An intimate portrait of British singer-songwriter Kate Nash that follows her journey over several years in her pursuit to remain a creatively and financially independent artist.
After being dropped by a major label, Kate learns (the hard way) how to navigate the music industry as a self-sufficient businesswoman and creative. The film provides a unique insight into the challenges an independent artist goes through, and the resilience required to live and create art on their own terms.

Wow I remember being obsessed with her album and then she sort of just disappeared. Glad she got a chance to have her say about what happened.

oh WOW!! I was so confused as to why she switched to riot grrrrl music after Made of Bricks. I'm glad she found her voice and is living her best life now

I literally feel bloody sad that I didn’t know she was still creating music. To be fair, I fell out of love with everything in my life back then.. but it makes me question why I bothered so much with just mainstream artists. Not as much these days, but I think when you’re younger you’re naturally drawn to it.
There’s so many stories of female artists being ‘moulded’ by recording labels to sound & look a certain way, it completely crushes their self esteem & creativity. I’m so glad Kate has continued to create her own sound & is still performing.
Now I’m off to listen to her tunes!

@@lordeismyqueen5486 probably My Best Friend Is You or Girl Talk.. I love the heavier sounds and empowering lyrics of these albums. "Nicest Thing" and "We Get On" from Made of Bricks are also some of my fav songs of hers ❤️
      And yours? 😊

Gershon Nundkumar - My Best Friend Is You is definitely my favorite Kate Nash album, I know that album got a lot of criticism because it supposedly “flopped” because it didn’t do as well as Made of Bricks as it was predicted but it holds some of Kate’s best songs I think. But I also really Yesterday Was Forever and Made of Bricks, Girl Talk is still growing on me to be honest, I really like the song Sister, that’s definitely one of her best songs.

The lead single from her second album, Do Wah Do wasn't very impressive. Poor chorus but expensive video. No offence to her... careers bomb not only because of failing trends but also because of bad tunes.

Do Wah Doo is one of my favorite Kate Nash songs. the song did well, actually. Her second album might not have done as well as Made of Bricks as it was predicted, but it’s still my favorite Kate Nash album and holds some of her best songs.

She wants to make and perform music. Those things aren't inherently nasty; what's nasty is the predatory types who hang around the music industry and control the female performers, sacrificing their mental health and profiting from their financial success. Kate is trying to be a part of the industry while avoiding that type of man. She's now controlling her own sound and image.

She’s a British Singer/Songwriter, she blew up in the UK 12 years ago with her single Foundations that went to number 2 on the British top 100. Along with that she had a platinum selling record and won a Brit award. If you live in the US you probably haven’t heard of her since she hasn’t been a big name over, here, but I feel lucky that I know who she is.
