Agreed, music is art. Listening to Mastodon I hear the artistry. Each instrument has its rich texture, each voice its unique sound. Their lyrics tell stories, deliver excellent metaphor. I adore this band.
I love these guys. Overgrown stoners kind of growing up but still surprising everyone with every cool new album. Just listened to The Hunter. Awesome. Prog., metal, pop, teen monster mag. humor. Brent Hinds loves the Creature from the Black Lagoon. "The Creature Lives" is in the great tradition of Blue Oyster Cult's Godzilla. (BOC is the most underrated U.S. band ever). All I know, is no one better fuck with my goat!
I read some reviews on itunes from fans and listeners of Mastodon, and i'm tired of seeing a lot of people comparing every fucking rock band to Metallica. Don't get me wrong, I love Metallica, but stop comparing Mastodon "the Hunter" with Metallicas "Black Album", They are both different monsters. If you respect music in general, you will except the fact that every band has the ability to explore. Just give the album a listen, it flows well with all their past records.
@mechanik a vacuum is a vacuum it sucks things up some are better than others yes but there are many things that are unique to a guitar there are alot of different things about certain guitars and how are you supposed to know these differences if you dont try them out comparing a vacuum store to a guitar store is not really a good example for what your getting at.
