yes, genetics is a factor. but to an extent, a lot of it is under your control - healthy diet, exercise, consuming mentally healthy and enhancing food for the brain - within reason - i say this and someone will still find the one or two example that justifies them getting mad - that would just be their preference that they're blind to - raise your awareness, people

I don't think that's what the video was talking about. If you're already naturally attractive compared to most of the population, it's more likely you'll be happy, less stressed, and live a longer life. Your facial structures don't change just by changing your mood, and you can't just manifest attractiveness (unless you get certain surgeries). You are who you are, and it's sad to see people try to justify that to make themselves feel better.

I've actually observed the opposite. I'm ugly, and I've always taken good care of myself, but everyone that I knew that was super attractive because they were born that way take it for granted and don't take care of their bodies or have a good skin care routine. It's starting to show now that we're around 30. I'm looking younger ( still unattractive unfortunately) and healthier, and they're starting to age. They're still beautiful though, and there's nothing wrong with aging, but I just wish they would at least moisturize and wear sunscreen. They still sleep in their make up. Yeah, we " overcompensate ", if that's what you want to call it, but at least I'm learning new skills, and taking care of my body in a healthy way ( since my requires work unfortunately) . No one is saying that attractive people can’t feel negative emotions or can’t have challenges in life BUT if you compare then to people who are less attractive, they definitely have PRIVILEGES. In fact the more beautiful a person is, the more advantage in life they can get from it. Example if a person is in the Top 10% of looks, he/she would likely having a less hard time finding a romantic interest compare to someone who is just average looking.

    • @Scooby9er
      @Scooby9er หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Don't say such things, my friend. Suffering comes as an inevitable part of a fallen world. Selfishness in the human heart, a darkness that no matter how much vanity follows, remains unless dealt with. Beauty is in the character of a soul, not the flesh it dwells. Stewarding that flesh isn't a bad thing, but it's not your salvation, and it will fade like the leaves on a tree. Anything that has value has a cost. Jesus showed that when He took our sin upon Himself. The Bible says even the Son was nothing to be desired (physically), as that wasn't needed for Him to do what He did. If you're here, it's because you have purpose. And the only way to know what that is is to know the One Who made you and let Him show you what it is. If you want to get fit, you have to tear muscles. If you want to get smarter, you have to crack the books. If you want to get well, you have to deny what is making you ill. Nothing comes without a cost when the value of what it protects is so precious. You're precious to God, and the cost of what that means is His Son. Believe on the Son that you might be saved. Don't get bitter of suffering as it comes to everyone. It came to Jesus but He says to be of good cheer because He has overcome the world. He died, was buried and rose the third day as evidence of His Word. Without Him there is no purpose in Your suffering, but with Him, there is reward, comfort, peace, and purpose. I hope this was in some way encouraging to you and I pray it is contemplated in the heart. Psychology simply addresses the human condition, but it isn't a solution. Knowing about a problem and how it arrises doesn't eliminate it. No, there are many attractive people who had very dark past with abuse trauma or poverty.
Many poor attractive women end up either marrying someone richer or prostituting themselves just look at Brazil. Many favelas beauties end up on the street. Same goes for south east asia, a lot of their attractive women grow up in poverty and bad nutrition. As for men you have the prime example of the mug shot of a lightskin black man who had tatoos all over his body and became a model because he was attractive. He grew up in the hood with gun violence and traumas.
Same goes with many others. Your argument is absoletly the result of tunnel vision

Attractiveness comes from two things :
      Genetics, which cannot be controlled
-Lifestyle and environment which can be controlled to a degree.
A genetically attractive person can ruin their natural attractiveness from their lifestyle. Likewise, they can enhance their natural attractiveness.
A genetically unattractive person can get even more ugly with a bad lifestyle or enhance their beauty through a good lifestyle.
This question is similar to talent. Attractiveness is like talent.
Talentless effort beats talent that is not nurtured by efforts. But efforts alone cannot beat talent with efforts.

It's quite interesting that people link physical attractiveness to good health, when actually it's not necesserily the case. Like, beauty standards for women these days are still not somewhere near healthy, actually what lots of people deem attractive may lead to amenorea and some other stuff related to body mass deficit and low fat percentage 🤷‍♀️
Actually it's interesting, that one USSR writer promoted the same idea "attractiveness=health" (Efremov, ≈70-80th), and his blind spot was about conventionality of beauty standards, just like there.

For the most part, being attractive mostly just means you have good dentofacial development. Like the ideal “mewing” look, which means better breathing (bigger airways) which can greatly facilitate exercise, reduce anxiety in general, and prevent sleep disorders. take an adult who has their wisdom teeth and a wide palate with a projected face, 9/10 they are attractive, and probably have good upper airways.

Not necessarily. A pretty person can be quite unhealthy (not flossing, not exercising, eating mainly junk food, etc). And a person who doesn't match the beauty standards can be healthier (exercise, eat healthy, not smoke, etc). We are just attracted to a type of people who WE find attractive. For example, i like men with dimples on their face, even if they were unhealthy (if they have bad hygiene then no) i would still find them attractive.

So, stress makes women’s faces less attractive, as well as reduces Waist to Hip Ratio, increases Cardiovascular Disease risk, and accelerates aging. So, cortisol could be a significant factor underlying those results too.

It might be true but it's not my case tho, people told me I'm attractive and I grew up being bullied and sexually abused because of it, beside my Asian mom encourage men who was twice my age to date me when I was 14 and she told me being pretty is all I've ever good at. So I grew up neurotic as hell

Attractive people have their own battles.
The most frequent one I heard was that its hard make friends. Your own gender sees you as a threat and your opposite wants to be more than friends. People instantly assume you have it easy so they ignore your problems.
Women are vicious and give you dirty looks just by standing next to their man.
Nobody dares to ask you out cos they assume you are heavily taken so youre lonely. Another one is that they cheat on you due to their insecurity.
Thats what I heard the most.

Works the other way too. The more satisfied with life you are, the higher self esteem and genuine confidence you have, being less stressed and being a kind loving person who isn't afraid to be themselves, automatically make you a very attractive individual.
Also I'm sure alot of very beautiful get depressed cause they feel like people only like them for their looks and not who they are..but if that's what your after then sure, pretty good win.
But remember that attractiveness gets you alot of external pleasures, but being a loving, kind, passionate and honest person gets you a meaningful life.

I kinda wonder how much of this is self fulfilling. If you’re attractive you have more incentive to take care of your looks to keep up with that. That will include things like a healthy diet and excercise. Being ugly makes you more stressed and anxious and makes you less likely to get the same opertunities as a beautiful person so not only see you less likely to want to maintain your looks, you also probably won’t get the same resources in order to fund a healthier lifestyle. Wow

What this means is that you can also change your attractiveness by working on your health. You may not become attractive right away by doing this, but over time you will likely become more attractive than an attractive person who neglects their health.

of course eat well, don't be overweight, but you don't need to workout to be extremely attractive it comes down to genetics mostly, there's many gymcels who aren't atracttive at all because they have bad facial genetics to begin with, while someone like Chico, Paul Walker, Brooke Shields, doens't really have to workout and still more attractive than 99 procent of people who go to the gym.

Went to the gym and a PT said I could work out with him, it has been a year now. Sure I’m very polite and friendly but let’s be honest it’s not my personality.
