I've also wondered what the point of drag bubbles was. Thought I was missing something. Anyway, yeah, that's about as comprehensive a breakdown as I've heard. Almost makes me want to undock my HIC, even after the massive nerf! Guess they're still viable as bubblers, so they will still get some use down the line .... eventually!
Right??? I don’t get it lol. And they’re definitely still viable, but just very specialized. Maybe since there will be fewer HIC pilots we’ll be able to get the hulls for cheaper? 🤷🏻♂️
Good explanation. Some more explaining in game footage would be nice. Bubbel pilots have a huge responsibility. They can kill or safe a whole fleet! Ah yeah and be in voice coms!!!
Hi Killmail here..Theoritically- The drag bubble is a specialized bubble used to catch cov ops ships. The idea is to have the other gate bubbled- forcing the cov ops pilot to cloak up - drift -and warp cloaked. The drag bubble on the other gate will drag the cloaky beyond the gate on to the bubble. Since the cloaky passes through the gate- he might get decloaked and hits a timer- by which time we should be able to lock and subsequently blap the pilot. But for me the drag bubble is the ultimate killer- It creates spatial dissociation (significantly more than catch bubbles) even in the most trained pilots. I have noticed that they take 10-15 seconds to realize what is happening.
Hey killmail! I hadn’t thought about that but that makes a lot of sense... we’ll have to try it and see if that works. You’d think it would since the cloak should break when they pass within 2km of the gate. Would be really useful to catch the cov ops with the new scanners as well... 🧐
my head cannon for drag bubbles is they affect the sensor that measures distance when calculating the warp tunnel exit. If your ships sensor beam hits the bubble when focusing on at the warp target, the bubble creates a stronger sensor reflection so the sensor gets the wrong distance.
CC set up a great catch bubble in C3 this past Saturday. It forced a PanGen to cancel their attack on a timer and engage the NO fleet trailing them to avoid being decimated.
They also love catch bubbles to stop fleets from moving in many jumps ahead. Good tactics with just 1 or 2 dictors to slow fleets down. It's a big pain when moving a battleship...
So whats the avg distance it takes to for the warp acceleration to stop, also finally a trap more suited to catch angel ships since they reach that speed easier, the theory I have is one can feather the distance away to target a ship type. And if it does work you can use a stealth spotter to cycle it off to catch a portion of fleeted ships. One day.. One day.. Awesome video
There's no real canon lore for the drag bubble. It was simply bad coding in EO. By the time it was discovered however, there were already too many iterations on top of the original code. The mechanics that allowed drag bubbles became legacy code that couldn't be fixed without breaking a bunch of other stuff. The drag bubble, along with all other bubble mechanics, then became such an important part of game play that it would've been a shame not to carry the coding over.
Great explanations! Thanks for the shout-out, that was a fun fleet :)
Absolutely man! It was an awesome fleet so well deserved recognition :)
Great video
Very good. Subbed

Nice! Wish I’d seen that one. Sounds like a great strategic use of a bubble...

Its a gravity well that pulls you out of warp to it.
Best stuntman Intro.
I wish I had bubbles, I am going to go make some now
Double bubble rolling roadblock.

And this is what happens when I rush to get a video out before I leave town... 🤦🏻♂️
Poor Destroyers smh
I know 😭😭
