There you go, The Port-a-power reigns supreme ! This proves just how valuable one of these port-a-power units can be to a job. Good work John and ROADKING .
Man that was a tough job but fun to watch. It's hard to tell in the video, but it looks pretty rough inside the bore. If anybody can get it percolating, it's you guys. Thanks Roadking
hi guys i have been doing restoration for a long time , next time you run across a stuck piston like this one try this , get the hose from a compression tester and take out the valve stem . put a bushing into the quick disconnect off the gauge to fit a 1/4 inch pipe thread and screw it on to a grease gun hose . the grease will not leak out as fast and does not splash everywhere when the piston comes out . also a long lever grease gun works a lot better then a pistol grip one .
We had our thanksgiving 6 weeks ago (Canada). I am not sure why but maybe back in the day our harvest was earlier so the celebrations of bounty was earlier too. Just guessing.
Good job with the piston! Hope the bore isn't pitted too badly to use. Those turkeys would look a lot better to me with a piece of bread on either side and some miracle whip.
I am surprised you didn't hook a hydraulic power source like a farm tractor or log splitter to it. Even one of those electric over hydraulic units that are on these small dump trailers.
Wow, that looks remarkably good, do you (can you even) get new rings, or can you just clean those up? So just a quick scuff honing, and put it back together?
Getting new rings is no problem, they are actually pretty cheap too!! Those looked pretty good, if you can get them off without breaking them!! Hopefully the cylinder isn't too bad, but even that can be sleeved!!☺
I wondered what you were gonna do with that big sucker. nicely done sir! is that a Chevy in the drive-way? what's your opinion on the new'ish Silverado's? we need a new work truck!
Preface: I don't know how fragile things are on the motor. Roadking you are a body guy, why didn't you use a body slid hammer to hooked to the crank end of the connecting rod bolts and use that well John was porta powering the piston size?
I have a similar hit and miss engine. and I'm having a similar problem with the side year I can't get it come off and I don't know why do you have any advice
The penetrating oil might be a good idea. But the gear puller I was afraid I'd been the gear before I pull it. If I could only understand how that particular side gear comes off maybe I understand more what is stuck

Yeah, the guy that owned it put it back together, it runs great!! He reassembled it over a few weeks, that's why we didn't get a chance to film that!!☻
Looks like a birth procedure .... ROFL! Come to think of it .... It DOES look a bit like you RK ! ROFL! :) Sorry .... Didn't see the comments below .... :(

It gave birth your the proud father of a baby piston :)

I don't think it's too bad, we won't know for sure until we get all the mud and crust out, but the piston is in excellent condition!!☺
sure did put up a good fight
Yeah Buddy!!☺
Nicely done guys! What great idea using the porta powers.

We thought about grease but it would have cost over $100 to fill that cylinder!! The waste oil was free!!☺
Would love to see the restoration progress on the engine now...if you can get it
well done dudes let the rebuilding begin
Thanks Jim!! We still haven't looked at the cylinder, hopefully it's not too bad!!☺

That reminded me of my first child being born
I hope your Wife didn't have as much trouble as we did!!☺
88fiveoh1 where did you hook the porta power? Lol
Good job with the piston! Hope the bore isn't pitted too badly to use. Those turkeys would look a lot better to me with a piece of bread on either side and some miracle whip.
Thanks Bud!! The bore didn't look too bad but we really won't know til we clean it up!!☺
Success man!! Knew you guys would get it... 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😜
Thanks Bud!!☺
O pumpkin tree O pumpkin tree O how I love you Pumpkin tree☺️
Wow, that piston is as big as a paint can!
Cool I was waiting for it to puke when the piston came out.
I knew it was coming but not that much!!☺
Success guys,,, wtg. Figured on the last video on this that you would get it out. Time to call Mikey,,, Yeah man.
Thanks Carl!! We still haven't looked at the cylinder, hopefully it's not too bad!!☺
Crazy how stuck that piston was!
Yeah Buddy!!☺
I am surprised you didn't hook a hydraulic power source like a farm tractor or log splitter to it. Even one of those electric over hydraulic units that are on these small dump trailers.
We didn't want to make a project outta it, we just wanted to get the piston out!! This whole operation took us less than an hour!!☺
awesome
All things considering, it looks pretty good, i expected a hell of a lot worst.
We still haven't looked at the cylinder, hopefully it's not too bad!!☺
That's a big damn piston.
Yeah Buddy!!☺
just a little spit'n' polish on the bore and piston, be as good as new !!
Hopefully!!☺
It's Out! Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks Bud!!☺

