Phenomenal job reviewing an absolute classic and one of the best science fiction action films of all time. And a film that despite some insane circumstances, a really horrible shoot, a failed creature design(and a last minute redesign), and a director that was not really known for this type of film it excels and exceeds all expectations.
One thing i will add to that is the original script which wasn't exactly the best as it could have been before changes were made, like changing not just the Predator's look but also the final battle and ending with Predator's spacecraft and all (i think novelization actually includes all that though).
This is definitely one of the best SciFi horror film of all time, Arnold Schwarzenegger is badass in this classic film and even the rest of the cast were great too Carl Weathers, Sonny Latham, Bill Duke, Jesse The Body Ventura, & Kevin Peter Hall as The Predator. Predator (1987) 100% kick the shit out of The new Predator (2018) down to 2% for it bullshit Humor with no memorable lines like the first one and more comedy & Less of SciFi Horror action than Orginal throughout Fuck that movie, Arnold Schwarzenegger Predator is a classic great film ever made .
18:27 I would've mind seeing it or King Willy's last stand either for that fact IMHO. Awesome job brother on talking about a sci fl/horror/action classic! ''ANYTIME!''-Mac/Bill Duke87
I Love Arnold Schwarzenegger, he’s 1 of my Favorite Actors & Action Stars, He Will Always Be 1 of the Best, Great Actor, very Charismatic, Talented & Funny, I Love Predator, Terminator 1, 2, & 3, Total Recall, Commando, The Eraser, Red Heat, Collateral Damage, The Rundown, The Running Man, Twins, Kindergarten Cop, Jingle All The Way, Last Action Hero, End Of Days, The Expendables 1 & 2, The Last Stand, & Escape Plan Those are my Favorites Of his ❤
Kaiju Soshingeki Hell yeah. After Jesse Ventura dies he does some amazing acting. You really felt his pain and losing his mind. “Long tall sally, she’s built sweet! She’s got everything that uncle John needs! I’m gonna have me some fun, I’m gonna have me some fun, I’m gonna have me some fun...”. That scene was uncomfortable to watch and awesome at the same time.
I have been thinking he would be good to replace Scatman Caruthers in Dr Sleep - granted, the books and movies don't line up exactly, so I don't know if they will refer to Kubrick's film.
That scene with the torch and primal scream made me think”, damn, if they were still making Tarzan movies in the 80s Arnold would have been perfect!” Lol. But seriously that scene was awesome
Considering the limitations of the suit, realistically the fight with Sonny would have been pretty lame. Kevin Peter Hall did his best, but he was basically blind in the suit, and it weighed a ton. If they remade it today, with a lighter suit that allowed more action, it could have worked. (The one really good scene in the new movie was the Predator escaping the lab. The mobility of the newer suits is much better.)
I Like Red Sonya, Conan The Barbarian, Sabotage, Aftermath, Killing Gunther, Terminator 5, True Lies, Around The World In 80 Days, & Expendables 3 There Ok but there Least Favorites Of Arnold
"I ain't got time to bleed"...Blain One of the greatest films ever made, especially in the sci-fi/action genre. Also, some of the greatest one liners from nearly every character in the film, not just Arnie.
"This place makes Cambodia look like Kansas". Ventura said that Van Damme was complaining all the time. Honestly I think Van Damme is in the movie its when the predator takes Shane's body. It looks 100% the same when Van Damme did it with his suit, I don't know, maybe.
Another great vid Matt. I watched this again recently as well to “cleanse my palette”. I honestly think Arnold’s best acting comes in this and the Terminator and doesn’t involve any lines. In basically the whole last act of this film and all of the Terminator Arnold has very few lines and does all his acting with his eyes and facial expressions and it’s brilliant! Like when he passes out in the mud and then the predator jumps in the lake and the whole hiding in the roots scene. This whole movie the physical acting was great, like the scene you mentioned with Mac shaving. I also liked how after the “ain’t got time to bleed” scene we see Jesse Ventura with a bandage on his arm right before he gets killed. So I guess he did have time to bleed. 😉. I love his relationship with Mac too and how he loses his mind after Ventura dies. That scene when it’s nighttime. “Just you and me man, walked outta their without a scratch!” And when he goes on his final stand reciting the lyrics to Long Tall Sally. Damn. Just so much to love in this movie. It might be my favorite Arnold movie too. I go back and forth between this and the Terminator. Running man is definitely up there as well. That movie gets more relevant every year. We aren’t far off from Running Man world. It will be on Fox in 2025. More interesting than American Idol 😉. Sorry for the long winded comment. Keep on truckin’ Matt! I love your channel and wish I could know you in real life, I think we would be friends, I’m the same age as you with similar tastes. Take care man ✌🏼🍻
Media Guy yeah man why must everything become a franchise? Why Hollywood why!!!!!???? 😉. This would have been great as a one-off movie with this single Alien that comes to Earth. No need for more. I sort of think of it as a really high budget action filled feature length twilight zone or outer limits episode in a way, and those didn’t need sequels. And we could have avoided the last couple decades of shit films.
