Hello guys, I have a Rode Nt-USB mic. it worked fine for 6 months, my computer used to detect it with ir's name "rode nt usb" but now when I plug it in the laptop it says PnP audio device in recording devices (windows 10). It has a high gain and when set on for example 40 out of 100 it still has high gain and distortions. I have tested it on 4 usb ports, even on other computer and on android too via special adapter. I don't know what is wrong with my mic. please help me
Like it? I L💗VE MY RØDES! Hi Sean, I'd like to share some quick mic technique tips with you and anyone reading the comments, if you don't mind? Your proximity to the mic is fine for general use. You'll get even less unwanted silibance and plosives if you point the pickup at your mouth, but don't talk directly into the mic, but rather across it. Think of it like this, the air coming out of your mouth creates interference. What you want the mic to pick up are the soundwaves of your voice as it passes over the pickup, without the subtle wind noise of your breath coming through by basically blowing into it when you speak directly into it. The pop filter reduces this interference but it's doesn't cut it out completely. Also, remember with a good quality condenser mic like the NT USB, especially for voiceover, booth work or streaming, proximity is king. The closer you are to the pop filter, the better frequency response you'll gain, which results in even more presence and warm, natural voice tone in your voice. Be aware of the probability of clipping the mic by doing this though. For the improvement in audio quality it brings, it's worth experimenting with adjustments to proximity and the mic input gain to find that perfect sweet spot. The upside is, with greater proximity and a lower gain, your voice volume relative to background noise volume is improved.
@@Supercilliouzman No, it is only good for undynamic speed talking :-) Wonder why so many TH-camrs think it is necessary to constantly shout into the microphone.
I use it for my movie versus videos. It is FANTASTIC! Such clear and crisp vocal reproduction. Definitely provides a professional quality to your videos.
Just got mine in the mail yesterday, I absolutely love this mic! So exited to add some proper voice acting and sound effects to my stop motions! Such a great upgrade! Extremely happy with it!🙂😁👍
I use this mic for gaming videos, and I personally can tell how big of a difference it makes. I was stuck with a blue snowball for a while, and then got the Rode NT-USB as a Christmas gift..and all I can say is that it's beautiful for the price! I went from 78 subscribers to over 200 in a little over a month..and I think part of that is because of the audio quality. I recommend this to anyone who can afford it!
You know the funny thing is I was debating on getting this and the Blue Yeti and this was winning and now it just won. Thank you Sean, you don't know how much you have help me with the equipment I am using now for my channel!! I really appreciate you and your hard work! Keep up the fantastic work!!
I have a card-making channel and was having trouble with my microphone for voiceovers. I went to you and you recommended the Rode NT-USB, so I bought it! Thank you. I really like it so far, and it has been so much better than the other one. I really appreciate your attitude and your demeanor. Thank you again for all your help.
Trust me, you are really good at making reviews. I am really confused with my microphone shopping. I am an online teacher. I have a place to record my classes and I have done DIY sound treatment. Can you recommend me a microphone. I was thinking to buy either Rode NT USB Mini or Audio Technica AT 2035 with a Scarlett solo. I will appreciate a quick response. 🙄🙄🙄
Thank you Sean for everything you do! I purchased the RODE. NT-USB via your link to step up my phone interview/Zoom audio. Again 👏🏽 for all the value added content!
I’ve tried the CADU37, At2020, Blue Yeti , And the RodeNT. Out of all USB mics, this one is far superior when it came to music recording. Highly recommend fr
Thanks so much! Going to get it now. Its two years later but I believe its still totally worth it. Hopefully you had no problems with it later on in the months 👍😀 Have a great weekend everyone! Anyone going to see Aurora at Roundhouse London this coming Monday!?
Just so you know, RODE have a notice on their website saying "RØDE Microphones does not authorize Fulfilled By Amazon. We have purchased counterfeit RØDE products using Fulfilled by Amazon and highly recommend that you only purchase RØDE products from authorised dealers. If you purchase any RØDE microphone from an unauthorized dealer via Fulfilled By Amazon you will not receive any US warranty or technical support."
I was choosing between the Audio Technica and this Rode. Purchased online during the middle of the pandemic with movements restrictions in my country, so I didn’t get to test them in the shops. Decided on the Rode as the AT was out of stock or selling at crazy prices and I feel I can modulate my voice accordingly to get the desired effect. Turns out, the Rode suits me. I can deliver with resonance in my voice with sufficient bass and clarity. Love it, just wish it to be smaller. Which model is the swivel arm from Rode?
I have been getting by talking straight in to my tablet for a year! Terrible sound quality but still got 1000 subs! Deep down I know I could do way better if I just get serious and get a professional mic. I'm sold!
