      You can use other brands, but I would get a cell with a higher discharge rating than that. If I'm not mistaken the obrtronic has an NCR18650B inside it which is rated at 4.87amp max continuous discharge. I'd get one rated for at least 8 amps continuous like LG18650MJ1 3500ma or Keeppower 3500ma which has a Sanyo NCR18650GA cell but is protected. They can both handle 10 amps.

      AdventureSportFlashlights Do you have a particular supplier you like for the 18650 batteries? Seems like their are a lot of frauds online and I don't want to fall into the cheap battery trap.

      Landon, I like illumn.com, I've never got a fake from them. Mountain electronics is good. When the GT is for sale batteries will also be offered along with it which I'm sure have been vetted by BLF.

      AdventureSportFlashlights hi, I'm looking for the most powerful flashlight I can get under $150 or close to it. I will mostly use it for spotting wildlife outdoors. the main distances will be from about 50m to as far as it will go I'm hoping to be able to make out a raccoon at 400m at least. i really don't need any flood lighting out of this light, mainly spotlighting. I don't need a super long battery life but above 30 minutes on high would be nice multiple power levels would be appreciated and something rechargeable would be great! any suggestions you could give me would be awesome!!

    Very nice review. Very interesting light, last month I almost bought it but I switch it with l30 gen2 because the l16 has a to tight hotspot and less spill, instead the l30 can illuminate a wider area with a big hotspot and spill, unfortunately it doesn’t have the same throw but it’s fine.
    Actually I love the output 4000 lumens of the l30 gen 2 and the tint neutral white 5000k of the led cree XHP 70.2

    Thank you for the video! Great review! I like your opinions about the tactical features. The L16 seems to perfect with the tactical tail switch that always boots up the light in the max. output. I love that function. The beam distance with over 90000 is fascincating with that small reflector. I guess so far there is no newer light in the market which is similar (in tactical features and light output / beam distance) to the Acebeam L16. Or do you know one?

    Many are complaining on how fast it gets hot. You don't need 2000 lumens all the time. The 150 lumens is enough for indoors while the 500 and 1000 lumens is also enough for outdoors. You will just need that 2000 lumens if it is self defense situation, you just need to view a longer range in a couple of minutes, or just doing beamshots with it. The 1000 lumens is almost half the throw of that 2000 lumens, you can still have a good distance and output.

    Matt, i do a lot of riding at night. Road riding, not trail.
    Ive a pretty decent budget High output led light. Its commonly found on amazon as brighteyes. I know its not a great light, but it works well enough for what i use it for. The problem is that its not a self contained unit. The battery is seperate and connects with a wire. That has to be strapped to the bike as well. I also didnt trust the cells at the price i got them for with the light.
    So i bought a different style light thats also a purpose built bicycle headlight but is a integral unit. Its the melian x1. Its not a amazingly high output but is nearly as bright as my other light thats advertised at nearly 10x the output. It runs on a integral 26650 pack (i think thats what it is at least.)
    Its a light designed around eruo zone regs and is a surprisingly good light for the 25$ cost with lots of features.
    However the first one malfunctioned and the seller has sent me a new one. While i like the light and the fact that its an all in one design and has some nice features, im not holding my breath on it being a long lasting light.
    So, i was wondering if you could perhaps do a video or a series on bicycle specific lights primarily head lights but throwing some tail lights in there couldnt hurt.
    Previously, i gave up on purpose built bike head lights and just got decent off the shelf flashlights for the time and used those as my headlights. I always found that more output and better battery life and features for the money could be obtained with flashlights over bike specific lights. This is starting to change so i would like to see your take on some good budget headlights for bicycles. Specifically bike mounted ones as i usually wear a helmet and dont really like having a light attached to it.

    Acebeam is known for their filters. The hotspot was way way bigger than I expected. It's surprising it gets that much throw. It looks to be about the same head size as my XT12GT and it has the same numbers but the hotspot on the Klarus looks much smaller but it does have a bright corona that I don't like. It just seems odd that so many factors are kept the same between the two but the hotspot size is different but yet the throw numbers are the same. Must be in the reflector focusing/size/shape or something. Do you own one? Can you do a comparison? I was considering buying the L16 to replace my XT12GT but I'd like to see that it can really match the throw despite the larger hotspot. Sorry for the long post.

