I'm so stupid, only now I've finally realized that this is Hosada's take on "Beauty and the Beast"
It was so obvious, with the MC being called "Belle" and this Beast that the world is against but she bonds with. 🤦♂️🤦♂️
I didn't get it either at first.
Can't blame anyone for not getting it at first since the Japanese title calls him a Dragon rather than a Beast.

I love how the 3D animation is just for the U world, with traditional animation for the real world. It's a clever way for them to not use just one style for the whole movie, while avoiding the unappealing clash between the two. I know it's been done before (Code Lyoko anyone?), but it's still an excellent way to do it. I'm very excited!

This actually looks insane. The animation is so clean and style is nuts. Plus the theme song is nuts. Belle is legit gonna blow our minds when it releases. Definitely think of Summer wars, kinda SAO, wolf children and some partial princess mononoke for some reason. Idk why tho

As.for once its "safe" to travel abroad again, its been my wish for too long to visit Japan and see Studio Ghibli and meet The two AMAZING creators and everyone! I learned how to read when I was little when NOTVOTW (Nausicca) was a one time special decades ago, when there was only those huge ugly yellow english subtitles, my mom recorded it back then so i could rewatch it, and id love to meet them, fhe ones who changed my life and gave me hope and beautiful dreams when I had none.

Saw this movie with my best friend, I almost started tearing up, the soundtrack and the art style is AMAZING!!!! Honestly I would watch this movie ten times over in the cinema if I could. It's a true masterpiece! Now I keep listening to the soundtrack on Spotify and yes, it makes me tear up! Few movies, games and series achieve this. I really miss this movie and gonna get it as soon as it comes out on Blue Ray! If you haven't seen it yet: YOU ARE MISSING OUT!!!!
I watched last night in LA. Only 8 people in the theater. I cried so much in the end. I couldn’t leave cuz I cried too much. Was left alone, till the end of songs I stayed. I cried while driving back to home, and again watching this. I missed my mom and Japan. 😭 Thanks to Mr. Hosoda made this wonderful movie.

This is one of those movies where you know it’s going to be great just by looking at the trailer. The animation, the voice acting, the singer. This is my personally most anticipated movie for this year.

Cried at so many points in the movie, the music is just... God, it feels like I'm watching "A Silent Voice" all over again when I were younger and much more innocent. The human parts were realistic too. This would be a great memory that I will cherish forever more.

Some don't really like it because it is similar to other movies but I really love this movie. It has beautiful visuals, music and theme. Suzu and Kei both learned from each other how to overcome fear and stand up on their own. Kaho Nakamura and Takeru Sato as well as other actors and actress voices are wonderful! Every song Suzu (Kaho) sang gives me goosebumps and that last song got me all in tears too🤧.. Really worth spending my 2 hrs time🥰

I just realized this movie is themed like Beauty And The Beast (sort of). Belle is- well, Belle, and the beast is ‘the beast’ - in the artificial world at least. Not that this story will follow that same plot line, but it’s very poetic!!

I don't know anything abt this movie, but i got chills.
I have to give my cousin credit for this one: she believes that this story will be dealing with suicide/a suicide & past abuse.
Whoever the Dragon is needed to hear Suzu's/Belle's voice for that reason. And we can take an educated guess that the Dragon is not the real Villain, if this story even has a "Villain", and whoever It actually is they are protecting Belle from them
This is an out there theory with no backing but I'm guessing the beast is Suzu's age and when younger Suzus mom was trying to help him out of his abusive situation. But maybe a failed suicide attempt or an accident where he almost drowned got her killed. We see a younger Suzu crying hard near a raging river in one clip. The reason the beast shows up and 'ruins' Belles concert is because he recognizes a song Belle is singing as one her mom sung to him. The pretty boy at school we see Suzu storming away from is KIND of an antagonist, as much as a normal guy who has a crush on a girl so feels he has to protect her can be. In that he'll be unsympathetic to the beast, and not understand Suzus feeling, because he can't understand their trauma. I think the story's message is about empathy over the net.

Well this will be better than the Disney remake.
Maybe in animation, but the Disney version story telling and soundtrack is still one of the best. It didn’t win two Oscars for nothing lol Plus it was nominated for Best Picture (which was not common for animation films at the time). I’m sure this will be an interesting and futuristic version :)

To each their own I suppose 🤷🏻♀️ One live action version I do like is the 1940s version (black and white classic) Beauty and the Beast. It had a dark and creepy vibe about it, tho it might be cheesy to the newer generation lol
@@erika8349 counter point, it was a cash grab just like the live mulan, and as a result most of the genuine stuff behind is is masked in a fake aura. I will pose a hot take, that we only need 2 live action movies, that thematically and visual wise actually benefit from live action: Pocahontas, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Especially the hunchback. Pocahontas can suffer from bad writing at times, but my god, just imagine hellfire with a real person playing frollo.

I just watched this in the cinema today. It was amazing that I've got no words to describe. everything was truly amazing not only the animation but the voice casting got me full of goosebumps. The voices are perfectly fit and super attractive

I think the one thing about this film that got me was the design of Belle
For some reason, something was bugging me about the design. The reason was because someone who worked on Frozen had also designed Belle. So it was weirdly familiar but oddly out of place in my head lmao