Nice job, bring a tripod or a cameraman next time!
Thanks Bud!!☺

@@805ROADKING where do you buy your rings from ? , I have an old Mogul 2 1/2 hp ,4 1/8 bore that needs rings .
@@Cobra427Veight Starbolt Engine Supply has them for that engine!! Google it!!☺
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving Stoney!! We're still watching your stuff Bud!!☺
Fun video to watch.
Thanks Rick!!☺
I wondered what you were gonna do with that big sucker. nicely done sir! is that a Chevy in the drive-way? what's your opinion on the new'ish Silverado's? we need a new work truck!
Yeah John has 2 Silverado's, Lil Racer has a 2014 and I have a BIL with one!! And they all love them!!☺
that video gobbled up time
now take that onboard and remember we have sensitive people watching 😆
Preface: I don't know how fragile things are on the motor. Roadking you are a body guy, why didn't you use a body slid hammer to hooked to the crank end of the connecting rod bolts and use that well John was porta powering the piston size?
Yeah I have a big Slugger Slide Hammer!! It was stuck too bad to use that, plus it would have damaged the wrist pin and the babbitt on the rod!!☺
Those are small turkeys compared to the one where I live. They are so big they do damage when you hit one.
Yeah they were just Babies!!☺
This was the day i fixed a hydro locked engine
3:55 Just pukes oil all over the place, can't have a engine build without that happening a least once.
Yeah Buddy!! I did expect that much oil☺
Yay!!!!
Cool that what you want to see
Yeah I think we have a good engine to work with now!!☺
What a glorious mess!
Yeah Buddy!!☺
You would only have to ask me once , deep fried Turkey Breasts :))) Man that piston was rusted solid.
They were some nice Jakes a few years old by the length of the beards , they were close enough for a bow or even a cross bow
Wonder what caused it to seize
Fresh turkey for thanksgiving? lol
Someone probably just stop using it and left it in the weather!! It happens alot!!☺
Success!!!.
Yeah Buddy!!☺
Victory!
Yeah Buddy!!☺
Gapless rings..That's a big rod and slug.
That's a Big Rod and Slug!!.....Women have been telling Me that for years Mate!!☺
ROFL!!!! :)
wonder how much force you have o that
I don't think it was too much, the handle wasn't hard to squeeze at all!!☺
LOOKING AT THE SIZE OF THE PISTON AND THE SIZE OF THE PUMP PISTON .THINKING 10,000 PSI OR MORE .WOULD BE FUN TO FIND OUT
Any updates on this motor? It's almost a year
Yeah I have a few videos of it I have to post if I get time!!☺
Nice, but I can smell the Lucas oil from here!
Yeah Buddy!!☺
The red stake bed truck, a Dodge? about 1946?
53 Studebaker!!☺
Geez King, how much oil did you go through?
Alot more than I thought!! That looked like a couple of gallons eh!!☺
I have a similar hit and miss engine. and I'm having a similar problem with the side year I can't get it come off and I don't know why do you have any advice
Without physically seeing the engine I can't really suggest anything except alotta penetrating oil, a gear puller and maybe heat as a last resort!!☺
The penetrating oil might be a good idea. But the gear puller I was afraid I'd been the gear before I pull it. If I could only understand how that particular side gear comes off maybe I understand more what is stuck

Do you mind if I ask where you guys are located? Which state I mean
NJ
Finally!!!!!
Yeah Buddy!!☺
Did this engine get finished ?
Yeah, the guy that owned it put it back together, it runs great!! He reassembled it over a few weeks, that's why we didn't get a chance to film that!!☻
Just like giving birth to a baby, but you forgot to smack it on it's bottom. Good job guys! Congratulations, it's a boy!
Thanks George!! They don't call me the Engine Doctor for nothing eh!!☺
I said that, I said that, mouth piece*
Enjoyable
i see the head
Looks like a birth procedure .... ROFL!
Come to think of it .... It DOES look a bit like you RK ! ROFL! :)
