Wow.. 50 sand fleas for $6? I'm going to cry next time I go into the New Smyrna bait shop! I think it was $4 a dozen last I checked. Maybe time to invest in a sand flea rake.
I love running into Larry on the beach, makes my day to pull up to my spot and see his truck sitting there. He has taught me A LOT about surf fishing. Eternally grateful.
Im in the mid-west, we fish a lot in rivers and lakes. This is how you learn the most, on people like him. You need to be friendly to locals and learn how they do it.
Took the wife and kids to Playlinda this last weekend. Caught one Pompano and a couple whiting. People next to me caught way more than me. Knowledge is power and profit. Going to try it different next week. Larry knowledge to me, I will teach my kids and someday they will teach their kids. Thank you Larry!
For you first combo I would get a penn battle. Tough Rugid reels. Not sure how much you want to spend but strikezone has done nice rods that the reel can be paired with.
Anything that will help me suck less is awesome! Don't know if I'd rather fish with the bluecrab or eat it... But the sandfleas would be great bait, didn't know how to hook them either. But since it's his favorite bait too, better use it!

I didn't catch what the sand fleas are kept in, just ice?
He has them in coquina, and keeps the small cooler inside a bigger cooler. He has holes in the small one so it can drain