I always imagined that Dutch died right after the movie ended from radiation poisoning. I mean he was like 100 feet away was a proton bomb or some shit and he looked really bad at the end on the CHOPPAH. I imagine the next scene he runs his hands through his hair and it it all falls out. “Oh shit.”
I never understood people laughing at Arnold's accent growing up....I live in Canada. I'm surrounded by accents. Gonna rewatch Predator 1 cause this video got me exited for it again.
It's funny how this film is a mixture of genres!! Action, horror with Gore& thriller aspects which makes for a classic 80's film :-) I will agree to disagree with your opinion of PREDATORS! I felt it was a well put together retro film from this franchise. I didn't mind the cast, the lead(brody held his own&kept me entertained),I enjoyed the opening of that film, being dropped in mid air while not knowing why&the plot where all these violent individuals with a history of murder, that fit perfectly with the idea of the predator antagonist. Is it as good as the first 2 films,no but it's a Damn good try :-) sometimes less is better, knowing Billy didn't see another day after, his last stand with screams while seeing the facial expression of Arnold was enough for me personally. 2 films in one year with Arnold and Jesse lol
Great review, and well-timed. Recently bought the trilogy on 4K Blu-Ray and fell in love it all over again. Seen this film about a 100 times and it never gets old. A true classic. I'm not one for nostalgia but the saying "they sure don't make 'em like this anymore" definitely applies here. I didn't despise The Predator, but revisiting the O.G made me go from a take-it-or-leave-it to a straight leave-it.
Love this movie! great job Reviewing the classic action movie. it has very memorable lines "Get to the choppa!", "If it bleeds, we kill it", and much more. I love how you could not really see the predator because he is in camouflage just like lizards. I love the performances, the effects, everything works very well for the movie. Awesome Movie!
Love this Film. It really is one of my All-time favorites. All of the actors do an awesome job, Kevin Peter Hall as the Predator (I would be surprised if Jean-Claude Van Damme was the predator, but he didn't get to.) But I thought Kevin Peter Hall was The Predator. John Mctiernan (Die Hard, Die Hard with a vengeance, I love those two films) did a great job directing this film, Great Special Effects by Stan Winston (Jurassic Park) All in All, A classic 80s action film. 'Nuff Said.
Back in the days when they knew how to make good shit, but when you have franchises and movies these days that are being ripped apart and destroyed by lawyers like they are doing right now you can't have good shit anymore because it ends up tasting like actual shit. Just like Coke and fucking coke zero what would you rather have shit is shit and shit is subjective depending on how much people appreciate the shit and I can tell you the vast majority of people are done with the utter shit the movie industry has become. Creativity sucks these days because everything is made by fucking lawyers who give zero fucks about the fans or fan creativity and content
Such a classic! I love the practical effects and action in this movie, though some of the effects on the Predator in camouflage hasn’t aged well. Great performances, too! My biggest negative would be that some of the dialogue is very dated now and the super macho element comes off super cheesy now. Still a fun and great watch with some over the top action. The predator’s look in this film was nailed 100%! Looks just as good as the future installments. Good video!
Yes yes yes yes yes! YOU SET US UP! It’s all bullshit, all of it! The Cabinet Minister, the whole business. Got us in here to do your dirty work. … SHUT UP! Shut up So you cooked up a story and dropped the six of us into a meat grinder! What happened here Dillon? You used to be somebody I could trust.
Good review it's just a shame what happend to mctiernan like wtf was he thinking his career as a director is pretty much over kinda like wesley snipes going to jail over tax evasion what's he doing now straight to dvd movies
I haven't watched the 2018 Predator yet and I'm actually looking forward to it- just so I can see how shitty it really is compared to Arnie's original.
hello matt love your reviews i agree predator is one of the best action films ever made / great cast / great concept of pitting solders against an alien hunting for sport.
Matt this is one of my favorite movie of all time my childhood movie when i was in 4th grade :) i have it on DVD, Blu ray one day love to pick up the 4K cover it's great movie, great cast, loved characters, loved where it is filmed, loved lines your bleeding, i got no time to bleed, if it bleeds we kill it, Get to the Chopper, come do it kill me i am right here kill me come ON DO IT NOW !!!! great movie i loved it so much, it's great film one of best Predator movies in franchise i didn't care if this is slow movie but predator 2 is good and 3 is fun, 4th is eh alright but it could been better i would not say PREDATOR was great movie i put Predators top of Predator, but i liked Predator i thought it was alright. but this classic nothing beats the shit out this movie nothing will, this beats another predator movies. sold review matt i loved all stories when van damme left role of predator, still love to see van damme to be in predator.

