Thanks for sharing, pretty much the same process that I have used for a long time, and interesting that you still use solvent finish on boat vinyl.
Do you recommend water base for boat vinyl?
You didn't tell the viewer 'Any' details at all. Anyone doing this needs to know details like: What solvents you might recommend? How hot the heat gun needs to be? How long to keep the gun on the surface? What kind of paint? What is a 'reducer'? and a host of other details that you left out!

you might like a cordless heat gun, I have the 18volt Milwaukee, I dont recommend it as it gets plenty hot but dos not do well in the wind, I have heard the default is much better

How do you solve the problem of repairs on boat vinyl discoloring from constantly getting wet and the uv protectant in boat vinyl?
I have never had to deal with that. I could imagine that a coating could be affected by plasticizer migration but the line of paints I use is not prone to that. In fact it is specifically recommended for marine use.
What brand of solvent dye do you us?
Do you use a hair dryer to dry the solvent color?
No need in this situation. The solvent evaporates really quickly in the sun, sometimes too quickly. Thanks Kekky!
