After watching this video, I purchased this item. VERY happy with it. The magnet is strong and my phone has not moved whatsoever while driving. Highly recommended.
Just got one of these. It's boss!! Going over bumpy roads and pot holes, doesn't even budge the magnetic connection. I 😍 how easy it is to just grab my iPhone and go when getting out the car...
I also live up here, and what I don't like about them is winter in general. My car has vents, but it doesn't have a secondary switch to control which vents are on/off. So during the winter, if I have the heat blowing, and the vent is open, then its blasting heat, which is NOT ideal for a phone, especially if you are also using it as a gps.
agreed, that is the other issue. Wish car manufactures would come up with built in phone holder into the dash, won't look any worse that the after thought tablet sticking out of the dash as many have gone too in the last few years.
I’ve been using a magnetic case like this on my iphone 6s plus for about a full whole year when I started to realize it fucked up my compass. My phone can’t even rotate automatically i need to rotate it manually using assistive touch every single time for movie/games purpose. So yeah I won’t repeat the same mistake on my iPhone 11.
Forgot to mention that the vents cool your iPhone with the A/C on! With regular suction cup phone holders, your phone just bakes in the sun while the battery is also charging
Have to believe these magnets affect the internal compass on the phone. Has anyone ever done actual measurements with the magnets ON and OFF to show they have no effect?
@@rohansomanna6239 Hi Rohan, No, not being sarcastic. The iPhone has a compass (and a compass app). It uses that compass to help navigation. On the Apple Support Website it specifically states that users should be careful to avoid placing their phones near sources of magnetic interference as that can impair the functioning of the compass. I previously commented to you and included the link to this article but that caused the comment to be rejected. So I've rewritten the comment here without the link. I hope this clears up any confusion.
In my experience, the big rectangular plate definitely affects navigation, the smaller circular plate, not so much. No actual measurements done by me of course, but speaking out of experience - I use google maps.
Since it Ac vent mount will the cool moisture from ac vent does it create problem for the internal parts inside wireless pad and the iPhone becuase of those ac vent cooling moisture?
I have the old model before this buff looking one. If you use the Apple Smart Battery Case the phone is heavier so it's best to use the rectangle magnet the problem is with the weight it wears the piece easily but this newer one might be different
Didn't see anybody mention this yet...but can the mount be ROTATED to align the edges and text? Having the Spigen logo off kilter like that would drive me bonkers!
Keeping it on the air vent make the phone go super cold with the AC on. Recently I have seen battery degradation on my iPhone, don't know if that caused it! 🤔
Khalid M.D.: It's very secure. I've never had mine shift at all because of how strong the magnets are. If I were you, I'd get the Kuel H12 instead though.
I'm using it in India which has one of the worst roads on the planet and trust me I haven't faced a problem that the phone has fallen off when the car goes through even the deepest of potholes.
You neglected to say a word about its capability to securely hold when actually driving. Is the magnet strong enough to securely hold your phone during real time driving conditions? Potholes, RR tracks, etc.
From my experience, yes. Granted, I rarely encounter any major potholes where I drive. That magnet is relatively strong. Keep in mind that I only tested it for a couple of days, and this isn't an in-depth review.
9to5Mac You're lucky! I live in western PA, highways and secondary roads here are in terrible shape. I can't see that magnet being strong enough (especially if it's placed on the inside of a case) to securely hold a phone under certain rough road conditions.
@@tcconner7388 hell yeah for western pa! I use a sticky/washable reusable suction mount to the flat top dashboard. I don't trust these magnet mounts yet. I just take it off when not in use and no marks left on the dashboard in over as year so far

That's not what I asked, I mean can this be used without taping it to the case (or phone), and still use transparent plastic so it doesn't scratch it. That way I can reuse it.
Federico Goldsztein it may leave residue depending on what kind of glue it use. To clean the residue is pretty easy by using WD-40, residue will melted and very easy to rip off by paper towel or tissues. FYI WD-40 contains just a little bit toxic component, so wearing a pair of rubber gloves will be safer.
not specifically this brand but if you're really interested and have the money, Mophie has a battery case with their so called "Force Hold" and a similar car mount like this that also charges the case/phone at the same time. edit: they call it charge force, my fault, it's a wireless charging case and the vent mount is the charging pad.
why would you have heat coming out those vents during the winter? If you have the defroster on, the heat goes to the windshield and not out forward facing vents
Even with the vent "closed," heat gets through. It's not a hermetic seal by any stretch. You need to shunt all the heat away by using the floor vents only. If your working your phone's processor hard, such as when using it as a navigator, and also have a warm area behind the phone...Not good.

Does it affect your phone's magnetic sensor

Does it work for other phones too? Like a Samsung M52?
Nope just iphone
Not working with most of the actual Mercedes Benz models because it is hard to attach due to the structure of the ventilation slot.
Phone will sit straight upright on the magnet, if you get sun reflection you won't be able to tilt it away.

Hey Jeff, what if you want to take it out, does it leave residue? Can you maybe just use it without taking the paper off? Just place it in there.
Stick it to the case (as shown), not the phone -> no residue on the phone. Without the sticker, the metal might scratch the phone.

Does the metal plate make the case bulgy?
You can definitely feel it as you rub your hand over the back. But I wouldn't call it bulgy.
not really, it's really thin unless you're using one of those thin gummy style cases
The plate which comes along is one of the thinnest piece of metal I have ever seen.
