  • Damo in a lengthy talk on the subject of Jing (Yuan Qi) in Chinese medicine and inner cultivation. Over the course of nearly two hours, he discusses the difference between medicine and cultivation as well as the difference between gross and subtle bodily mechanisms. The final section of the talk concerns the things a practitioner should do to assist in cultivating the body Jing.

    On the materialistic vs spiritual explanations of this stuff... there are a ton of new ideas coming outside of mainstream science that helps to explain this stuff, but requires a paradigm shift in how we see the world. I've been a science/materialistic geek my whole life but learning about Gerald Pollack's work with 4th phase or biological water, Michael Levin's work with bio-electricity, the whole "Electric Universe" astronomy/cosmology... and my own practice with yoga and working with the fascia, meditation, these inner alchemy ideas... I'm rambling now but really I think things will start to make a lot more sense to a lot more people.
    Thanks Damo for the work you do. It's been a huge help for me.

    • @SubparFiddle
      @SubparFiddle 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LotusNeiGong Sorry for the wall of text but I'll try to explain it if I can:
      For 4th phase water, they showed with experiments that water can exist in this "4th phase" between liquid water and ice, and we find it in living cells. You might hear it called "structured" water but I think that term has been taken up by a bunch of scams, fake products.
      The basic idea is that this water is electrical, like it has a negative charge. The insides of our veins and arteries are surrounded by it. And our blood cells are positively charged so they kinda just float through on a layer of electro-magnetism like a bullet train. One theory is that this electro-magnetic force is what actually pushes the red blood cells single file, one at a time through the narrow capillaries, and that this force is what generates blood flow, not the heart acting as a pump.
      I think ideas like this create a bridge between a lot of these materialist vs spiritualist conflicts, if that makes sense... Thanks again Damo.

    I have three of Damos books and I also used to think he was a bit wordy, than for years when I would have a problem or find something difficult I would go back and re read some part of one of his books that I originally had found too verbose. I just wasn't far enough in my own practice to understand how useful the extra information was. I may never have figured out how to progress past some of these hurdles without the help of these books. I am very grateful he takes the time to explain things so thoroughly and in such great detail because there really isn't, at least as far as I know, anywhere else to find this quality of information printed in English.

    As a woman, I would love for you to do a video for women please🙏🏾 I love listening to your long explanations.
    Also...regarding frequency of sex. We've been programmed into thinking that sex needs to e frequent and actually it's not in line with the moon rythmns of women. Women don't feel like sex all the time...theres a natural 'clock' that tunes us to feel like sex which is mostly ( not always) during ovulation time ..which ofcourse is procreation time. But for me it's just more tuning up with the person you're with in a realistic way.
    Thanks for going into these conversations....so needed. 🙏🏾

  • @carlholmes-gi8py
    @carlholmes-gi8py ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks Damo. I have generally weak kidneys and had been been practicing building the dantien to corect this weakness. What I had learned is that you push down with the diaphragm, up with the perineum and contract the sides in which is supposed to 'thicken' the chi, all this is done via subtle intent not muscularly.
    I had to stop doing this because I started to feel like my breathing became laboured and I felt an intense sensation of abdominal constriction. I still feel it to this day 3 years later. I dont know if this occurred by incorrect practice or I was simply not at a baseline level of normal health to begin with.
    What you said Damo about the dantien compressing in makes sense to me in that I might be feeling this subtle level of compression that occurs, as opposed to physiological, when building the dantien. Is it possible that i've partly built the dantien and feeling this subtle compression because the the magnetic fields compressing inwards toards the body are not being opposed by 'thickened chi' and said chi was not able to thicken due to weakness in my kidneys or mingmen?
    To be certain it feels like my two sides of the ribcage are encroaching on each other and feels like my head/cranium is being torqued at times...
    Damo great podcast definitely one I will have to watch again appreciate these talks.

    • @LotusNeiGong
      @LotusNeiGong  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry you still feeling this discomfort. I don’t advocate pulling up of perineum or contrived diaphragm movements actually. You are correct in that the mechanism should rely on the subtle and not the purely physiological. Start subtle and it will thicken over time without taxing your body or crushing your guts!
      Kidney strength helps for sure as well so switch to subtle and boost those kidneys and you should be golden! 😁

    • @carlholmes-gi8py
      @carlholmes-gi8py ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LotusNeiGong Thanks Damo, the weakness to my kidneys is I believe hereditary as I have weak teeth, enamel weakening disorder, so weak bones I suspect although I don't suffer from any known bone diseases. However I am aware that weak teeth is to do with the bones and weak bones means weak kidneys.
      To be honest the effects of my standing and neidan has been overal negative I mean if I had known what was going to happen I wouldn't have pursued it, its really been that bad lol but I'd always had a fascination with health and health improvement without resorting to synthetic and un-natural products so I went for it and ignored potential adverse affects.
      When I said pull up the perineum I meant the perineam diaphragm and pelvic diaphragm but try to be as gentle as possible. I can only do it subtly now not with any exertion as my breathing and guts are so constricted that its not possible to use any exertion.
      It feels like my floating ribcage has been sucked up and not 'fanning out through the back' - if that makes sense; and also contracted in a 3D like manner. And I know for a fact that when constructing the dantien the ribcage should be expanded and wide as possible in 3D fashion. It's like the internal pressure I was building up had just abruptly diminished. It's quite a depressing but profoundly unexpected change.
      I am just wondering if the neidan herbs you mention, thats not dispensed by any regular TCM doctor, may be able to alleviate the symptoms I'm having or possibly reverse any mal-practice on my part?

    • @LotusNeiGong
      @LotusNeiGong  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Okay, sounds more like you need to find a good Chinese medical practitioner and work with them first to help firm up the Kidney Qi before anything else. This would be your first port of call if I were you :) only after that, should you worry about seeking out a Neigong or Neidan teacher. You will need direct in-person tuition to ensure that you progress safely as well :) check out a few medical practitioners in your area and don’t just settle on the first one you find! :) good luck with it

      I recommend meditating on your kidneys and mid back region where you feel the issue. Gently draw your energy into this kidneys. Try it for a couple days and see how you feel.
      Training the dan tien while having organ deficiencies isn't the best since you're starving those organs in favour of the dan tien.
      Eating pork is also very good for the kidneys.

It doesn't seem to have that focus as would be in neigong more deliberate focus on the dantien, Adam talks about the chi filling up the whole body and also you talked together about the thickening of the chi. Presumably to some degree Taichi goes in the same direction somehow
