I actually thought for a second (naive me) when the phone function was revealed that it was still a fob and the car manufacturer had added the phone feature. Then I realized it was a phony fob.

Can't believe your nearly at 300K man but it's well deserved as you have one of the best channels on TH-cam. I bought what looked to be a great phone on Amazon without realizing it was coming from China. Well it was a great phone for about three months then crapped out and wouldn't you know it was just past Amazon's return date so I had to ship it back to China for warranty. Shipping it back the cheapest means I could (retired on social security) still cost me $38.00. Three months go by and when I emailed them to ask when I could expect a replacement phone they claimed they never received the one I sent. Not having any proof I sent it I was out the $175.00 for the phone plus shipping cost. Learned my lesson to never buy anything from China again. Sorry for the long story but the whole point of this was just to say I understand the high shipping frees. LOL *Dance the Skies*
I buy stuff from China all the time and it is shipped to me in New York for free, often in what they call an E-packet. Can't you arrange such a thing or is it only reserved for official merchants? BTW if those apparently government subsidized free shipping to the US deals are only available to merchants, the next time you buy something have them ship it directly for you.

I use their 3t, which is by far my favorite phone when I was simultaneously test driving a Google Pixel and a Samsung S7; though it does not have a pixel 2's camera, I prefer their light OS skin over stock android, which seems lacking to me as well as the alert slider.
The main problem with ordering phones from china is the bands. So most chinese phones does not support all of the European bands and that means that the reception will be crap.

Chinese tech companies which trade via ebay send the goods FREE to the UK. I bought a power bank for £1.99 and it was sent free. My wife's Doogee phone was also sent free.

Just get a cheap feature phone for calls & texts (like a Nokia 108 or LG A225GO) although I guess you can call & text using something like Whatsapp or viber ........?
