Last I checked Alberta was where "Everyone" moved too, check the stats over 200K people here in the last year!
People are moving to Alberta in large amounts.
Unless one has a boat load of cash to buy a one bed apartment for 600K or a realtor who wants to make money by letting people exchange houses and charging exorbitant commission. There is no reason to move there.
There are one bedroom condos available for less than $600k currently. Two bedroom condos are in the $650s - and provide better resale value as well.

We are experiencing a large population growth in the GTA.
I lived in Mississauga for 2 years, couldn't wait to move out.
Boring, not much work, bad transportation and too many crackheads and crime.
Where did you move to?
Can't do much without a vehicle. Terrible 'bedroom community' vibes.
Sadly - however there are efforts being made for better transit.
