I wish this was an actual full track that lasted like 5 or 8 minutes whenever you enter combat. Some of expansions' smaller tunes (like the ones you hear on the teutonic campaign map from time to time) are just so awesome an immersive, wish they lasted alot longer.
The soundtrack motif is also found for Finnish population results with Israeli DNA company MyHeritage. Apparently the earliest trace of this song I've been able to find is from a 2006 track called 'Kokkovirsi' by Gjallahorn, which is a medieval folk-style Swedish Finn band. Given that the Kingdoms expansion came out a year later in 2007, this seems to point to an older origin, either it was used as a clip from a sample library, or the Gjallahorn motif inspired Jeff van Dyck to compose his own version. Before digging into this, I personally used to consider this song was as British as it comes, now it seems to be more Finnish albeit Scandinavian-leaning, guess I'll settle for that.
see kingdoms was a grade A DLC it offered new and immerse campaigns and troops it also added a different situation and important historical moments, like the crusades and the Americas but what we get with rome 2 is absolute garbage compared to this amazing work
Tony Moua indeed it was but the other horrible additions such as the beast of war DLC and the copy and paste factions they gave us was a SHAMEFUL DISPLAY by CA, also ceasur in Gaul and the Hannibal campaigns and even the spartan one were dull and boring and really didnt offer much besides a couple new factions to play and some cool historical points to delve into. All in all tho Rome 2 stunk in my opinion and even with these factions they have given us they arent really that interesting not like the hattori and ottomo in shogun 2 those guys might not have been game breaking but they offered a semi new play style with the strengths of these clans like the hattori sneaky units and the ottomos christan beliefs and there amazing fire power aquired by foreign trade. I hope Attila brings CA out of this hole because if it doesnt im afraid this series might die with it ;c
True, Attila TW does look promising with it's game play and the Viking DLC. But what is actually the kick in the butt and shawn me away from it is the System Requirements? Yes Attila is asking for more than Rome 1 and Medieval 2 requires. Even more than Rome 2 put together with the likes of Shogun 2 and Empires, And Napoleon. That is why I will only be playing Rome 1 and Medieval 2. Cause these two have mods that adds replay value to them.
Tony Moua o ya get medevil 2 middle earth mod or the warhammer mod its a great time, you can check out a couple other channels that has these mods on and they look spectacular
Thorléif Hákonarson Yup. In the form of the Gallowglass, whom were Scottish warriors that moved over to Ireland to serve as a sort of 'permanent' mercenary force for the Irish kings, though many of them became Irish over time.
Man, the Britannia Intro from Medival 2 total war is soo cool... The music is so wonderfull, beautiful and so epic. I don't no why but i love this intro, it's the best in Medival 2 Total war, I LOVE this intro :D
Voice acting, music, theme and storytelling is so much better than current TW games. Don't understand how hard it could be to get this franchise back...
Love this game! Love the units, love the soundtrack, love the campaign! I love to play Wales, being part of it as I am, and make allies with Scotland and Ireland! England? Well, I like to leave that faction unless they attack me.
@@WitcherGerd Ah heya. No matter friend, nice of you to join in anyway! As for Norway, they can invade England as Vikings if they must. So long as they don't bother my shores, I'm all good.
@@Vikingr4Jesus5919 nice, and historically the vikings never really bothered the Welsh but they eventually tried to raid the land but were repelled by king Rhodri of Gwynedd.
IMO the most slept-on Medieval 2 Expansion and I honestly don't have an answer for why except we were all a bunch of edgy Medieval History small-brains who were too busy gooning with the Crusades expansion. That and nowadays there's mods for the same setting as this campaign that blow it out of the water, but I still had fun with it before I discovered modding.
I've been trying to find the ost for a long time. There was a thread on the Total War forums where it was available, but the file has been removed. All I have is an extended version of the other intro's ost: th-cam.com/video/81mFs6p7JhI/w-d-xo.html
I shall do your will as soon as I install the game, good sire. (Since it's built on the Rome: Total War engine, I think you could say I have some experience. Reached Civil War with Julii, only used money cheats a few times when Brutii attacked my richest cities, the general in Salona, as I call him, the Duke of the Dacian Lands, is boss at defense and has held off massive Brutii armies off under my command.) What is the strength of England: Infantry or Cavalry? Asking out of curiosity.
Good news: I have installed the game and was having a BLAST playing it. Bad news: I didn't record the beginning of the campaign, so you are sort of going to miss the first few moves if you wish to see how it all went. I wiped out France by assassinating their royal family (just like I did in MTW2 Americas as the Apacheans), Spain is at war with me, I'm ripping Milan's fancy flag split after they betrayed me, and I took back Dublin from Portugal's sudden attack. 'Hurrah' for England!
Robloxerboy999 i have downloaded the game i have to say medieval 2 (with kingdoms) (without mods) is pretty much equal if not better then rome 2 (with alot of mods including del et impera) the only thing that troubles me are the controls of that game
War... it has always been a part of life in the British Isles. From Roman times unto present day, no King or Emperor has called this realm his own. Five kinds now stand ready to do battle over these lands, they will make Britannia theirs... or die in the attempt!
iuvenisD What do you mean? Shooting up like that? Well, a recurve bow is not the same as a crossbow or a gun. An arrow doesn't fly in a straight line; bullets and crossbow bolts are susceptible to wind like an arrow, but in a much less dramatic way. Arrows are almost entirely dependent on the strength of the draw and weather conditions. Even the best bows can't shoot an arrow straight and hit the target past a certain distance, and that's assuming it's stationary and there's no breeze. If you want to hit really distant targets you have to angle your shot upward because the arrow naturally drops off after a while.
I see. Your wish shall be complete once I get the game. I shall announce the victory (or, I wish not, a lose) publicly - either through a blog or video. Or something else. I'll think of something.
Welsh king Gruffydd ap Cynan returned to his old kingdom in North Wales with an Irish army in the 11th century to defeat a usurper, so arguably historical.
Well, I am soon getting Medieval 2 Total War + Kingdoms (GOODBYE, 13GB OF PRECIOUS MEMORY). In such an occasion of fate conspiring against you, when I install the game, I shall beat one faction for you with another faction under my control. Pick one for me to control, and one for me to defeat. Can be ANY 2 factions from the same game (as in it cannot be Lithuanians vs. Timurids or something like that, as they are not in the same expansion campaign). I could even make a video of me doing it.
After ten years, the background music to this intro still is epic as ever.
Still as elusive as ever too, can't find it anywhere
I want a track

Rome 2 suffered from graphics and in game problems. Such as crashing and the infamous black screen of load up. Which was a total nightmare for all.

Still the best intro music for any total war campaign. The drums get me.

The Irish did have native gallowglass during the Viking age but to be one you had to have a Viking father and a Irish mother.
Being of English and Irish decent, I’m totally unbiased when I say this is the best campaign in the expansion.

why wales vs ireland. They fought against eacg other in reality?
Philip Jaster, possibly as England conquered Wales around 1280 and used them in their campaigns abroad so don't see why this can't be historical.
