Today I'm talking about the new Master Splinter in the NECA Eastman & Laird Mirage Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Series.
I really love what NECA is doing wit these window box packaging neca figures. This Master Splinter is fantastic, I'll obviously compare him to the other Master Splinters from NECA and my favorite part is the baby master splinter and baby turtles that come as accessories in this neca action figure package! I also love the interchangeable hands they give you as well as the wire-based tail that bends into place! We also get a new utrom figure and mouser figure from NECA! Overall really impressed with this figure!
The NECA TMNT Mirage line was created to pay homage to the original TMNT comics created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. The figures in this line are designed to resemble the Turtles as they appeared in the early Mirage comic series, which had a darker and more gritty aesthetic compared to the animated TV shows and movies.
The figures in the NECA TMNT Mirage line are highly detailed and articulated, and they often come with a variety of accessories and interchangeable parts. NECA has released figures of all four main Turtles: Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael. They have also released figures of other characters from the Mirage comics, including supporting characters and villains like Shredder, Foot Soldiers, and various mutants.
It's worth noting that NECA figures are often released in limited quantities and can be highly sought after by collectors. They are known for their attention to detail and quality, making them popular among TMNT fans and action figure enthusiasts.
Master Splinter is a fictional character in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. He is the wise and elderly sensei and mentor of the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael.
In the TMNT universe, Master Splinter was originally a human martial arts master named Hamato Yoshi. After a conflict with his rival, Oroku Saki (also known as the Shredder), Yoshi and his pet rat, Splinter, were exposed to a mutagenic substance that transformed them. Yoshi became Splinter, a humanoid rat, while Splinter transformed into a humanoid rat with heightened intelligence and martial arts skills.
As Splinter, he took on the role of raising and training the four baby turtles that were also exposed to the mutagen, becoming the father figure and teacher to the Turtles. He taught them ninjutsu and the ways of the ninja, instilling in them a strong sense of honor, discipline, and teamwork.
Splinter is known for his calm and wise demeanor, providing guidance and spiritual teachings to the Turtles. He is often depicted as a skilled fighter, using his knowledge of martial arts to protect his sons and fight against the forces of evil, particularly the Foot Clan led by the Shredder.
Throughout different iterations of the TMNT franchise, the backstory and details of Splinter's character may vary, but his role as the Turtles' mentor and father figure remains consistent.

Who's picking this one up? Leave a comment!
No I looked and it’s empty as crap. Can’t find it anywhere.
I just got mine today!! It's fantastic. Great video/review as always!!
That's great! Thank you for liking the video!
Yeah, that stinks when the stores are empty so soon!
@@Pixel-dan but good video anyway
The Splinter figure alone looks great. The accessories do give a lot of bang for you buck.
Yea it’s awesome!
The best-looking Splinter figure ever, no doubt about it. He's changed a lot in all the many iterations of TMNT, but to me, this is the definitive one.
TMNT fans are EATING right now. Has it always been this good? Or is it in the last few years?
Last few years really
Actually we are NOT eating... we can't afford FOOD... because every time we get paid it goes to new figures.
All these figures suck
@@Charmander009 you have bad taste. These are some of the best on the market now
@@Charmander009Nuh uh
Love this figure, but now I really need a Mouser army builder pack
Yes! Have to!
Been getting back into TMNT after a good few years now. Have been watching your content since around 2012 with the release of all those TMNT 2012 figures and sets. Been considering getting back into the TMNT collecting hobby and picking up a few figures from the Mirage line. Loving the vids, really darn nostalgic!!
He's such a good figure. The size and cloth robe make me think of the vintage Yoda.
Oh that's so true! Did you pick him up?
Mirage TMNT are best TMNT. Love the look of these NECA versions
They really are great!
I'm very picky with Splinter, but I love this. I'll have to keep and eye out.
You like him too!?
Thanks Dan you really know how to make these videos thank you again and Neca
Thanks so much!
Excelente review, esta figura de splinter esta increíble y me gusta mucho!!! Lejos el mejor!
Thank you!
This is amazing and finally we got the Mirage Splinter from NECA and another NECA Utrom figure and baby turtles like the others that came with the NECA Ninja Turtles in 2008. I like his regular rat form like the 2003 one the came with 2003 Hamato Yoshi. I hope we get a NECA Hamato Yoshi too.
I'm glad you like it! I really love this Splinter and all the accessories!
You need to do the other mirage figures reviews! Foot soliders, triceraton, clone shredders, casey, utrom!
Great review of an awesome figure. Can’t wait for the SDCC coverage!
Thanks! And it's coming! Anything you're looking forward to seeing from SDCC?
@@Pixel-dan The Dan & Randy show? Despite only collecting NECA Mirage, I love seeing all of the reveals!
Terrific figure. He looks great with almost any turtle.
Yes!
Great video! Can’t wait to get mine, hope it’s in good condition as had to order from Ali as NECA seems to have forgotten international customers 😢
Feels like NECA has forgotten everyone!
