I have just inherited my moms cast irons. I have bin cleaning them slowly doing two or three at a time. And everyone that I have cleaned has taken me back in time with my mom. My mom did the cooking In my family and every one loved the way she would cook it . My thing is I’m just starting to learn how to do this kind of cooking. I have just started seeing your channel and I’m learn. Thank you.

I will definitely be trying that potato trick. Some of the ladies at work were talking about their propane griddles that they have. Theirs stand tall and large like my gas grill. I don't want one like theirs , because i can put my cast iron griddle on my grill and get the same result, and most especially. I can take my griddle camping. So, I'm watching videos on how to cook on a griddle. Thanks for the tip.

Just this week when I was cleaning my basement I found my long griddle just like the one you used on this video. It’s a Wagner with Made in USA marking. I cleaned and seasoned. I wanted to find out how this griddle can be used on a stove vertical or horizontal. I found your you tube video and saw your awesome stove/grill. Wish I had one like that. Where can I get a grill like that? For now I will be using it on the stove to fry eggs and potatoes. Thank you Backwoods Gourmet channel

This washing technique works on all types of cast iron. You only brush the water over it, never dunk into cold water because it could break you pan.

Down in Baja Mexico during a long weekend surf trip we were camping out on this dry dusty point with nobody around. To clean the pans I used seawater and a little sand from the beach then did a light rinse with a little of the meltwater from the ice keeping our beer cold then onto the fire grate to dry. Worked out fine! It was motivation to be good fishermen or we didn't eat.
