Thank you for actually demonstrating the tonal variations of the guitar through various styles. Others run everything through so much chugging gain on EVERY riff that every guitar sounds identical no matter what.
I have this same guitar 60’s unburst...love the slimmer neck..grovers..pickups are hot....love the standards now no gimmicks no weight relieved bodies....like a les Paul ought to be...good job👍👍🎸
I have owned 100s of Gibson les pauls from the 50s too now I have too say the 2020 Les paul is one of the best modern Gibson les pauls made too date , Gibson really up there game the neck feel is second too none , nut work is tight , simple electronics and great finishes , solid bodies and sound great ... My 2020 60's Ice tea is absolutely beautiful and weighs 9.2 lbs solid body my go too guitar now .
@@Gern5838 yup .. pickups are hot but you can dial in for classic rock I do not play much blues so they work for me and with the band they easily cut thru the mix.. you can use for blues just turn volume down to 8 8 1/2
Fantastic demo! Watch this video over and over! Beautiful sounding guitar! Hoping one day I can get my hands on a Gibson Les Paul. Great job with your videos! Not many people talk about how the tone and volume knobs can change the sound so much!
Some of them have a really strong burst like AAA and some have AA and some even have A like almost plain.. but all in all the burst is not very bold(go look at a guitar store, you'll see what I mean)
This probably is a AAA. Its weird that every rare STandard from this range has a flamey top while most of them are pretty plain. The AAA exclusives are even hit or miss. You have to buy from Sweetwater or AMS because they show each guitar and you can choose and know what to expect.
Bought a brand new classic for 2k which I probably should have kept it's a little warmer but I saw this and traded a week later...... Fn things get major feedback too...
The Standard is a fine guitar but no way is it better than the Custom Shop 58, 59 and 60 re-issues. Standard has two piece body whereas the custom is a one piece with higher quality wood. The glue used is different ( modern wood glue versus Hide Glue in the Customs). The Standard production models surround the Truss rods by a tube whereas the customs have no tube surrounding the truss rod and this affects the neck resonance. The Customs have Custombucker pickups rather than Burstbuckers, and have a long neck tenon rather than the production short neck tenon. The adjustment screws in the bridge on the production models goes into a metal post into which the adjustment screws go into. The custom bridge is screwed directly into the wood positively affecting the vibration of the saddles and bridge. The metals on the custom bridge and tailpiece are of a higher quality than the production guitars. The Customs have higher quality electronics with paper oil bumblebee capacitors rather than the orange drop ones used in the production guitars - this is why the custom tone controls are much more responsive and varied. There are other differences in headstock carve and the recipe of the nitro finish and the tuners. Taken all together, these differences make the Custom guitars significantly better than the Production models. This is not to suggest that the Production guitars are not great, it is just that they are not as great as the Customs.
@@kaitodesire Thanks. I finally got my 60s Unburst. I’ve been playing it everyday. It’s my first Gibson. You’ll never really know what a Gibson feels and sounds like until you actually own one and spent time with it.
Nothing sounds like the LP. Can't understand the hate for Gibson. The last 15 years have been sketchy for LP's but the 335 and the V's have been on point.
Beautiful guitar and you are an excellent guitarist. I have a question about the issues of Gibson G string tuning. The problem still on that string Or the 60s nut helps with the problem. Thanks.
@CarlosReina I have one of these guitars and I have no issues with tuning. As with most 3 to a side tuners, it helps to string the G string so the string winds UP the tuning pole, not down towards the neck. Improves the break angle.
I’m starting to think I have the only actual AA unburst. But it’s ok. What it lacks in flame it makes up for in tones. I was so in love with my SE Custom 24 that I sold my Parker Fly Deluxe I had for 15 years. I was thinking about getting another American made to replace it and was ready to buy a Silver Sky. I played the 60’s standard during a trip to the store for strings. Ended up leaving with a guitar instead. I love this thing. I played and owned Epiphone Les Paul’s and thought they were so good why buy a Gibson? I had a Gibson SG before. I didn’t see a big difference between that guitar back then and Epiphone now. But this guitar is actually worth the money. They finally have a Les Paul’s not from the custom shop worth buying.
So funny you are sharing this. I just returned my silver sky lunar ice to get one of these in unburst. Absolute no brainer to get that finish and the 60s neck is incredibly playable.
I have a 60s Standard 2019 I wish i knew if the grover tuners are chrome or nickle? I want to change the kidney tuner buttons only from kidney to tulip shaped.
I recognized parts of: Over The Hills and Far Away, Black Dog, What is and What Should Never Be by Led Zeppelin, and also Still Got the Blues by Gary Moore towards the end of the video. In the clean part he played some bluesy stuff that resembled B.B. King's style but I don't know if it was any specific song.
When I listen to clips, I much prefer a Les Paul, but when I get one, my strat always wins out. Watching this makes me want to buy yet another Les Paul...but I always end up selling them for a loss
I have this guitar and I never bonded with it. I’d sell it in a heartbeat if I didn’t lose my rear end on it. It looks great, plays fantastic and sound great but I just don’t like it. I bet it had more play at guitar center than it did since it’s been in in my possession. Im a Tele girl and the LP is a case queen.
@@joeldavis1040 Ended up going with the 50’s in heritage cherry in the end haha. Just liked the way it looked more in person. That 50’s neck swung it too.
The fact that the Gibson 50s and 60s standard Les Paul’s at that price point don’t have a long neck tenon is embarrassing. Even the Epiphone 1959 does. 🤦🏼♂️
You can swap out just the buttons for Hipshot chrome tulips they are really cheap but you can keep the Grover tuners they are pretty reliable. It's just a button swap keep the same screws 👍🏻
I have a custom shop 1960 reissue and it's a right piece of shit. Gibson logo is a fucking lacquered over sticker and all the electronics have failed, starting with the neck volume pot. I have top of the line guitars from all the top builders and this Gibson is by far the worst, most disappointing guitar I've bought over 50 years time as a musician.
Great demo. I just can't for the life of me understand why gibson can't make a great sounding neck paf. Always too compressed and shitty sounding. We want stiff and open sounding dickey betts tones dammit.
hey man you don't need to show how it sounds with the volume on 1 on 3 on 6 on 10 then treble on 3 on 7 on 10 then bridge pickup on +volume on 3 and tone on 7,6 it's music not mathematics ! or your video will last forever

I just bought one in this exact finish. What an absolutely gorgeous guitar.
Thank you for using the tone and volume knobs on your demo’s. Nobody does this except you. Best guitar demo’s on TH-cam !!!