@@Pixel-dan are you guys finding it a struggle to find these and other Neca at retail now? In the uk the last toon release we had was the scum bug set. The triceraton and clone mirage figures still have not been released here so Ali is now our go to place
Awesome figure!
We agree!
TMNT 1987 is my favorite version of the TMNT nothing beats a classic. Keep up the good work your awesome
1987 was awesome! But this one is actually from the comics. Thank you for the compliment!
@@Pixel-dan I know I was just saying about how 87 was the G.O.A.T. your welcome
Ah! Agreed!
what about tmnt jagwar and dreadmon from Neca toys
This Master Splinter is spectacular, the only thing I didn't like very much is his short stature, he should be a little taller, excellent figures from TMNT Mirage Comics, very good like those from Neca Cartoon, greetings bro 💪🏻🇦🇷
I'm kind of enjoying how small he is to be honest.
I really want to get this figure. Love all the accessories.
You should get it! Did the video help solidify you wanting it or were you already set on getting it?
@@Pixel-dan Well I think I may now. I didn't know how much possibility was in Splinter. But it looks like they put a lot of possibility in such a small figure. What's very interesting and fun. So if I see him at Walmart again I would likely get him.
Looks Great 👍
You saw him at Walmart!? Crazy!
What is that middle Utron from?
Lov this version Splinter just little disappointed mouth doesn't move.
Ah that wouldve been a nice touch. Other than that a pretty solid figure!
Great review Dan, i would love to pick this guy up but with the price mark being basically 40 and how 40 used to be what the 2 packs would Cost I just can’t seem to pull the trigger
Well, I get that, but you also get an utrom, a mouser, a baby splinter and 4 baby turtles!
For real! Do you know how much NECA Mousers cost? This one comes with a free Splinter action figure.
I picked up one thank God. I wish the NECA mirage line was easier to get as this seems to be the hardest of the NECA lines to find
It's so hard to get them! May have to talk to them about that at Power Con next month! haha
@@Pixel-dan please please please please please please please I don't even have a version of the turtles
Ha! I'll strong arm them into sending you everything they've got!
@@Pixel-dan I knew there was a reason you're one of my three favorite TH-cam content creators
ha! I love hearing that! Thank you!
TOTALLY AWESOME SPLINTER ACTION FIGURE, KIND OF REMINDED ME OF MR. MIYAGI FROM THE KARATE KID (1984) MOVIE!
Sometimes I feel like that's where they got the inspiration from!
@@Pixel-dan I TOTALLY AGREE FRIEND!
Awesome!
Very cool vid
I’ve seen splinter but his box was damaged
Thank you !
@@Josephfigurez I hate when that happens! But, just means you can definitely open it!
I wish neca would re-release the turtles from 2008 for the 40th anniversary
oh that's a good idea!
@@Pixel-dan thank you!
You're welcome!
They could always change their minds, but they've said before that they're not going to release them again because you can still get the bootlegs for less than what they'd charge to make new ones.
I just started collecting vintage TMNT and I will not buy figures from other TURTLES-lines (for a while, maybe some day).
Oh? Why not?
@@Pixel-dan Collecting the vintage TURTLES is expensive and I also collect other toylines (MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE). I really like other TMNTlines, but they are not so high on my list. Maybe I get to them some day. But I have not unlimited Cash. 😅 Sadly. 😉
Well you know I'm a fan of you collecting MOTU!
@@Pixel-dan Its THE TOY-LINE from my childhood. Nothing else comes close.
Some may find the size of him off putting but Master Splinter has been depicted as kinda small sometimes so maybe that's why they made him like that?
Yep. I really like how small he is.
@Pixel-dan me too he can reach the knees of his enemies easily 😈
Take out the knees! Sweep the leg!
@@Pixel-dan 🤣 that'll be his signature move!
When the power meter is full!
When are you make the pizza fire van
I've made it! It's scheduled.
It's a tea pot
Yep!
pixel dan i'm here 9 minutes after you posted!
Thank you so much Daniel!
first also when are you gonna review the mutant mayhem pizza van?
It's coming!
This is the reason I hate soft goods on figures. Aside from a wired cape, it just looks like a wash cloth wrapped around a figure. Definitely should have been a sculpted robe.
He's a rat. It probably is a towel or some other discarded cloth that has been repurposed as a robe. 😁 Splinter wasn't known for his sewing skills and I don't recall seeing a sewing machine in their lair. 👍
@@elliotbaltazar the issue is that cloth wrinkles don't scale... So what happens is you get this oversized looking piece of fabric loosely tied to a figure. Sculpting is the Way.
@@tompollockjr144 Very valid points, and there are pros and cons to both styles. There is definitely a lack of cohesion when soft goods are used on figures, but I do love the freedom they introduce to the articulation and usually the weight reduction when compared to sculpted clothing.
@@elliotbaltazar they could always do like the Super 7 ultimates and include both a soft goods AND a sculpted robe... Best of both worlds.
Very valid points and opinions here. I actually like the robe but can see why you may not. Having two versions like Super 7 would be a great comprimise however probably would make it more expensive. The fact that you get so many accessories with him is of great value to me!
