You can feed cows TMR, or hay/silage or grass. It's not mix and match. If you feed TMR you get 100% productivity. If you feed hay/silage you get 75% productivity. If you feed grass you get 25% productivity. I indicated in this video that the productivity is cumulative, but it's not. So, feeding the cows grass with hay and silage does not equal 100%. You get the higher of the two - 75% productivity for hay and silage.
I’m new to the game, and am approaching my first million thanks to your Ravensport tutorial. Where do you stick these animal pens on Ravensport, or is it only for other maps you can download? Thanks so much for these tutorials by the way, you’ve really made the game enjoyable and this is not the kind of game I usually play, but it’s taken over my life 😂🤣
Outstanding! Congratulation on your first million. Animal pens can be used on any map. As to placing them, you simply try to find the flattest spot you can. Will save you a lot of headaches in the long run (and money). I'm happy to hear you're enjoying the game. Welcome to my addiction. Thanks!
Animal Pen Extension allows you to schedule "milk pick-up" for a fee, so the "dairy" will come an collect the milk for you. Milk is stored automatically in your cattle pen, so milk collection is as simple as pulling up a tanker trailer that allows milk, filling it, and driving to the dairy.
Hey Harv why is it when I place my chicken coop and cow pasture, they’re on raised mounds like small castles, as apposed to just being flat so you can drive straight on to them?
Heya, Mark. Because FS19 automatically adjusts the ground around your animal pens (and any other type of object that you place) so that it is flat where you place the object. The game also charges you to make those changes in the ground. So a $25k chicken coupe can end up costing $30k or more. Any time you place something you need to make sure you're doing it on the flattest ground possible, or use the landscaping tool to smooth/change the ground before or after you place an object.
thats a pain in the arse lol. I’ve tried sorting it out with the landscaping tool, but I’m crap at it. I flattened the ground around the loading area on one side of the cow shed, and although the ground is flat, the markers are now floating 6ft in the air!¡
Hey thoughts, I noticed you done almost all the animals with vanilla fs19, maybe you could teach us about seasons and animals, over a year, and how season affects them. Great video, keep up the great work.
I can't make the right mix to get TMR. I've tried with 2 silage + 2 hay + 1 straw but it always goes wrong. Do you know if you have another formula to get the TMR mix right?
You have the formula right. It’s the only one that I know of. Except that the straw is optional. You don’t have to add straw. Even so, you are doing it right. Are you using a mod?
@@HarvsWorld No, my mods are for tractors and some implements. I use the Farm's own TMR mixer. In FS17 I got it right but in FS19 it never works. You always have too much straw.
I've loaded the Buck's County map, and mine doesn't come with a TMR mixer. Which TMR mixer are you using? Also, are you using bales or loose silage/hay/straw? I purchased the base game SiloKing TMR mixer, added 1 bale of hay, 1 bale of silage, and 2000 liters of straw, and it made TMR with no problem. So, I really have no idea why yours is causing an issue.
Did you buy all the same color of cows? In order to maximize breeding time, they all have to be exactly the same. This video is old enough now, that I can't remember if I mentioned that or not.

I'm going to try it at home tonight, I think I'm doing something wrong, I may have changed the burdens lol. Thank you for your attention, hug.
@@HarpiaJohn No worries. I'm happy to do some testing from time to time. Helps me to know what to expect. Take care, my friend.
@@HarvsWorld Got it! I was adding too much straw. I think my cows will be satisfied now. :)) Merry Christmas to you and your family!
@@HarpiaJohn Merry Christmas to you and yours also!

Thanks for being a informative TH-camr
Thank you!
Best tutorial I ever watched.
Thanks! So glad you found it helpful.

You can use the milling machine to clean up the animal areas. it is cheaper but yes once you have animals cheap isn't a thing anymore :)
The milling machine is a good idea. Thanks!
Is there a mod that helps with the milk collection like the chicken crates mod for the boxes?

I found pointing the primer's tube in the right direction when unloading straw does somewhat help :D
Yes, that might be a tad helpful. :)
