Your requests for a Nick Cave song, and this one in particular, were loud and proud. I've always been reluctant to cover his music because it sounds so perfect as it is. What could we bring to it? Tim, RL and I tried some things and we came up with this. I hope you like it.

You'd think we as society would find the beauty in what Puddles has given us! Its not that puddles is simply making covers of good songs, but he is recreating someone else's art into his own masterpieces. As I've been in the music industry as an audio engineer for 10 years Ive seen the good the bad and the ugly, but puddles he is doing something special. I wish all artist were willing to put themselves into every single song they performed. Bravo my friend, you have rekindled my love for the inspiring upcoming artist!

I wouldn't have a problem with that. Recently discovered him from his recent debut there. Had no idea what his thing was going to be when he first came on stage. Thought it was juggling or one of those nauseating mime things. Blew me away when he sang. Am now a definite fan. Hope he does well. He deserves it.

This performance of Ship Song still gives me chills after viewing it countless times! Cave's bittersweet lyrics are a perfect match for Puddle's character. Puddles's rich baritone voice is SO BEAUTIFUL and his diction is flawless, making every word stand up and be heard clearly. The soft and intimate intro that gradually builds to glorious crescendo brings me to tears every time. His movements are endearingly unselfconscious and express powerful vulnerability and honesty. Kudos to the videographer for zooming in close and capturing Puddle's expressive face. Having Puddles address the camera from multiple angles, making him seek out the viewer each time to refocus our attention, is very effective. I find myself humming this tune all of the time, which means it is imprinted in my cells. Honestly, I could go on and on about this bit of perfection! Now, I would love to hear your version of U2's All I Want is You, Puddles!

I am a huge fan of Nick Cave and I often get a bit jumpy when people try to cover him. Puddles, your cover of this Cave classic truly rivals the original. Seriously, it brought a tear to my eye. You should do more of his songs, starting with 'Into My Arms'.

Bruce Digiorgio was aware of this a few years ago...saw the video. first of all, so sorry for your loss...Jeni seemed to be a beacon of light and creativity with some fantastic friends and family around her for support! Hope you get to see him soon...and cry your eyes out! his performances are sometimes very cathartic and soul cleansing, as if a performance rights our "listing ship" of a soul and sets us back on the right course by showing us what is really important, love and shared experiences. Wow. This is so smooth, dreamy, mellow, sultry... This cover is waaaaaay more melodic than the original Nick Cave version. In fact, I never liked the original that much; and I can't get enough of this. Sung by Puddles, this is my new favorite song.

Having seen PPP and surveyed his library here, his buddy Mike said it best when he mentioned that "Elvis was an interpreter of songs, not a creator." So it goes for Puddles, dishing up musically tasteful tunes with occasional dashes of pathos, sadness, zen, humor, as well as an operatic voice with unusually clear diction as well as an eyeful of attention to the audience. Plus, the arrangements and his voice are always just spot on. Puddles, baby, I love ya~!
