18 year old Wellcraft “Excalibur”, used your tips on Purple Power, and Magic Erasers on the white vinyl seats, Wet sanded heavy oxidation, and used Menzerna 400 as per your info..Unbelievable results !!! Excellent videos, keep up the good work and great information....Thanks much
Thanks for the tips, I didn't even know there was such a thing as a detailing brush! Just picked up a 1988 (!!!) Cobia and we were shocked how clean the vinyl turned out after following the details in your video. It took many hours of work on a 16' bowrider but THANK YOU! I can't believe how clean it got. Wish I could do the same for the carpet.
Thank you so much buddy!, I am a auto Detailer in Idaho and I have several customers that want me to detail their boat and I don’t have experience on marine detailing, but By watching actually 4 of your videos has given me confidence, and like you I don’t like to cut corners and do an average job but to excel in what I do so I can also change accordingly. Thank you and keep up the good work God bless you!.
I just opened my own business doing detailing last year I'm going to be open again this year. Thanks for the tips tricks on how to clean it and make it look show room new.
This is so true.. the seats and those areas for storage are the first thing they do look at.. I took your advice and do all those things to make it look like i care and makes boat owners very happy.
Great job,,,, be careful with the Magic Eraser bc it's abrasive and that's why it works so well. Use it only in the the worst scenarios but not every time.
Kinda surprised that you don't rinse the Purple Power before applying the 303 Aerospace. Also, I have a background in industrial cleaning and often have to use bleach when or where I had rather not. If you check with your local pressure washing supplies warehouse, they will carry a product designed to neutralize sodium hypochlorite that is significantly hotter than what you might use for mold and mildew or stains on a boat. It's easy enough to just mix a spray bottle full when you need to use bleach and immediately neutralize and rinse it away.
When you’re talking around 10:00, the windshield on the center console(s) typically has that gap between the two. What’s the suggestion to get that corrected or cleaned properly granted theirs a quarter inch and say it may be oxidized? Remove windshield? If not possible to remove?
This is exactly why I am one of the best around. I get customer after customer that say I do a better job. I am a hand detailer and can see that people are not doing what I do. I really want to just power wash them and wipe it off, but I know the finished detail the way I do it will be better.
I’ve read on other detail sites that you should never use degreaser or magic eraser because though it does a really great job of cleaning, it also slowly takes off the protective coating in marine seats, which greatly shortens the life of the seat.
Hey Drake, watched a ton of your videos and you mentioned a product that is the only one you really need for cut, polish and seal. Can't seem to find that video showing the product again. Wished you worked in Delaware! Thanks, Ross
Great videos. Wish I would have found you when I lived in Pensacola. Shared you site with a good friend of mine who is a busy boat broker in your area. Your work appears top-notch
No rinsing off the degreaser? Just wipe off with dry microfibre? Just bought an older ski boat, she is sound but aged and particularly dirty on the upholstery. I’m pretty much counting on you to bring her back to life from afar! Great channel mate, thanks from the land of Aus👍
I would say rinse off the degreaser if you do a heavier dilution of 3 to 1. The mixture that I put in my spray bottle was pretty light, so it will not hurt the seats once you wipe it off and clean it with a 303. Thanks for the comment
Great great video. Best thing for mildew on the vinyl. I’ve tried everything and still have the spots. I read all the comments and found one comment you made about bleach. Most all cleaners have it or some variation of it. If used sparingly on light brown seats on a Key West, so think it’ll screw it up. I always wash thoroughly after those other cleaners and then use 303. Just can’t all the dang spots out. Haven’t tried magic eraser and bleach yet. Thoughts please. Again they are the light brown colored vinyl. Thanks in advance.
Hey Ronnie! If you do use bleach, be very careful, just a hint of bleach with hot water. On colored seats I would just stick to degreaser. I would feel more comfortable using bleach on white seats instead of brown ones.
