My grandfather, who was born in Mousehole, but moved to America when he was six, sang this song to his son every night as he carried him to bed. The song is kept alive in our family memories and figures prominently in my father's autobiography. I well up every time I hear it.
My grandad was Cornish as were all of his descendents and his dad sang in the Climax Male Voice choir. I sang in one in Devon for a few years and toured Italy. Moved me to tears many a time.
Absolutely love this version!!! Best I’ve heard - wished they did the “ and they pushed the damper in.. etc” Happened upon it when looking to sing some tunes with my Dad whilst driving back over the Tamar home to Cornwall!
My Uncle Joe work for Holmans & his Sons & orther family & friends XXX Couldn't move in Camborne when it was dinner time .... outside the pasty shops etc XXX Memories XXX ❤
My great aunt Ella Walters lived at the end terrace villa on Beacon Hill, overlooking The Beacon. Her father was a mining engineer who worked in Bute City Montana. She taught at Beacon School. My grandfather, Robert t Harvey Watson taught at Camborne School of mines. The pictures that are shown on the video, do Caborne proad, and this is an excellent performance by the choir.

Unbelievably beautiful, outstanding harmonies... so much more beautiful than when we sing it in the pub!!
Perfect harmony, superb diction - bleddy 'ansome!
Well here we are in 2023 and this is still the best ever rendition of this song - fantastic harmonies and a brilliant arrangement!
Gives me the shivers to listen to it!

A great reminder of my father who was a member of the Holman Climax Male Voice Choir.
The greatest ever male voice choire song ever
My grandfather was one of the lead singers in Climax, so this brings back fond memories.
RIP Rick Rescorla. 20 Years ago he was singing this song while evacuating civilians from the South Tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11/2001.
Is the song called “going up camborne hill going down” or is it called “camborne hill”?
Super. Well done for showing that rarity - the Camborne & Redruth Tramway.
Beautiful thank you
A stirring performance!
There is no Cornishman that doesnt have this as a childhood memory at the very least.
Good fortune brothers and sisters, one and all ❤
I live on fore street (camborne hill) I have a picture of the road, a year before the puffin devil. 😊
