PAC-MAN would've been way more striking to those 80's kids. Don't get me wrong, PAC-MAN did have a lasting impact back then and even now. But this music would've supercharged his popularity.
Well, to be fair, it is using a sound add on chip, but that chip is one that's used by several namco games anyway, and doesn't diminish the impressive nature of the game in any way
I love how this only starts a few seconds into the game. You're lead to believe it has no music like the original game, but then this kicks in right as you would complete your first ghost chain. Amazing.
It's amazing how M2 went out their way and replaced the MMC mapper with the N163 mapper, making the music you hear here possible. I'm also shocked that this all works on real hardware. Now my only question is, how many channels are used on the N163 in total by this game?
I think according to an oscilloscope video of this theme by another TH-camr, this game uses 4 channels of the N163 expansion chip, only 2 of those are reserved for the sound effects. But, that's just my guess, though.
@@supermariobro93 You got it, 4 N163 channels is the maximum that's recommended because any more would introduce noise as there aren't enough samples for each channel to be unperceivable to the human ear.
the audio is echo-ey cause I’m an idiot! I have no idea what I was thinking back then when I toggled this one option on my emulator. sorry about that! original comment description: if you’re wondering why it sounds echo-ey, I modified the song to play in stereo, so it sounds better with headphones and etc
This does not make it sound better on headphones. It's unnatural, and there's a reason no music creates artificial stereo for an entire song like this. It would've been better to just upload all the songs in mono. That's how they were meant to be heard in the first place.
@@HLRxxKarl yeah on second thought (but like days after initially uploaded) I thought it was better to upload it unmodified (I’m a dumbass) but it was too late after that, apologies on that part 😔

@ξχρgαmεr64 i wasn't talking about the date XD, you can grab the rom and playing on an actual nes/famicom, because that's what it is, an nes game, the collection that you are playing is an emulator
this is a recently reworked NES demake that at first originated in 2007/8. The original fangame's ROM is probably around archive.org , but the reworked ROM is only bundled alongside Namco Museum Archives.
Yeah it sounds cool, but as i hear it it's not pure NES sound. Probably would have to use the Japanese Castlevania 3 Sound Chip to make it sound like this, if not using a C64 SID outright. IDK i kinda want to hear a true 4 channel NES rendition of this

it could have released in the 90s, when the chip that this specific game uses was made
Even for the 90s this game would have blown peoples minds especially the fact it was on a famicom
it works on real nes hardware
just with a extra sound pack
Its crazy how pacman has a demake that not only looks amazing but plays well too. Like this shouldn't be possible yet here it is and I love it.
And the fact that it's an actual NES rom that can actually work on real hardware just makes it even better.

You can get the sounds working on a compatible Everdrive cartridge since it has the necessary sound chips to emulate it.
@@EbolaGW I thought the NES had no capability of using sound enhancement chips.

Probably because of it using the Namco 163 alongside using the 2A03’s DPCM channel!😄

This music is made using a special Namco mapper chip. Its basically an add-on to the NES located in the cartridge. Man this is impressive.
This is fittingly a more upbeat version of the CE BGM, it is definitely at least loosely based off it.
"Mario ost is good!"
"Sonic is way better"
That's nothing to pacman ost...

Ok, So this is a updated NES Pac-man, but how is this suppose to be like the Championship Edit- *Music Plays.* !!! Oh! ...
I remember playing this for the Xbox 360
I think we can play this on a nes!
We could lol, its online just search retro games pacman champion edition

NES: 💣
This is the only thing I care about regarding this game
I imagine pac man championship edition arcade cabinet could use boom box like spikers
It would be called:
De-Entrance or 8-Bit Entrance.
Bit-Trance
Pac-Trance
not every chiptune has to have "8-bit" or reference the fact its a chiptune in the name
well this is a jam😁

Also your right this is a jam
oh how the turn tables
How is expansion audio supposed to work? It still doesn't work on the NES
By either using a Famicom, a Famiclone, or soldering a resistor onto the expansion pins of your NES and a wire on your 60 to 72 pin adapter.
Where can I download the rom?
You can BUY it on Steam or Switch.
