Congrats that’s a beauty. It was my first year out this year and unfortunately didn’t run into anything. Do you typically hunt the clearcuts pretty hard in the morning and afternoons? Most of my days I spent hiking down into the creek bottoms and would see signs that they’d been down there but they’d all be pretty old. Just curious as to what other hunters full day schedules look like
Early Morning I typically hunt the tops and clear cuts up high. The elk I was hunting were pretty consistent on the routines so it was easier than some elk all elk are different but yes typically hunt the deep thick timber and brush during the hottest time of the day and clear cuts and ridge tops Early mornings and evenings