Good video mate, thanks for putting it together. I use Rode mics for all the content I create on my channel and for my clients in Australia and overseas. Bloody fantastic gear. Thanks again Sean. Cheers. Steve.
Great video! Thats actually true! Everyone chooses the blue yeti as the best and all you get is the microphone only! But this is almost the same price and you get better audio quality, tripode, pop filter! Isnt it absolutely crazy!! Great video! I do appreciate it! I have been finding an amazing review for this mic but all the videos sucked! Finally I have found a youtuber who does a proper review! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I've been using this for around 6 months now and absolutely love it! Got it on sale for $120 aud and use it for podcasts, TH-cam and PS4 streams. Also if your on a budget, can get an apple USB/lighting connection to use on the go
I'm looking for a camera lens to help me blur out the background of my videos. I'm currently using a Canon T7i. Any suggestions? If you have an Amazon affiliate link to share, please let me know. Great videos
Nice video. How well do you think this is suited for webinars and creating screen recordings with webcam on. Think the size of it may get in the way and make the recording look a little less slick?
Sean. Thank you so much for the work you are doing. Really helping us up our game & making us better people. If you haven't, any chance you can share some tips on the best options for capturing direct audio when streaming with a Phone. In other words, I don't want to use the Phone mic or a room mic. If there are gadgets through which I can plug in a Guitar line & a Vocal Mic and have it go directly in the phone so I don't lose quality, that would be awesome. Maybe the little gadget could even have basic sound EFX (EQ, Reverb, etc.). Thank you.
Excellent content as always! I was thinking of making this purchase as I do videos in my golf simulator using XSplit and right now am just recording on the microphone built into my PC. My setup requires me to be about 6 feet away from the microphone though and was wondering if it will still pick up good audio at that distance as I am hoping to stay away from a lapel microphone if at all possible as swinging a golf club with that on is no good!! Thanks for your help!
I have a Blue Yeti, like just about everyone else. I recently started live streaming with it, but originally I bought it to record VO auditions. I also have the Blue Spark, but that's obviously out of the price range. I would like to use a Rode USB, but with as much as ive invested into my audio setup, I think my next mic is going to be an XLR mic.
great video! I just have a quick question - what level did you have the rode at when you did the test recording? because I have mine between 70 and 80 and at 70 it's too low and at 80 it peaks so i'm curious what yours was. Thank you!
@@Postdisclosureworld I have owned two Yetis (silver and blackout) over 3 years and for podcasts its very decent. For recording music, pure garbage. I record acoustic guitar and singing at home. On the Yeti, the sound, even after weeks of different settings (distance, room size...) is just boring, lifeless and overall bad. The AT2020 I used and the NT USB I own are ona completely different level. Their are both USB, not as good as the 400$ USB mics and definitely not XLR quality, but the NT USB is ALMOST almost studio. The guitar is full of life, interesting, mostly natural and almost original sounding. The ambient noises, the background sound (cars outside, cat, dog barking) will be picked up. Even you swalloving saliva. But in a quiet room, it just picks up some sort of quiet hiss - you just lower the dB to 3 in your reording app and its gone. Dont do a -10dB as the sound on any mic will become less natural and boring. The AT2020 is superb antural, but the NT USB is more warmer and ...I just like it more. I believe, under 200$ you cant find a better USB mic for instruments and vocals. I will say the truth - for instruments, the Yeti is worse than my built in Asus laptop mic - not kidding! Last thing, if you find an AT2020USB+ for a price thats at least 40$ less than the NT USB, go for it and or the AT2020, but at the same or less than a 30$ diference, the NT is just worth it.
Only the Blue Snowball is something I could reccommend based on the price. The Yeti is for podcasts only. Dont let the company fool you as they print guitars and singing people on their Yeti boxes. The only true under 200$ USB mics for singing and instruments are AT2020 and NT USB. There are some cheaper Lewitz and Auna mics but...Ive heard them - specs ok, sound way inferior to the 2020 and NT.
Rode a good mic company once i get a better dslr for the vlog im def getting one of these!! Ive got a new vlog using your seo strategy on my channel Thanks for the content
Does this mic work properly with windows 10? just simple plug and play ..or do you need extra programs? Because i keep hearing about ppl having problems with windows 10 drivers and usb mics.
I'm probably going to get this microphone for my cryptocurrency & entrepreneurship channel. I'll be sure to use that affiliate link btw ;) Great video!
Great video and I think I’m going to check out that microphone... also I was asked to do a live stream , have you posted a video or can you recommend any web cameras?