A lot of videos I’ve watched they said make sure you 100 percent wash off the degreaser with soap and water after you use it but I just saw you just put the 303 on after you just wiped it off. So I’m not sure what the proper way to do it. They said if you leave the degreaser on there without washing it off after that when the sun hits the degreaser it can do the same as bleach by drying out the seats and stitching.
First: love all your videos, just ceramic coated my boat hull this weekend using your videos as a guide and it looks great. Question, do you have any suggestions on how to get sunscreen (orange) stains out of the seats? Thanks again for all the super helpful videos.
Awesome! Thanks for watching! For the sun screen, you can try super clean and magic erasers. That should work, sun screen can sometimes stain seats bad. You can also try alittle baking soda on the stain, let it sit for a few mins on the stain, if it’s on a white cushion
@@hollyc9135 I did, well most of it. First thing I learned was not to use bleach. I tried a bunch of stuff but the thing that worked for me was using a mr clean magic sponge and leaving it in the sun. Once I got it as white as I could I put a protector on it from star bright
Great Videos, Very informative with detailed information. I followed your steps but I still have light-colored mold stains, how do you remove those stubborn stains.
great videos bro, one issues i have in Australia i cant get purple power, though the active ingredient is Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether. Can I just buy this chemical and dilute it? If so how much should i dilute it?
Hey there, I have really enjoyed your videos and the education I've gained to properly care for my boat is priceless. My looks better now than ever before. I had a question for interior protection. Can you apply a sio2 ceramic spray on top of 303 and how lond do you have to wait? What types of ceramic coatings do you recommend for interior seats. My boat sits out in the sun most the season in Texas as I use it 2-3 times a week.
What interior true ceramic do you recommend? Can it be added on top of 303 or does the vinyl need to be degreasesed and cleaned prior to adding? I just finished my coat of jescar ultra plus on the exterior, and it's phenomenal!
Hey there! If you are not carful, you can discolor some things, such as vinyl and colored vinyl with degreaser. That’s why I dilute it and use it sparingly.
Okay quick question, if you are cleaning colored seats blue, red, etc do you need to use a white rag so that the purple power and colored micro fiber don’t stain the seats?
ive read the magic erasers damage the stich. whats your experience with them so far also, how do you clean the oxidation around the windshield and bow rider seat area which is only a few inches and not flat.. Chaparral bow rider
Iv never had an issue with the magic erasers, bleach will cause you issues with the stitching. I don’t really use bleach anymore. It’s hard to answer that question without seeing what you’re talking about, you can either try to just get your pad in there as best you can. Or you may have to just do it by hand.
I follow your content, the videos you make and upload are great man! Good stuff 👍 I enjoyed the RV detailing video, because that's what I'm trying to do soon apart from vehicle's.

I do own a 2018 Regal 28 Express which is kept at Legendary Marine in Destin and have a couple of questions if you have the time. 1 - Is there a detailer over here that you would recommend and 2 - what advice would you give boat owners like myself for keeping the boat clean, especially one stored on a rack in a seemingly dusty warehouse? Thanks!
Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately I do not know any detail that work with legendary in Destin. They have made it very expensive for detailers to work there, which is why we know longer service there. If you call the front desk they can give you a list of contractors that are able to work there. The best thing you can do to keep your boat clean is wash it at least once a week, never store it while it’s wet, also keep it protected with a wax about every 4 to 6 months and once a month spray McKees 37 Hydro pearl on the boat. Coming up in about a week I’m going to release a video specifically addressing this issue for boat owners to keep their boats maintained and cleaned. So stay tuned!

Hi Drake, great videos, I am getting ready to detail my personal boat, so started watching. Question, It's not even that hot today, 82 in Nor Cal, and the seats are so hot I can hardly touch them, and have no shade. What should I do?
I detail vehicles and I have 3 people wanting pontoons detailed. They want their pontoons to a mirror shine. How should I charge for a pontoons boat ? Can you charge a certain dollar amount per foot of the boat length? I have people tell me that I don't charge enough for the vehicles I do , but like you I take pride in my work and I have repeat customers and then they get me customers by word of mouth .
