I imagine that Jiang Cheng wanted to apologize for everything that has been misunderstood but can't because what if he messes up again and driving wei wuxian farther away from him (especially since he is the only family member that he has left and because he propably wanted to make him return to lotus pier with him but he looked so happy for the first time in years with lan zhan that he doesn't wanna ruin it for him) and also because of pride, he propably feels guilty 😭