#ask RODE Microphones Can you help?? Would love someone's advice. I just bought this mic...figured out how to disable it as a speaker with Windows so it will actually pick up...but I cannot get over how QUIET it is. ??? There must be something I'm doing wrong. My $20 lapel lavalier mic is MUCH louder than this mic. Do I have a setting wrong? I went in and increased the volume in the setting...which technically made it louder with the bonus of making a background high pitch sound that is awful and makes the recording unusable. What am I doing wrong. I just bought a boom arm...still insanely quiet when I listen to the playback so much so I can't use it.
I just bought the same boom arm and just mounted it on my desk. But I cannot make it stay on the same position as you have it on your desk in this video. It keeps shooting up!!!!!
Hey Sean! Great video! Glad you like the NT-USB! :)
Thanks - LOVE IT - great mic for such a great value!

I agree, USB A is so old school

The Samson G-Track Pro sounds great too, and I think it usually retails around $150
I like my Blue Yeti but I'm a big fan of Rode, it sounded really nice.
Perfect video, helps answer my question about the shock mount!
Thanks for the great review. *** Can I ask for the speakers model you have on your desk please?

Mic looks slick. Might pick this up.
It's solid - can't go wrong! :-)
I really like this microphone but i can't decide between Blue Yeti and Rode NT? Which one should i pick?
Rode NT-1 not the NT-1A. The NT-1 is the one that I like most after researching for a few days
Does this mic work properly with windows 10? just simple plug and play ..or do you need extra programs? Because i keep hearing about ppl having problems with windows 10 drivers and usb mics.
I had an issue...that it defaulted as a speaker. But I googled how to find that & disable it. My issue is that it's so dang quiet.
I'm probably going to get this microphone for my cryptocurrency & entrepreneurship channel. I'll be sure to use that affiliate link btw ;) Great video!
Did he record this straight out of the box? (no eq no compressor / stuff like that, raw)
Thank you for the review!
You're welcome Sacha!
I feel like swivel arms make you look professional. I am looking to get one for the same mic!
Would you recommend getting the NT1 or the NTUSB?
Thanks for the content. Would you consider making a video about your Facebook live and google hangout setups?
Unbelievable vid again Sean
Is this mike good for singing/music recording?

Thanks Steve - keep crushing it!
This video is why I bought it! Great review!!
Great video and I think I’m going to check out that microphone... also I was asked to do a live stream , have you posted a video or can you recommend any web cameras?
So do you only have the mic and the boom arm in this video? And does the Mic rotate on the arm?
Would you use it for vocals as well? I want to start recording singing vocals with an inexpensive microphone like this one. Would you recommend it?
Thanks for the review. I prefer dynamic USB mics and really like for the price, the Audio Technica ATR 2100. Great to hear this mic though.
Bruce Turner I agree 100%. I think dynamic USB mics are probably best suited for people who are concerned with background noise rejection.
hi podcastage, funny seeing you hear, as i watch all of your videos, and you told me the mxl 770 was a great choice. Cya bandrew
ramming goat the mxl 770 is a great mic.
yeah i ended up getting it with the steinberg ur 12, and they both sound amazing, especially since the mxl picks up a little more bass making voiceovers sound better imo
Good review. I would have to go with the the Blue Yeti, mostly for its versatility. Even with a pop filter costing an extra $10, you're still saving $55 or so. The ranges are similar, with the Rode having better highs and the Yeti have a better mid-range.
Good tips and point Jim - that is a solid mic - keep crushing it!
I heard the Yeti, and did not like it at all. The Rode is soooo much better. The only mic that is similar is the Audio Tecnica 2020.
What video and mic are you using when facing us?
Just bought myself one after watching this, thanks!
Tried and tested this microphone.... I like it great mic for gaming live streaming :)
Thanks for the review. I use a steelseries arctis 5 headset. It has a great mic for only US$100. It use for gaming videos. And just gaming with my firends online. If anyone doing gaming videos and need a cheap but good mic go with this one.😊
Blue Yeti or Rode NT?
Just got this but it's very quiet how do I make it louder without hiss or background noise etc

Please which type of USB microphone is good for recording/ live streaming music or sounds from multiple sources like in a church setting ?
Could you tell me please which input and output should I set?
What monitor(s) do you use???
Since this mic would be good for traveling, what would you recommend as the best travel case?
@Think Media is this mic better than the Yeti?

Curious what your thoughts are on this vs. the Rode Podcast mic. Is the Podcast mic a LOT better? Or is it "so close" that it's not worth the upgrade?

Well thank you very much Sean for this awesome video! :)
Its helped so much
is it better than the Blue Yeti? also, is this good for recording vocals (and better than the Yeti in that aspect)?
A lot better
A lot for singing, speak face mic
But if you want to speak with a lot of ppl in the same piece, take the yeti
Eric, in what respects do you find this Rode model better than the Blue Yeti?
Have you seen the Blue Raspberry? I'm torn between this Rode and that because that will plug into my iphone and is very portable.
Do you use any software?
Nice love your videos really love your advice its really help me
Thanks for making this video 👍

No
Why not? @@xPlayZOfficial
