I am not the only one that uses the floor jack as a scooter, hah

It seems like a great idea until you hit a grain of sand and your jack abruptly stops and you go over the front lol. Been there.

Hi, I love your channel, I'm looking to buy an 02 locally owned by an older gentlemen who takes very good care of it, but it has over 200k miles as a daily driver. What would you recommend to look out for on a vehicle like his, what should I expect to need to replace, and how much would be a fair price for a vehicle like it?

Hello, do you need a larger bolts? Or you use the oem bolts?

Longer bolts should come with the bump steer kit

would it be advised to do these spacers if roll center adjusters are already installed?

I’m not sure. Frankly I don’t totally understand roll center but in my experience installing roll center adjusters definitely lowers the car.

lowering vehicle height in general requires bump steer correction. It won't be perfect, but it'll be mostly corrected.
RCA ball joints also contribute in lowering the vehicle height, but it corrects the roll behavior in accordance to center gravity shifts during cornering (degree of G force)

Yes, you'd still benefit from both. Roll centre correction balljoints correct the angle of the lower arm. These rack risers correct the angle of the tie rods.

@@DIYGuysvideo it definitely lowered the car, i had to raise the coilover to get it back to the original height. easy enough mod, ill add this one onto the list!

How low does your car need to be to warrant installing this kit?

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

It depends on a few things. How low the car, how much suspension travel you have at that low height, and your alignment. Your best bet is to buy a bumpsteer measuring kit and see for yourself. Hmm. Maybe I should blow $400 on a bumpsteer kit and measure the AP1 and AP2

I had to think about this a moment. Its a 1:1 ratio of how much you lowered and how thick this spacer should be.
Ideally they would have made it as stackable shims, so you could more precisely match lowered amount to spacer amount.
So I'd say if you're lowered less than half the thickness of this shim, adding it would actually be detrimental. If you're lowered exactly half, its doing virtually nothing.
If you're lowered less than, or more than the thickness, you're benefiting, but its not quite a perfect match. It doesn't need to be perfect, but if its way off you'd probably want to make your own. I'd say if you're lowered more than 1.5x thickness, you'd either want to fab or maybe stack 2 (you'd need custom length bolts too).
That said, if you're lowered more than 1.5x of this thing, you probably just did it for looks, and precision handling isn't a real concern. So guessing no one needs to really fab their own.
So its just do I need it or not. And that comes down to if you're lowered more than .5x of this things thickness.
