@@fearlucario542 yeah, she burned bridges with some people who applied for hololive after she said she wouldn't, then decided to submit an application as a joke, and then her joke application got accepted and theirs didn't. it created bad blood with some of her old friends. not everyone though, Boogey Voxx is one of her old friends and did multiple collabs with her.
The way I took it was with Calli reminiscing her life before becoming the person who she is today where it all seemed like a crazy dream while her friends already gave up passing it up as some fantasy ultimately having Calli leaving them behind flying to a new space but knows that she can't go back because it was those sacrifices that lead to her to success. Because of her success, she feels that she doesn't deserve to miss the past saying that "these the best of years of life" "what is there to miss?" "there's nothing left back there for me" viewing herself as the villain that decided to "drive off" abandoning her heroes that we're once beside her waking up to her life now wanting to continue dreaming

Calli always hit with whatever she sings and she does such a different variety of styles. But her style primarily is rap and that allow her to come up with lyrics that can have multiple meanings and the flow too. Calli if you see this just so you know the Dead Beats and everyone you meet will remain with you even if this labyrinth of lights no longer bright and it is in ruins.
Truly well said dude. Just her ability to go into different genres and using multiple styles, while still making the song hit so hard... Calli's just a genius at it.

This is probably my favorite Calli song. It’s relatable, leaving one chapter of your story and moving on to what’s next. Beautiful song.
Hearing this song is like listening to Calli telling us about her story. I guess this is how musician get personal and open up to us about their life.
The meaning of the song, and the time it drops, many people hearing it might have different interpretations. But it's still the same, it's her telling us her story.
Musicians and singers don't just do this to get personal but also to give themselves a better understanding of their own thoughts or feelings to their pasts or what major events in their lives.
The vibe is real, this song is going on loop for sure!
Also you called out the chill piano but can we take a moment to appreciate the violin? It's such a great sound, the instrumentals are just amazing and they really complement Calli's calm voice

The meaning behind this song is so bittersweet too. It's clearly about her reminiscing about her days as an independent artist struggling to survive in Tokyo. She "sold out" (and joined Hololive), and kind of became the "villain", and then off the back of COVID, her "heroes" went back into regular work outside of the music industry, and she fears she'll never see any of those people again, and will never get a chance to tell them "hey, thanks for saving my life". And then her rant in the middle telling herself not to feel emotional about the whole thing, because she's blessed she has it made now. It's just very touching.
It's also extremely impressive how far her singing has come since the start of her time as Calli.

I dont know if this is out the line but ive seen her live performances and there is a part of the mv where there are hands and a blurry person on the front stage singing and that could be her. The fact that she is letting us see her past to where she came from is heart warming
I listened to this on repeat on my way home from work on the release day and needless to say it is so beautiful and it makes me cry a bit
Love the reaction! Calli beyond killed it with this one. I've teared up every time I've listened to this song so far, and I totally agree that the jazzy feeling is amazingly well executed! Calliope Mori is the vtuber that got me into Hololive and into the wider vtuber fandom as well, which has helped get me through some less than great times. It's not exactly a hot take, but her music is just incredible. I can really relate to the feelings of self-doubt and loathing conveyed in a lot of her lyrics too (though I love I lot of the more optimistic ones too), so even setting her incredible musicianship aside her music really connects with me.
Anyways, keep up the great work guys! I'm loving the Hololive reactions as always, and I'm looking forward to more Vshojo videos too! ;)