    • @vinceau7421
      @vinceau7421 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      bought my klarus XT12GT from china market, only half the price compared to Acebeam L16, so these two shouldnt be compared directly considering the price. saw some vids showing Acebeam is slightly brighter than Klarus, though Klarus comes with the 3600mah panasonic cell kinda covers it up. along with only half the cost, those are the main reasons why i choose the XT12GT. For me i kinda like the paddle switch cos i always needed time to find the side switch in dark places (back in times while using old Fenix) and with all controls in one place i only need to use a single thumb for all operations. one thing though, the tactical ring is loose but good thing is it can be removed

      @han0509 Check out the ThruNite TC15. I have the desert tan version. It's micro USB rechargeable. It uses an XHP35 led. It's a side switch operation light, not a rear clicky switch. But a press and hold for 1 second gives you moonlight mode. Or one quick press gives you the last normal mode used (low, medium, high, it has a memory). Or a quick double press gives you turbo (2300 lumens) from either the off or on position. Turbo lasts for up to 2 minutes before thermal stepdown. Three modes available within 1 second. In normal mode, just press and hold to cycle through low, medium, and high. A quick press turns it off from any mode. A quick double press from turbo gives you strobe, or a press and hold takes you back to normal mode (low). Most of the complaints about the light are from user error. Like not having the head or tail tight, or not removing the insulating paper for the battery for shipping. I've never had a problem with mine. It comes with holster, charging cable, lanyard, spare O-rings, 3100mah battery, and pocket clip. It has a great mixed beam pattern of flood and throw. It doesn't have an electronic lockout, so I strongly recommend you slightly loosen the tail cap slightly for transporting it, especially if you put it in your pocket.
      I forgot to mention you can get it on Amazon.

      @han0509 I understand. This light is great for a nubie, even for an enthusiasts, but for someone in your profession, not so much. Had I known, I wouldn't have even recommended it. I would think Acebeam, Surefire, or Olight would have something to meet your needs. Thanks for your courage and service. It's more dangerous than ever out there. Try to be safe!

      @han0509 lol Ya know, it's really sad ( for us) that you recognize that, but, at least to me, doesn't change what I said. When something terrible happens and everyone wants to run away from it, it's your job to do just the opposite for both the citizens and visitors of your country. So my thank you still stands. And if something happens at night, I want you to have a good light to deal with it. ( had to keep it on the topic of flashlights) lol

    I suspect the treading inside the tactical bezel is to reduce light noise/artifacts in the outside of the beam. My astrolux ec01 has that issues. I'm no flashlight expert, I'm just trying to think logically about the design.

    It seems like your C8 has a tighter focus, smaller hotspot, and that's why it's lux was higher. I don't remember your C8 specs, but I know a lot of folks can run a fet driver with an xpl hi and get around 1500 to 1600 lumen.

    Great job! Thanks for this look. I'd love it if you could check, and see if a EC50 or 60 bezel will fit this thing? It's hard to tell for sure, watching this video on our TV, if it's the same size.

    • @Lumencraft-
      @Lumencraft-  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't have the 50/60 lights, but the head diameter is the same 40mm. I still haven't figured out what the threads on the inside of the bezel on this thing are for though.

    • @SteveKluver
      @SteveKluver 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks.
      Acebeam offers filter discs, that have outside threads on them, to screw to the inside of the bezel. They have Orange, Green, Red, and White Diffusers. That is one reason I asked about the size. By the looks of it, I thought they'd be pretty close to the same size. It's good that they planned this out, to be the same. So diffusers bought for one, will fit the other.
      The EC50, and the EC60 are fantastic flashlights. As you may or may not know, I have a lot of flashlights. If I was asked to trim my collection down to only two flashlights. Those remaining, would both be Acebeams. The EC50, and the X45.

    I'd like to ask you a question; I'm in the US and I got one of these today from Amazon and the seller's name is Nitebeam. The box looks different, still kind of high end, but it had been re-sealed... The torch itself had a few fingerprints on it and the warranty card has no serial #; it's left blank to be filled-in. I assumed it would be a match between the card and the serial number on the torch... The battery had 3.84V at arrival and turbo mode worked out of the box. The Acebeam 3100 battery looks like it should but no manufacturing country is marked on it. I put the battery to cycle in my analyzer/charger and won't know more for about 6 hours about it. The box is orange and black... My question is: Should I be concerned about the authenticity of the product or is it normal not to have a serial number on the warranty card and no country of manufacturing on the supplied battery? Thank you; a quick answer will be very much appreciated since a return is pending upon it. Keep-up the great job with your revues!

    • @Lumencraft-
      @Lumencraft-  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Dude. I lost the box for my L16, but looking at my K65, X45, and X85 I got the same warranty card. Just blank. I'm not sure if Nitebeam is a reseller or if that is the name Acebeam company uses on amazon... If I remember correctly Nitebeam is where I got my K65, and I have no reason to believe the light is anything but authentic. I too have got acebeams in boxes that were plain brown, and also some of them are printed in color. Not sure why.

    • @Lumencraft-
      @Lumencraft-  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bank it. Wear on this light should be decent. It claims to have Type III HA finish. I don't have any new surefires, but my older ones are Type III HA and still look pretty good. Also the warranty on surefires is impeccable, and time tested. Overall I expect this light to be quite durable though. I can find nothing that looks like a "weak point" at all.

    • @Lumencraft-
      @Lumencraft-  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You mean like if whenever the turbo timer kicked in you shut it off and rebooted to the 2000 lumen right? I would say if your using a 3000 ma cell about a half hour or so before it's drained.
