    Great video! I do want to add one thing. If you are bothered by your video being upside down, there's no need to change the direction you are playing! Just click the 3 dots in the right hand corner of *your* video area and click flip video. Viola! You're right side up!

    May I?
    I was wondering if you would be willing so showcase some peoples DIY setups. Doing so may convince people to try different options and experement.
    My friend had a genius setup. it was basically just using the pop socket on his phone in a coat hanger, puttiing that coat hanger in a large book, and having that book on top of other books for elevation.
    Super simple, used stuff he already had, and easy to tear down

    THANK YOU! Question: Do we have to go through "Discord" to get into a Spelltable game? Or is Discord not even necessary? Can you do a follow-up video on creating a game, joining a game, and making a game public or private? Also, can you play with a Webcam on a MacBook laptop? Or is a phone the only way to do this? Any other little "must-do" steps that you didn't mention? (Sorry for the basic-level questions. Your help is MUCH appreciated!!)

    • @Xavi_Shado
      @Xavi_Shado ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Discord is not necessary to play on spelltable, but there are countless discord communities built around spelltable, a lot of them have voice channels for you to join with the people who you are playing with.
      (Spelltable input and output has given me trouble in the past, so I just use discord calls)

    • @krvys7226
      @krvys7226 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't need to use discord for a spell table game. Discord tends to be recomended because, at least a year ago, mic quality on spelltable was shakey. But discord also let's you do a better pre-game setting expectations, rather than joining a random game, and finding a major disparity.
      I also hope he does a follow up on all those things. Hopefully, in the meantime, you can find someone who can walk you though that.
      As for the MacBook laptop cam, it can be done, but it's awkward. You need a camera that can view your field. MacBook cam can do that, but then it's hard to see the screen. Phone was recomended because it's something most people have already.
      Hopefully that helps a bit.

    • @keepingitcasualmtg
      @keepingitcasualmtg  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      These are great questions! I can do a follow up on the video to answer some questions that people may have, but for now.
      Discord is absolutely not necessary, but Discords can be a great community to find people that are down to play games rather than taking your chances with the randoms on the SpellTable lobbies.
      You can absolutely play with a Webcam, and I believe some people have been able to play with a laptop webcam, but that might be a bit tricky with the maneuvering.
      Honestly, best way to find out a lot of this stuff is just testing it out for yourself. You can do a private game and get your configurations in order before playing an actual game.

    Hello there. I am trying to get into spelltable, but I encounter a big problem: glares from the ceiling!
    I tried to turn off the ceiling light and having indirect side lights, but the overall light exposure becomes too low for my webcam to produce something playable...
    (I use a simple full HD 1080 webcam mounted on a tripod)
    In your setup, your walls are white and you don't bother with light, but the quality is there!
    How can I improve my setup?
    Any tips about lights and preventing glares? (this is just preventing me from playing...)

    • @keepingitcasualmtg
      @keepingitcasualmtg  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If your light is directly above your setup you might get quite a bit of glare. I have a desk lamp that I like to use and try not to shine it directly at my space. I also use an old phone for the webcam games. Camera quality on phones these days are pretty good. If you do manage to get a desk lamp and find it too bright you can use fabrics to soften the light. Either shirts, towels, or even paper. But make sure it’s an LED light or else it might burn

    My group has found that only the creator of the game can use their phone, anyone else trying to use phone camera is told whatever browser their phone is using doesn’t have access to the camera, which is not an issue for the game creator.
