The buy in from riders is palpable today, and probably because there is a lot of money on the line. Which is great! We get a stack field of good riders coming back to action and quite a few unknowns. That's what it's all about.

I'm with matthes on wanting to take this seriously, but there's no way I can put the proper weight on this thing with the double and triple points structure of a measly 3 races. it's too gimmicky. at the very least, make the motos count as standalone point (like in MX). I love that the tracks on these drag strips really are a legit mix of SX and MX. I think they'd be a much better split if Feld didn't nerf whoops and dragon backs in SX, but that's not something to hold against SMX. love the concept. just view the "championship" as an exhibition no different from Bercy or the old FIM "championship" of off seasons past. excited for actual racing though. definitely more interesting than mxon, imo.
I think they should make it a real playoff with eliminations every round. In NFL one off night can send the favorite home.
Round one eliminate the last five. They still race for places 20 to 16 in the final two rounds.
Round two eliminate 11 to 15. Again they race for placing in final round.
Final round. Winner take all!
Reset points every race. Use race finish for gate picks and give the guys more untimed practice. Or do a super pole for bonus points.
Loved smx last year. Tracks were fast and unique, riders got after it.

He definitely wants this title and it fits his riding style making him want it more. I said after Ironman that Tomac would come in swinging. Was hoping Jett would ease back into racing and not get confidence the first race back. If the tracks are like last year Jett will have more problems with the more sx style tracks. He also has more experience now so he may have a better setup. They should just stiffen their MX suspension for the first SMX finals. They can jump laroccos leap and jump to flat but can't do one rhythm section in SMX.

I love the super motocross style of track. Supercross is sometimes to tight and one line and the start is everything. This style is faster and has both elements and I think the riders dig it too which is the most important because if they like it we should too.

Chase hit a new level and I don’t think Jett has a chance. If Jett can beat him coming back from injury, he truly is an alien.

@MotoRevelations he very well may. Have to wait and see. I do know that Jett didn't have much left in the tank and several guys behind him were turning out faster lap times with regularity, chase being one. Chase has an issue with keeping the bike upright

Forkner would probably be paralyzed if there was rubber mats. Concrete lets you slide. Rubber mats will stop you instantly and cause much more damage
@@mxandy1 ya....they should pour tons of oil on the concrete.....and blobs of grease on the ends to help keep the oil in one spot.....

I bet the riders really enjoy these races, not saying there isn't pressure to win but feel the pressure is not nearly as great to win a championship in SX/MX. Plus a nice reprieve from 35 min 90+ degree motos in the summer. I can only imagine its nice to race these tracks with a little bit of both of SX and MX and the weather is going to be primo tomorrow in NC!!

I've been there for MotoGP, GP auto, road and mountain bike racing events. I really think this would be a very exciting venue. I'd bet you'd have record attendance of well over 100k, possibly 200k You guys should look into it.

Personally as a fan I hope SMX takes off and we have more of this and less in indoor SX. We may than get more of the EU guys to come over to compete. SX is lame its all about marketing, why the EU guys can smoke us out on the Mx tracks. #makemotogreatagain

Sure riders want to come back for SMX; easier track, big money, AND, only have to risk injury for 3 rounds. New rule; riders can only ride one series, be it MX, SX or SMX, what would they pick to ride?
Next they will dock deegan for doing a quad. Carter Gray raced the track and was penalized for being good.

Unfortunately MX is one of the worst to accept change. That’s why it lags behind others so much. SMX has been fantastic for the sport.

C’mon JW. The ONLY reason guys are showing up is because it is THE ONLY TIME THEY WILL ACTUALLY GET PAID ALL YEAR. PERIOD! The money would have been more well spend had they just spread it around the regular sx/mx series and crowned a Grand National Champion. The 3 race “playoffs” could quite possibly be the most retarded idea ever implemented in the sport.
We literally get Eli, Jett, Webb, etc coming back at the end of the season to race chase. That would never happen without these playoffs, guys would just take the summer off n come back a1

SMX wasn't the result of some Feld or MXSports visionary who wanted to change things for the better. It was a premature, kneejerk reaction to the burgeoning WSX series, and if they had waited to see if WSX was going to pan out before reacting, SuperDuperMotocross would never have come along.

@@fmradio42 do you watch these videos? That's what he does.. He walks around the venue and discusses key topics going into the weekend.. There is plenty of other coverage on TH-cam if you want to watch practice or qualifying.
I’m still out on calling it “playoffs”, first of all you don’t “play” a race, you race it. Second I’m tired of having to explain to people who don’t follow the sport what about this format makes it playoffs. Which is realistically nothing, it’s just a 3 race series finale. I love it, I’m excited for the racing, I like the format, I like the tracks, I just think the marketing and wording is convoluted. But this is all semantics and I’m nobody 😂 LFG CS4 🟠