Whatever you are thinking of charging to polish pontoons, take that number and double and possibly triple it! It’s a big project. I’d price it at $30 per foot per step at least. Here’s a video that I did on polishing pontoons. Hope this helps! 😎m.th-cam.com/video/QrF-McBOEHQ/w-d-xo.html&feature=emb_title
You could just be honest and tell the customer that you’re new to boat detailing and that you don’t know how long it will take but that your rate is X dollars per hour. Or just quote a fee and if it takes longer than expected accept that as a learning process and adjust accordingly in the future. You could also pose as a customer and make some calls to see what others are charging.
Love the videos man. Not a professional like yourself. But man your guidance keeps my boat looking fantastic! Followed this to a tee and vinyl looks like brand new. You mentioned using ceramic to protect. Is there special vinyl ceramic or just the regular spray coating?
I normally clean windows and power wash I have a customer who wants me to clean his pontoon boat seats they have some mold but not too bad I have no idea how much to charge? By the way I love your style you do amazing work and amazing videos congratulations you're pretty awesome
I have heard that Magic Eraser can Damage seats is that True? Do you recommend rinsing the royal purple off with dawn and fresh water before applying 303 Thanks.
Occasionally to get the heavy dirt out will be fine! Just don’t forget to use some sort of marine vinyl protection afterward! If you are cleaning your seats all the time super aggressively with magic eraser then it will cause premature wear, but a one/twice a year de-grease/grime cleaning will not hurt it as long as you follow up with protection every time
Honestly I have found that this system works on sea deck. Instead of using the detail brush use more of a harder carpet / deck brush. Spray a little bit of the degreaser or you can also use Dawn on the surface, scrub it in and rinse it off really well.
does this strategy work for cushions that aren't already as clean and beautiful as these? I am buying a 1989 Bayliner and the cushions definitely need work! I wonder if this cleaning will help or if I'll need to replace them. Thanks for the videos! Sooo helpful!
Glad you like the videos! Yes, you might need to be a little more aggressive with the magic eraser on seats that are really bad. It’s typically not the best thing for them to be scrubbed really hard with a magic eraser but if they are that old then doing that is better then having them look bad! Just make sure to Always follow up with a protective coating like 303 after you are done scrubbing with magic eraser
Not criticizing but is there any concern of wear on seats from the magic eraser? I've used them on my hockey goalie pads with great success but people caution about overuse and wearing down the pads given it's basically just a super fine sandpaper
That’s a valid question! But I have never had a single issue in 5 years of using them on seats. The only time you will have problems is when you use them with bleach. But it’s not the eraser it’s the bleach.
As a boat owner, who uses a professional detailer, I am wondering why most detailers use a spray bottle to apply products? I understand that product overspray is not good for some surfaces, but useful for the intended surface, so why not use a wet towel application rather than so many spray bottles? I am not being critical, but want to adopt the best methods for myself, to not do damage as I am trying to do good! Thanks, Venice,FL
Another great video Drake! Quick question, I have what looks to be small rust-like or hardstain dots speckled all over my non-skid flooring. Is there any specific product that would take this off? I'd hate to use bleach on it but these spots are just horrible to look at
@@DrakesDetailing I actually had some rust aid laying around and tried it. It took it right off! Thank you brother I appreciate it. P.S. That could be a cool video idea. I could not find a single video on how to deal with these spots.
Cutting or grinding metal for a repair and not cleaning well will leave tiny chips that will rust and stain. Remedy is get off the boat to cut metal. Been there !
What do you recommend to clean your boat seats for every use? I come down on the weekend for boating at the slip and my seats are dirty from the dust from the cover, what should I use?
You said not to use bleach, if at all possible, so what about diluted hydrogen peroxide? Does that damage/dry out the stitches like bleach? I have used HP to kill mold before, because it is “softer” than bleach.

What types of ceramic coatings do you recommend for interior seats. My boat sits out in the sun most the season in Texas as I use it 2-3 times a week.
