Happy New Year, All! I've subbed part of the Boku no Hero Academia Segment of the JUMP Festa 2019. Since BNHA/MHA, of course, is not the only series featured in the event, they had very limited time and were really doing things in a rush. If the subtitles become too fast to read, please blame them for goofing around too much lol I'm very welcome to corrections, so comment away! I won't bite~ Do note though, that I have done this on a whim and chose not to take the literal translations in some parts. Also, neither English nor Japanese is my first language, so tell me if some parts are weird! Some facts that I should probably mention, if you have zero knowledge about Japanese: 1. "-chan", "-kun", "-san" are honorifics. I've listed them from most informal to formal. Basically, they're used as a suffix to honor a person and show the degree of your relationship to the one you're referring to. 2. "Sensei" generally means "teacher", but it is also used to refer to professionals in all fields. Here, I chose to translate it to "author", but I basically meant the "mangaka" of BNHA/MHA. 3. "Yakitori" is skewered chicken. You grill that chickeny meat goodness. Simple, right? Wrong! You have to understand the art of ze chicky meat. Chicken meat is more than just breast or thigh parts... WE'RE TALKING GIZZARDS, KIDNEYS, LIVERS, HEARTS, TESTICLES...Okay, they're not as extreme a dish as those sound. They look very much edible. Just, you need to know that there are different parts of a chicken wing and that when you gather meat from a chicken's neck and pierce a wooden stick through that gathered chunk and grill it, it's delicious. 4. "Seigi no Kokoro" in the cheer that Deku and Bakugo's VAs chant. It literally means "Heart of Justice". It's also the Japanese name of the Pokemon Ability "Justified" where the Pokemon's Attack stat is raised whenever it is attacked by Dark-type moves. I actually don't know how to properly translate that in English to keep the cheery tone, so I just squeezed in the nearest rhyme I could manage. 5. Tetsu and Tomo. They're a comedic duo. They're known for their "I wonder why" gag. Basically, one guy sings about unusual things people usually do and the other guy acts that out. Look, I'm just lonely because everybody else around me is annyeong haseyo and I'm the only konnichiwa. It sucks, because THEY'RE MISSING OUT ON THIS MASSIVE CUTENESS. I need somebody to understand why I'm crying on how cute seiyuus can be... OH GOD THEY'RE SO CUTE.
2:50 (sort of) Okamoto is saying something about “Sasu-Kaji” (I don’t speak Japanese so I don’t know exactly what they were saying). It’s like an inside joke or kind of a meme between the MHA Seiyuu. Sasu-Kaji is short for “Sasuga Kaji” which means something along the lines of “excellent, as expected, Kaji”. They call him that in the recording booth to tease him. I don’t know if you translated it differently in purpose or not but here’s my two cents,
the english dub actors: **sitting on a chair and thoroughly discussing the characters, plot, etc.** the Japanese seiyuus: SHOTOOOOOOOOOO LMAO **does the circling around thing**
9:12 I love the way Nobuhiko-san emotes Kacchan in vulnerable moments like this; the squeak at the end was really an impactful contrast to how deep and gritty Kacchan usually is
I didn't like the dub because of how they changed lines on dialogues, I know it's for timing or else but I don't get the feels. Also animes mostly have this kind of drama cd, radio program, live voice acting, etc with the va. They don't have it on dub. Also consider that their dialogue in japanese are according to the manga which makes it official(?) and the author also watched the japanese version
I know right? honestly, I thought I disliked the eng dub for most of the anime's I watch but I obviously haven't heard the Bahasa dub (my countries own language dub) Deku's voice is too deep for his own good-
S3 ep 23 is my favorite of the series because of Okamoto-san's voicing Bakugo's scene at 9:12 The hidden sensibility begrudgingly revealed in the tone he chose to give to him. It surprised me, because I guess I was expecting more of a rage explosion and less of a vulnerable moment (as far as the proud Bakugo Katsuki would let himself show). It surprised me and then I was in tears. I always cry when I watch this scene.

Those popular scenes were also THE MOST HEARTBREAKING SCENES EVER. I think every fan cried at those scenes, Todoroki saving Iida from "falling", Deku making Shoto learning something that changed him, everyone screaming All Might(that made me cry in a second) and Bakugo breakdown, a moment when he understood some things, the moment when he understood the fact that if you think you are the best you fail to improve
The end: Todoroki and Bakugou doing something together, then Deku being jealous and All Might is just there watching his shonen 😆 I love how Horikoshi senpai made extra drawing to make these scenes less emotional 😂
1:20 I loved this scene so much. When I was rewatching Bnha and I saw this scene again I really felt it and my love for Kaji Yuki's voice acting just increased by a landslide.
Daiki is so cute ❤️ and also I live for how much fun yuki is having with “SHOTOoooooo” I love how they haven’t let that go and we’re very much past the 2nd season as well as Nobuhiko being a legend man I love his voice acting it’s so amazing the way he adds to kachan so much Much love to all the seiyuus
