I just did this tutorial. If you're doing this for the first time and you're a beginner sewer, I suggest the following: 1) use a stiff fabric! Jersey or lightweight fabrics will be tough to stitch. 2) Yes, it is easy to "finish" as far as Quiana Unique stops. However, you gotta stitch the hems and finish the seams, otherwise the pants will fall apart before the end of the day. This is a fair amount of work, hence why using a stiffer fabric will help immensely. Thanks for an easy-to-follow tutorial!
Thank you for a concise tutorial. I just finished making my pants, took about 3 hours, but I'm not an experienced sewwer. Instead of the matching ties, I added a coordinating ribbon on front and back, and on the back ribbon I added velcro to avoid the knot at the back; and now they're adjustable too. I also hemmed all edged for a more finished look. I love the fit and I intend to make more! The whole thing cost me $5.50! Thank you!!
I loved these in the 70s and would’ve continued wearing them all these years but I never learned how to sew. We used to wear wraparound shorts also. I believe at some point in my life I did make a pair of these but it was so long ago. Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial
In the eighties, I had shorts like this. They were so comfortable and airy. I lived in Fresno, California and they were so cool - perfect for the 100 degrees plus weather.
I am a child from the '80's and being that I am short and squatty, clothes off the rack often didn't fit me well. I made A LOT of wrap around pants and skirts and this was my go to for colorful spunky clothing when Punk Rock was really in. :D
Thank you! I have watched SO many videos trying to figure out how to make these pants. Yours is the first one that made my mind understand. Lol. Great video!
Thank you! I could NOT figure it out from looking at patterns, but your video makes it really clear. Also you are adorable and fun! I am going to try this this weekend. Need fun pants!
This is incredible! So quick and simple for such great looking trousers. I'm teaching my kids to sew this year and I think I'm going to start with these (and maybe make a few dozen pairs for myself...).
Thank you so much! It was really hard to sew the jersey fabric I'm using with the machine - I ended up pulling the fabric as I was feeding it into the machine, so that it was already stretched. I also used a zigzag stitch and stretchy thread. It makes the hem look puckered but at least the stitches won't rip out! I also changed the initial 36 by 40 rectangle into a 40 by 40 square so that I had a bit more thigh coverage... or may it made it longer. I'm still not sure. Anyways, great video. Thank you!
I don't yet know how to use the sewing machine or to make my own clothing but I'm definitely subscribing to your channel. Soon I know I'll manage to make this beautiful pants, your explanation is very clear. Big hug for you, and thanks.
Most detailed video on the subject. It took me a long time to figure these out from other videos bcuz they speed them up. One can choose length and width to their own body size, shape and desired length. Love that purple!!!♡♡
Thank u so much 4 sharing this video, I am so stoked I tried it last night, turned out great, I used a different type of material, kind of crape type so I had 2 hem my material all around the edges, made a V cut N the front of the pant & added a sheer piece of material where I cut the V shape, I really like it.
This was super helpful! I made mine out of denim, so I had to hem everything. That took a while, but overall a fairly quick project that look fantastic. Thank you so much for the quick and easy tutorial.
I am trying to work this out in my head, but seem to be working backwards, sorry.. The part immediately under the crotch needs to be the same as your hip measurement + ease + hem allowance (if you are using a woven, you will need to hem the open edges on the sides). So, when you lay your fabric out, I would measure down for the crotch, the measure across - at that point you need 1/4 hip measurement + ease + hem allowance (if needed). Make a test pair first, knee length and using cheap fabric with similar qualities as your good fabric, to save your good fabric to make a good pair after any adjustments are needed.!
I would rather not have a wrong side, as this flows better if I'm not worried about hiding one side of it in the draping. This is by far the best demonstration of how-to on this I've seen. Thanks for posting!
How wide was the original fabric you used? What was the measurement of the first piece you showed that you cut 40x36? I have been looking through my stash to see if I had enough fabric to try this out
You just saved me hours of work on my costume project for class. Mine aren't going to look as pretty due to what the costume is but I think what you showed here will work very well.

Excellent tutorial! I made these back in the '70s! I've made several pairs over the years. You did great, keep up the good work!
Hi. Given that you have experience with wrap pants, could you please tell me how you use the bathroom in these? Which tie do you open? Front or back?

Thank you for this video. You are great at teaching. You make it simplistic and totally understandable.
What type of material is best suited for this?
I don't yet know how to use the sewing machine or to make my own clothing but I'm definitely subscribing to your channel. Soon I know I'll manage to make this beautiful pants, your explanation is very clear. Big hug for you, and thanks.

You explained this so well, thank you! I was having trouble visualizing the crotch seam depth I wanted and this solved my issue!
That's great

Quiana, do you have a tutorial for making a magic skirt? Please let me know if you doone. Thanks!!
I don't but I need one
Ooh love these! I used to have a pair but had no idea how to make more. I'm off to find fabric!
If you dont mind me bothering you, whenever she measured for the length, how did she measure for the waist size?
How much cloth is required to make this pant
I love those. Wish I could make them
Thank God I found this today 🙌 am gonna try it out
You are my sewing hero!
Great video Sis, very easy and simple instructions.
This isn’t as hard as I thought, thanks for sharing🌸
Gurl! Those slacks are too cute!!! I wish I can give you a thousand likes! Love your creativity!
+Ginger Ashford thank you so much
You said the width of the legs is based on your measurements, how did you determine that width in order for the pants to still be flowy enough

would you say this would work for a men's trouser as well or increase the arch size for the crotch?
Maybe 🤷🏾♀️
Great video, easy to follow instructions which were at a sensible speed, I have been longing to make a pair of these, now I can, thank you!
How wide was the original fabric you used? What was the measurement of the first piece you showed that you cut 40x36? I have been looking through my stash to see if I had enough fabric to try this out
I’ve watched so many videos on how to make this and this one is the most in depth and really great when you showed how to tie them too.

Do you know where I could purchase the pattern for these pants? Thanks for sharing°
How would you make these to fit someone who is plus size? I have a friend who asked me to make her a pair. I'm a beginner when it comes to sewing.
You would have to know her measurements to add more fabric
Hello Unique
Were are you????? I love watching this video. Can you make more.
Thank you but I don't make items for other people
Brilliant idea thank u❤
This fabric is fantastic to wear, I got me the exactly same, but can not work it. It's to slippery to sew. I wonder how you worked with it so easy
Girl this tutorial was amazing. Can’t wait to try to make some of these today 🙏✌️ thank you!
You just saved me hours of work on my costume project for class. Mine aren't going to look as pretty due to what the costume is but I think what you showed here will work very well.
That's awesome! I would love to see how it comes out
Unfortunately I had to settle for a dress form so the pants looked more like a dress :(
What kind of fabric did you used? Thanks! 🙂
That is a stretch neck kind of like a jersey fabric
Thanks quiana

Me gusta pantalon envolvente XL gracias
Can you use a non-stretchy fabric?
A lot of non-stretch Fabrics you have to him all edges so it won't unravel. Other than that you can use a non stretch fabric
So INNOVATIVE!!!
what kind of fabric is that thankyou for the answer
what fabric better? i tried to cut it. Thx.
Hola esta precioso, podrías poner subtítulos gracias me urge quiero hacer uno igual
