Thank you for the video. I’m travelling via İstanbul tomorrow and was wondering what’s the best currency to carry in hard cash Euro or USD or Lira?

They take all. I have paid for small purchases and food with USD and EU. For bigger ones I use my card. Check with your bank to make sure you can use your card and what currency will give you better rate.

For your purchases did you notice any higher charges on your card that were not reflected in the euro price equivalent for your home country? I'm asking because I read that sometimes in this airport some duty free merchants scan in euro then secretly convert to lira, which results in an add-on conversion fee to pay. This makes the overall total of the item a completely different absurd price. This is not noticed until after the purchase. I doubt this scam will be done in the high end luxury stores shown, as they have corporate headquarters to answer to, but want to hear your opinion. Thank you

All my charges are always in USD. There is an additional transaction fee on top of it, but is very minimal. I have never been charged in any other currency.

Hello, I’m here in Istanbul but I did see this shopping center in the airport I look everywhere. Can you please tell me where at the airport I’m going home on Friday.

The shopping area is at the international transit section. The airport is very big and you probably landed on a different part of it. Just ask for directions or follow the signs.

Hello is Louis Vuitton more expensive in istanbul than Europe?

    • @ThestyleproNY

Prices are the same. Shopping at the airport is Duty free, so you will save money there and will not have to ask for VAT refund.

@@ThestyleproNYbonjour, les prix des sacs LV dans votre vidéo sont les mêmes qu’en France.
Et vous dites qu’ils sont pourtant sans taxes ??
      Merci

@@oxxi34 Hi, they are tax free because there is no extra tax/duties charge on top of the price. For example the prices in the US are generally few hundreds higher and on top of that there is tax. I only report on what I see so people can make a decision where is best for them to shop.

Great video. Do you know if the prices already include the vat taken out?

    • @ThestyleproNY
      @ThestyleproNY  ปีที่แล้ว

It's duty free shopping. What you see is the final price.

Interesting, I bought few pieces of Gucci bags in Copenhagen airport traveling outside EU, they reflect the Danish DKK currency to the euro price on their Gucci official site. To buy at a reduced price which is 20% off the official price tag you have to prove with your permanent residential address details. They knock back the 20% of the price in store.

Thank you for your input, it gives a great info about shopping at Copenhagen airport. All airports I have purchased from only require your boarding pass in order to shop duty free.

They took a picture of my ID card on the info sheet I gave them with my address details together with my boarding pass. My boarding pass was on my phone. That was the process, but it went very smooth. I had called them in advance (1 week) to put a side a bag for me.

    worst airport in Europe.
I wanted to buy an Apple Watch and an iPhone and they weren't available at the airport. How can this be possible? such a big airport and doesn't sell apple. An Apple Store like Dubai and Qatar Airport

Sorry to hear that. I always enjoy Istanbul airport, the variety of shops and restaurants is great and time goes faster if you have a long layover.
