Great comparison! Somethings I would like to add. The V scan can be laggy at times. Because it is wireless occasionally the image becomes jerky which is a problem when doing interventions or cannulating. The butterfly footprint is larger requiring a modification of technique if someone is used to a traditional ultrasound. Butterfly also includes remote guidance capabilities and has an entire library of artificial intelligence guided education.
I agree with the Butterfly part, the wider footprint can be tricky at the beginning. Regarding Vscan, I haven’t had any laggy issues but I understand it deppends on the individual experience. I don’t know if the smartphone/iPad model (mine was iPhone 7 and iPad Air 1st gen) plays an important role, maybe the processor or sth?
in B Mode the GE has a superior image quality. in CF the Butterfly is better. I wouldn’t buy it without M-Mode so that’s an easy win for the Butterfly, they need to produce a new wireless version with a curvilinear side though.
Yes, I agree with you. Regarding what you ask, check the EagleView review in my channel, because it has what you ask for (curvilinear side, M mode, good B mode image quality and cheaper than Butterfly). Have a look at that!☺️👍🏻
Hola, gran comparación,,,, cuál crees que puede ser mejor para un anestesiólogo que hace ecocardio, pulmón , vaciamiento gástrico, bloqueos nerviosos, espinales y peridurales…
🙋🏻♂️Masters of Ultrasound here to help!! (TH-cam and IG), I would recommend you to decide what you value the most (none is perfect yet) between the multipurpose probes (3-in-1 probes), which for that price are: - Butterfly: great support and price (annual subscription sucks but the entry is affordable), worse image quality imho (as all these opinions on this comment). Wired or wireless not that much important unless you're gonna switch between iphone and ipad (lightning vs usbc) or share it with a colleague who has different iphone/android. - GE Vscan Air: the best image quality among the listed, more expensive (4,5k$ no annual sub) and battery lasts
Great comparison! The VScanAir's image quality is very impressive, especially for cardiac imaging. For other applications like superficial vascular imaging, it seems like the IQ+ is close enough to be competitive. Have you noticed any lag with the wireless Vscan Air? For example, when doing needle-based procedures like arterial/central lines or nerve blocks?
It would be nice to compare all these handheld u/s machines (Air,IQ+,Clarius hd)with Kosmos echonous which has available all of their features plus PW/CW Doppler.
Hi, my name is Max and I am an emergency room doctor from Italy. Thanks so much for the review! I have a question please, is it easy to take the cardiac window with the convex probe of V Scan? best regards
VScan images are superior. You did not trial continuous scanning such as for POCUS training or a busy ambulance or ED. Butterflys overheat and have to cool down to continue scanning. Over the long haul the Vscan will be cheaper. I suspect more modes are coming.
It depends on your specific needs... what do you value the most? Image quality? Battery autonomy? Portability/weight/wireless? Or imaging modes? For example vscan air doesnt have PWD nor power doppler... in case you need them, there's no choice...
Pretty similar to this case... Butterfly is cheaper and more versatile, whereas lumify stands for image quality at its finest (handheld US paradigm in that aspect)🙄 stay tuned for upcoming reviews...!!😊👍🏻
It's unfortunate you didn't really explain the subscription. I don't get what it says life long...vs 3 years max.. or annual subscription. What does it include for either
Annual subscription means cheaper price when you buy it but an annual fee that adds up quickly. Life long means a one time payment when you buy it. No more payments ever. Another thing is the warranty coverage time :)
@@mastersofultrasound ok but why does it say 3 years at the bottom of lifelong. Does that mean it only last 3 years or that just means the warranty is only 3 years
Fps is undisclosed unless in eagleview which is 18fps. It does matter, yes, specially for cardiac images (due to movement). For other organs it may not be that much important...
Congratulations. You did a fantastic comparison and , for me, in Brazil. I work with ultrasound devices since 2000 and i teach it in an university. They bought a VINNO s device instead a GE VScan, and asked me what about this change.
Unfortunately, iOS doesn't allow foreign devices to power through iPhone battery, and thus it needs to be charged separately (same with other wired devices such as Lumify)
actually it combines 3 probes in one: curved (convex), linear and sector probe. its also the only one wich provides a bi-plane image that can be very helpful for inserting cvl or iv. apart from that it is no piezzo-crystal technology, its semiconductor technology, meaning not that sensitive in daily usage. I am using it for almost two years now. the only disadvantage is the cable and the connection. but if broken, butterfly is replacing it with no cost and very quick.
If I understand it correctly with the butterfly there must be an internet connection available to access the butterfly app ? When I tried the butterfly it draíned the power of my iphone 7 plus within 15 min. And it is not possible to connect the butterfly to Your iphone when You use an accu holding cover like mophie juicepack. Furthermore You have to buy this butterfly support at a cost of 400 plus USD per year - a lifelong version as stated by You is not available in Europe. On the whole the butterfly is useless as POC -device for emergency doctors with no constant access to the internet. And the yearly fee of 400 and more is just a scam. With such politics butterfly will not win many friends in Europe. Too bad actually - but greedyness seldom pays out in the end. But anyhow THX for the comparison

I hear Apache wireless ultrasound works pretty great. Made in Taiwan, FDA approved, and it's waterproof!
Please do Vscan Air vs Clarius V2 (both linear and curve) vs Lumify (both linear and curve)
As a anesthesia student, do you recommend the butterfly IQ or save my money for the vscan?
Hi!! Thanks for The review!! Which is The best for family doctor that works also in urgency?? Thank you so much!!

@@mastersofultrasound The lack of M-mode is a matter of updating the software or rather the lack of a suitable converter in the device ?
I don’t know… intuitively I would say a software issue, but better ask them directly…
@@mastersofultrasound thx
VSCAN Air vs Clarius HD. That's the real comparison we need
"who's the wireless winner" ahahahah tbh I haven't tested the clarius, but it would be a nice comparison 😉
Yes agreed. Air vs Clarius vs Lumify
the battle is decided before it starts: Clarius needs different probes whereagainst with the vscan You get a dual probe
Yes but everyone has cons too... for example clarius battery lasts longer than vscan...

Muchas gracias
Hello ! I’m a echocardiographer/vascular tech which one do you guys prefer. ?

Lumify Philips
Thanks man, really.
I really respect the way you try hard to speak your English, It motivates me to learn another language..
Thanks very much 🙏
You are welcome!😊
What about Butterfly vs Philips Lumify?

Thanks for the tutorial. Do we need Butterfly IQ subscription in order to use it? Can we use it with an Android device?
It is required to use the cloud and the imaging modes and tools. Yes both iOS and Android :)
Seems like butterfly network is of much better value. Image quality is comparable between the two.
please compare GE vscan vs lumify, would you? Thank you so much!
Yeah I have some exciting videos in the making but I’m busy man 😅😅 will try to upload some of them before 2022 :)

cant find the option of a lifetime version of the butterfly anywhere on their website!
its all subscription nonsense
try sending them an email asking for details about your local pricing options :)

Hi, wich ultrasound would you recommend for pulmonologist, for pleural effusion mostly, thanks!
Can I buy this and just scan my family and friends , I am a echocardiographer and Vascular tech
Yes you can, check their webpages in the description box :)

Is there any “pocket” probe with continous wave doppler function?
The only one so far in the market is the Kosmos device from EchoNous :)

do you think we can use the GE vscan for veterinary use ?
Yes! The footprint might be too big for small animals but other than that it's perfectly fine :)