kinda like aliens was an action-horror film, and predator is just like that. I wish there was more action films like this.
10:14 Richard Chaves I always remember him being on that 80's tv series of ''War of The Worlds'' in which he was a baddass too

Awesome job brother on talking about a sci fl/horror/action classic!
''ANYTIME!''-Mac/Bill Duke87
"You're an asset, an expendable asset". I wonder if that line is what gave Stallone the idea for his Expendables movies.
At 22:56 the end credits. “Yeah, we just got killed, but we had a good time! 👍🏻 LMFAO 😂

13.30 I never noticed that arm shit Arnold arm much stronger
Man this movie is cool
I was thinking earlier today how good of an actor Bill Duke was in this and how he should have been used so much more in more films.
Kaiju Soshingeki Hell yeah. After Jesse Ventura dies he does some amazing acting. You really felt his pain and losing his mind. “Long tall sally, she’s built sweet! One of the greatest films ever made, especially in the sci-fi/action genre. Also, some of the greatest one liners from nearly every character in the film, not just Arnie.
I think Alan Silvestri also did the music for the abyss which came out 2 years after predator.
Predator score is bad ass I'm surprised with better technology they can't make modern badass scores
marco avila dun nuh Nuh nuh nuh! Duh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh! Bum mum bum bum! 😉

too bad there still isn't a decent hd blu-ray transfer of this movie available (no interest in 4k, sorry)...
Apparently, the only decent transfer is on Itunes.
@@ramboraph4life interesting. thanks for the tip!
The only predator movie that should have ever been made. Even though predator 2 was decent....

Such a classic.
I have the predator score as my phone ringtone, everytime some one calls me I'm ready for action!
Watching Rambos videos is like watching TH-cam in 2010. And I mean that in the best possible way.
I never understood people laughing at Arnold's accent growing up....I live in Canada. I'm surrounded by accents. Gonna rewatch Predator 1 cause this video got me exited for it again.
The "ultimate edition" bluray is a pile of crap. The picture quality is like a steaming pile of doodoo. That's why I still have the 2008 bluray.
My personal favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger film would have to be CONAN THE DESTROYER!!! What are your thoughts?
I enjoy that film.
Excellent review for a classic flim.
The greatest movie of all time

Awesome review on a badass film. This was the ultimate popcorn movie in a badass way
You ever do retro Wrestling videos again?
I don't know. There's not really any demand for it.
Great review. By far my favourite Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, favourite Predator movie and all time favourite movie period.

I read that they didnt show the Billy vs Predator fight because Sonny Landham had left or quit before it was filmed. Is this true or not ?
Never heard that before.
Whether its true or not it became memorable even Predator 2 had 2 Billy moments.
No, his death was always meant to be off screen. Even in the script only thing that happens is Dutch and others hearing his scream.
I haven't watched the 2018 Predator yet and I'm actually looking forward to it- just so I can see how shitty it really is compared to Arnie's original.
I miss movies like this!

Now the real ultimate master piece of the series
the very original PREDATOR
also Predator 2 is great and tragically overlooked
PREDATOR1 & 2 is all what truly matters
my only real complain about Predator 1 was Billy dying off screen
it would been glorious to see a true fight man versus alien
melee showdown to truly make justice
kind like that fight of the samurai man versus Predator on P 2010
that fight really made me think of what the billy fight could have been..
killing him off cam like that just made the character look weaker of what he truly was
other than that a Perfect true sci-fi Horror film
rewatched them both to recover myself from super shitty useless The Predaturd 2018
