After 60 years of playing cello professionally, my last concert was in Miami on Valentines Day with Bocelli and his son. They sang this song. As I drove back to Orlando I played this song over and over and over. I never get tired of it. It was quite a moment.

I heard this song the first time last week on his concert. Andrea Bocelli sang with Matteo. Then I found out this video and I understand that it's like he feels his son is his soulmate. He never saw him, but he always felt their moments, his son's presence. He always felt the connection between them. When I listen to this song I just can't hold my tears.

My mother always loved Andea Bocelli. She was diagnosed with dementia. She lived in a memory care home. When she fell or got sick, I would meet her at the emergency room. Sometimes she would know me. Sometimes she didn't. I would play this song. It touched my heart so deeply. I would play his beautiful hymns. She would close her eyes and sing. She didn't know me. But his words touched her- a place we could be together. ❤

I was thinking the same thing. Also, thinking about how he has never seen his son. I'm an old person; and I've had a great life. I would be willing to give up my life if that meant that Andrea could see once again. (With a smile on my face, I say that son will never be as handsome as his father. :-) )
PS: I saw Mr. Bocelli in 1997 (somewhere between 1996-1998) in Orange County, CA. I think it was his first US appearance; and he was still 'new' to The US. My friends were going to attend, but I didn't want to go -- the tickets were $80, and I had no idea who he was. But then a friend got sick, and she just gave me her ticket. //// Mr Bocelli was escorted onto the stage by an assistant. He couldn't have been more stiff if he were dead. Just so rigid. Like he was frozen. And THEN he started to sing. And I burst out crying. I might have been embarrassed but the middle-aged man sitting next to me was crying also. LOL Jump to a few years into the future: what a sexy guy he had become! LOLOLOLOL And he still is! :-)

I love how this song develops and changes character. First the minimalistic piano accompaniment with Matteo's softer, airier voice before the strings start coming in gradually. Then Andrea's fuller, more focused voice enters, along with the switch from English to Italian which affects the phrasing significantly. Strings swell throughout his verse, then pull back as they sing the chorus together. Then the orchestra swells again as they go into the bridge. Lots of bright violins through the last part, the piano continuing underneath the whole time, until it finally fades into some soft strings. What a ride. It's incredibly beautiful, touching, and also just a satisfying listen. Grazie di cuore, Andrea e Matteo! 🥰

My dad was blind my whole life & died in 2000 when I was 18. He was a great father, musician, singer & husband. I only discovered this song when my son was born in 2018. I think my Dad would love this piece. I think of him everyday. Thank you 🙏

@@kylechellino2579 I'm so sorry you never had a chance to see. I've felt guilty a great deal of my life because I introduced a couple that married & their first child was born blind. It was so heartfelt & why? They raised her with help in anyway they could get it. She could even ride a bicycle. I never heard them complain & feel blessed always. When I heard Bochell's story I could only cry. His Mother was advised to have an abortion. He went on to say he's glad she didn't. I'm sure glad she didn't. Then I think of the whole wide world. How blessed we are to have him, all of them♥️

I bought Andrea’s CD to my dad as a Christmas gift many years ago. He fell in love with Andrea’s voice and music. Nine years ago I received a phone call from my mom. She told me that dad had
a stroke and might not make it. I was living oversees at the time and booked the first flight home, praying that I would make it on time. After the 12 hour flight I arrived at the hospital where dad was unresponsive in the hospital bed. On the second or third day, when I was all by myself with him, he suddenly opened his eyes and smiled at me for a short moment. This loving smile is forever seared into my soul. And why am I writing about this here? Andrea’s beautiful voice was one of the last voices that my dad heard during his last weeks on earth. This timeless music causes me to see and feel that beautiful smile again. “I close my eyes and I'm seeing you everywhere. I step outside, it's like I'm breathing you in the air. I can feel you're there.” At the same time this song makes me think of my relationship with my three sons; what will become of them and how a part of me stays and continues on with them. “I will smile if in the fleeing time you take me with you” (translated from Italian).
