    I’m 14 and I’ve nearly fully recovered and I can tell you I wouldn’t trade the ed for a single one of the memories I’ve made, relationships I’ve built with my friends and the things I’ve been able to do ❤ Anyone reading you are beautiful and make this world way better, take care of ur health and the environment! There’s just so many things to do, people to meet also, reach ur inner child’s dreams❤❤:) Recovery is the best choice for everyone, you too 💞

    The biggest reason they give you so little is because of refeeding syndrome… it’s always important to inform them what you do (don’t lie they will give you less than you need)

    It's funny, I was in rehab for alcohol when I stopped eating 15 years ago and it eventually escalated into anorexia. But when I was there the nurse weighed me and asked me "is that what you weighed when you came in?" It wasn't. I'd lost at least 7 lbs at the time but I said yeah and she was like oh okay lmao

    Would you do a video eating your hospital meal plan? Or just sharing what sort of thing was on it.

    I've been to treatment before-they put you on half/quarter portions as when your underweight your at risk to re feeding syndrome

    The whole 'minimal sugar' thing is to avoid refeeding syndrome which can kill a person. Once at a safe place with food, the restrictions are less important because the physical danger is so much less. RN x 35 yrs; restrictive eating disorder x 50+ years. I'm getting help again, and if this doesn't work, I'm toast because of chronic medical conditions related to a life of restriction (starting with my mom paying me to lose weight at age 6, when I wasn't remotely overweight).

    • @katiagardnerthorpe
      @katiagardnerthorpe  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I get that now! Before I went in tho I was always eating a lot of sugar so that’s why I was confused

    i know this was 2 months ago but im just watching this now and i have a question. do you have to be underweight to go to inpatient? 🤍

    • @katiagardnerthorpe
      @katiagardnerthorpe  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes or no! I knew some girls who weren’t underweight and went inpatient ! It depends on what your team feel you need or you can go privately x

      @@katiagardnerthorpe I was ignored my like 3-4 adults professionals cause I wasn’t underweight so now I feel I have to get worse for them to take me serious :/

      @@YouAreStarDust “health professionals” can be so ignorant it’s fucked up. Any good doctor or specialist knows that eating disorders are mental. There are some good doctors, but a lot of them still believe old stigmas and stereotypes which is rly harmful. You don’t have to be underweight to be suffering from this mentally. I’m sorry this happened to you, and hope you find someone that listens to you. Wishing you all the best ❤❤
