I discovered you don't need a bale shredder attachment or wagon if you have a TMR mixer wagon. Fill the TMR mixer and with straw and then empty at the straw point.
I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how much I appreciate you making this tutorial it is because of your help that I am able to farm cows now thank you so much!
And you don’t “need” to rain on my happiness just let me farm my cows dude 💁🏻♀️ I love farming cows and I’ll keep farming my cows however I want thanks 😁
Love your videos Farmer Cop. Ive found out the other day you can take a semi load of grass/ hay and unload it all in one load instead of doing it by the bale spike one at a time. Ive got 50 head of cows and same for sheep and it keeps me pretty busy lol
Even if i know all of this things, i really like the way you explain all the things and all the details and i am watching and enjoying all of ur tutorials
I like all the options, sometimes I buy materials but on my farm, I farm 6 fields and have cows and chickens and horses. I like having multiple ways to do the same thing. I collect straw from fields and use a ride mower for grass and do all these things and I store some in trailers, I sell some and I use some for the farm and so I store it in silos but I also like to manually move and make bales and collect them. It truly lets you choose to do the work or to do it the easy way. I enjoy this game for that so much. The silage packing and field work mixed with animal farming means you can produce money and materials that kind of fulfill the loop of fertilizing and cleaning and just making the whole farm run. It's awesome.
I’ll have to check, but I’m fairly certain, that I have not seen a “how to” for horses. If you haven’t done one, well that’s my suggestion for a future video. Thanks for the great fs19 videos!
The animal manager in me is screaming lol. In the real world, TMR is the term used to define the animals entire diet. essentially, the 65% TMR, 25% Hay, and 10% fodder IS the Total mixed ration. its also way more complex, taking into account protein and other elements of an animals feed. ugh the way they implemented TMR into this game makes me mad.
I wish that I'd watched this video a few days ago as it would have avoided some annoyance on my part. I kept buying the wrong hay blower and was wondering why it wasn't working. How embarrassing... Anyway, thanks for the useful vids, FC!
After all the videos I watched trying to find information on this, your video is the only one that actually made me want to have cows on my farm. I am brand new to this game, and am finding it quite hard at the mo, I've literally been harvesting loads and loads of corn until the train is full and then selling it, I only make about 113 grand a time 😪😪
how much does a cow sell for once its done and how long does that take? great content, i always watch the videos to help me better myself on this game.
In base game (that is without seasons) cows are always "done" and are worth I believe its 1500 or 2000 a piece, but they do reproduce to create more cows as well but they are all worth the same at all times
My son just started playing this game cause Hudsons playground and he is only 4! I love the game lol but he doesn't like letting me get anything done cause he just likes too drive his monster truck and not share with mama lol 😢I'm gonna have to play while he is asleep
Not sure if you tested this already, but I just got into cotton and I'm wondering if the harvester repair level affects yield the same as a normal harvester? The cotton pickers are extremely needy and lose a quarter repair after a medium size field so seeing data on how that affects yield would really help, I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to pull them out of the field halfway and use my mobile repair station trailer mod to fix them. Total pain in the ass but if I'm losing say 10% yield on the last half of the field it's totally worth the trouble given the price of cotton.
Yes he has 3 videos about maintenance, one about combines, one about seeders, cultivators, sprayers, and spreaders and one about forage harvesters, potato harvesters, sugar beet and cane harvesters, and cotton pickers. Short answer is yes the maintenance will affect the yield as well as the work speed; yield is about a 40% loss and speed goes from 6mph to 4mph. I don't know exactly when this effect kicks in with the base game but I know if you are using Seasons once you hit 10% wear you take that yield hit. I suspect that is the same value in the base game but not sure. Here is a link to the video with cotton pickers in it, if you want to skip the testing jumping to 6:11 will take you to the final results in a chart: th-cam.com/video/8QM9U-Szrh4/w-d-xo.html
does a hay bale work for the bedding because I just realized I might have made a royal screw-up because I'm making hay with grass for their bedding... oops
Yes Kroneg is correct, I can't remember now who tested it but there was a youtuber that tested it and found that mathematically they are equal. However I THINK (I have yet to test this myself) you get a slight edge by keeping them all the same type. The reason being that with 40 cows, you will have X amount of time until a calf is born, at which point you get 41 cows and your X time will go down slightly and the cycle repeats. With 10 cows of each of the 4 different colours, you'll have to wait 4X times to get calves, but once you do you'll get 4 of them. By then I think with the 40 cows you'll have already bred 4 cows and be part of the way to producing a 5th one. The difference is probably negligible except for extremely long running scenarios but still something that would be worth looking into.
Hi Jack, Are you playing with Seasons.. I did experienced the same with seasons. They do not produce milk before they get calvs. (apprx. after 1 year in game) If you give them straw, you will get manure, but not slurry... if you dont give them straw, you get slurry, but not Manure :) Thats my experience after playing with seasons for couple of weeks now.
Yes Jelsa is correct, with Seasons animals only reproduce and produce goods at certain times of the year. You typically need about 1 in game year before you start to see them breeding and producing goods. If you check the Seasons manual you'll be able to find exactly what time of year the different animals will reproduce and give you goods.
A good tutorial but I think you should do a beginner tutorial on a base game map so people can learn where to find the buy and sell points. It would also have avoided the confusion about the update.
@@FarmerCop ok that makes sense because after I looked watched this I went and saw on my game it was the same...so I was confused. I didn't know that was dependent on the map.

Are you 100% sure that the Alpine Expansion changed the feed rates of cows? I ask because for one it seems odd that they would change a core feature like how the cows operate in the Alpine Expansion but not the base game update, but more so because other youtubers that are playing with the Alpine Expansion such as Kederk Farms as well as anecdotal accounts of others players with Alpine/Premium edition still having the normal 100%, 75%, 25% values. I think that may actually be a mod changing those values for you; you should load up a vanilla game to check.
Yeah. I also have Alpine DLC and the Premium Edition and on new save and no mods I have all standard values. Also, I think a change this big would be in the release notes for the DLC or the 1.7.1.0 update, and there's nothing in there regarding this.
On a side note there Farmer Cop. I just got me some horses last night. Did you know you can ride them all over the whole map? Pretty cool to explore that way. Also, where can I get the horse helper mod? I looked in the in game mod hub, but didn’t see it.... is it a third party mod, or did I miss it?
Yes and it is a fantastic way to look around :) and yes the horse helper is part of global company (pc only) and i show how to use it in part 1 of my global company tutorials :)
Oh god, no... So much headache. Maybe I'll come back to this guide after I master all other ways of making money. Juggling around water, food, manure, slurry, straw, milk and animals must be "Krastorio 2" level hard. All that to get free manure... Eh.