SIO two is fine for interior, you don’t have to hardly wait at all before you wipe it off as it’s basically just a spray. It’s not a true ceramic.
What interior true ceramic do you recommend? Can it be added on top of 303 or does the vinyl need to be degreasesed and cleaned prior to adding?

what about older boats that the seats look yellowish ? what's can we use to turn them white again ?
Same process!
After cleaning a textured/grooved fiberglass floor, what do you seal it with? Do you just use a spray wax?
Great vids brother. I use your recommendation all the time. What model sunglasses are those?
Hey man! I honestly don’t know haha
If you are cleaning your seats all the time super aggressively with magic eraser then it will cause premature wear, but a one/twice a year de-grease/grime cleaning will not hurt it as long as you follow up with protection every time
@@DrakesDetailing thanks very much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to reply appreciate all your great information you're the best
hey man, would you recommend any products for detailing a boat with sea deck? or perhaps a video?
@@DrakesDetailing OK, that makes sense. If you ever need an example boat of how to turn a zero into a HERO, I'm your test dummy!! 🤣 😂 🤣
I am not being critical, but want to adopt the best methods for myself, to
not do damage as I am trying to do good!
Thanks,
Venice,FL
Just personal preference! Everyone’s different! 😎
how do you clean the microfiber towels... is it by washing? BTW, I love your videos you are one of my favorite you tubers.
Thank you!! Yes, washing machine with vinegar or you can buy microfiber wash soap. Run washing on hot and dry on the tumble dry setting
Hi Drake, do you clean (wash) the microfiber towel or buy new fresh ones for every new job?
I wash them in white vinegar in the washing machine
I just got some blue stains from a floating tube on my white vinyl. I tried the eraser and it’s not full off. What can I do ?
Hey bro! About the only thing you can do for that is use a magic eraser and degreaser like you said, or you can also use degreaser with a rag
Worked awesome. Thank for the info.
Thanks for watching!
Got a yellow stain from bug or bird crap. What can I use to remove it nothing from west marine doesn’t work, in my vinyl seats on my pontoon
Try a degrease like simple green and a magic eraser
I’ve experienced magic erasers chewing away the vinyl like sandpaper if used too often on seat cushions.
🤙🤙
Another great video Drake! Quick question, I have what looks to be small rust-like or hardstain dots speckled all over my non-skid flooring. Is there any specific product that would take this off? I'd hate to use bleach on it but these spots are just horrible to look at
You can try rust aid.
@@DrakesDetailing I actually had some rust aid laying around and tried it. It took it right off! Thank you brother I appreciate it.
P.S. That could be a cool video idea. I could not find a single video on how to deal with these spots.
Awesome!! Thanks for the idea!
Cutting or grinding metal for a repair and not cleaning well will leave tiny chips that will rust and stain. Remedy is get off the boat to cut metal. Been there !
What do you recommend to clean your boat seats for every use? I come down on the weekend for boating at the slip and my seats are dirty from the dust from the cover, what should I use?
this stuff is great for seats and your boat!
://drakesmarinedetailsupply.com/products/starke-hydrate-waterless-wash-rtu?_pos=1&_sid=0dca807b8&_ss=r.
I am in NYC and would like to know how much you charge per boat ?
Thank you do you offer classes
An online one is coming out soon! Stay tuned and keep watching 😎
My boats owner's manual specifically says do not use magic eraser.
Then I would stick to that.
What is your option on Ceramtic coatings on the outside and inside seats?
Great info Drake........
You said not to use bleach, if at all possible, so what about diluted hydrogen peroxide? Does that damage/dry out the stitches like bleach? I have used HP to kill mold before, because it is “softer” than bleach.
I would shy away from it, it can stain vinyl
Great vids a question are all your boats pressure washed first. As they look clean before you do them.
I always wash every boat before I start working on it.
What do you charge for this service or how should I price just a seat cleaning and condition no ceramic coating. Thanks. Enjoy your videos.
$15 per foot per step
