Figured I bring this up because I didn't see anyone mention it.
I played that as well as the one for Jurassic Park Lost World.. back in the early 2000s in Las Vegas (Gameworks arcade) good times. Shame that Gameworks changed location and reduced their arcade machines down by at least 60%
This Special version treatment was also used for Let's Go Jungle Special in 2007, which was made on the same arcade engine as HOTD4 Special, the Sega Lindbergh Yellow, and the similar features such as the immersive spinning in the machine, shared lifebar of two players, and an action button also made it into this game.

It's probably down to the fact they're using a PDA Electronic device that is malfunctioning due to the Magician's power as opposed to a physical book that can have the information written down.
It also seems like in order to make it acceptable for timeline, they made a new model for the younger G in this version and even his model in the original version was basically a modified, slightly enhanced version of his HOTD3 model.
They probably didn't consider the fact that they would make 4 Special, so for the G ending in OG 4 they most likely decided to reuse his model from HoTD3 instead of making a new one

From what I heard about Special originially, you had to do this with a shared life bar and no continues. The life meter *seems* a bit generous, but since it’s HOTD...
According to the House of the Dead wiki, "The Playstation 3 port of Special adds continues, replaces the life bar with traditional lives, and removes the compatibility mechanic." so that would explain it. Also, the default life count on PS3 is actually 3.
So @arronmunroe What say you about Thornheart's role in a future HOTD game? If we're strictly going by the chronological timeline of the games (Overkill - 1 - 2 - 4 - 4 Special - Scarlet Dawn - 3); we know in HOTD 3 he does appear in the special ending with a canister of the cure and says "It appears he (referring to Dr. Curien) didn't understand it's true purpose". So if a HOTD 5 ever comes out, maybe that will conclude the series?

Similarly, the Magician from the first game gets revived in the second game and you have to fight him. And In "Scarlet Dawn" both the Chariot and the Hanged Man from the first installment are expected bossfights. So, in answering your question... yes, they both did kill Justice before but there's always a new antagonist that is able to revive them through other means.

Yep. This was included on the PS3 version of House of the Dead 4, but it was originally a separate arcade cabinet. What's cool about this cabinet is there is a screen in front of and behind the player, and the seat can rotate to face the other screen at certain times.

The lives are set extra high at 9, but I guess it technically is the same as if I set it to 3 lives because of how few were used. Still, it's not that special considering how short the game is. I did a lot worse when I played the regular House of the Dead 4.
