Oh, you found HuaHua 🤩. He is my favorite artist. I flew from Germany to China this year to attend his amazing Mars concert. His mental health trilogy might be interesting for you. 1. I really want to love this world. 2. Madhouse. 3. Conversations with martian children. Best from his 2019 Mars concerts were he performed this songs for the first time. There is actually a part zero to this trilogy. It is the song 7 Personalities. He just gave his 10th anniversary concerts last weekend at the Birds Nest. More Hua Chenyu please. ❤

I loved his sunrise concert. Watched it multiple times. Tears of joy when sun comes up. Watched all of The Singer, some interviews and livestreams. Mental health is important to me. As a young man it is remarkable how he creates songs to love that are often emotional. Love HuaHua.
I am coming to Düsseldorf in Nov. Got tickets for Dimash. 2 days before will see him in Prague. Scared of the trip since never flown or been outside of North America. Intimidating but for my mental well-being I know it will be the best therapy. Appreciate reactors, Martians and Dears and the spirit of love everyone has.

@interactionsfortes I was lucky to get a group ticket in 2023 🙂. Now there are no group tickets anymore. But we can buy tickets over Wechat/Maoyan as foreigners now. It is a hard fight so. In 2 days ( August 10th) the ticket sale for his Beijing Bird's Nest concerts in September will start.

@@biancafehn5755 I had a group ticket in 2023. Was lucky. Now there are no group tickets allowed anymore. But we can buy tickets as foreigners too now. Just that it is all in chinese. For his Hongkong concerts last May it was possible to buy tickets over a Hongkong english website too. Which was much easier. I hope I can get a ticket for a Mars concert again in the near future. It is not easy but it is so worth it. His concerts are amazing. 😮

Jessie J was Competing against "Hua Hua" in this series "Singer 2018". It is for famous singers.. Imagine Freddie Mercury competing against Bowie, George Michael and Elton John.. THAT standard. Hua Hua is the best Performer/Composer on the Planet. He is Freddie, Bowie, George Michael, Elton John wrapped in one. Spectacular. His "Dad I'm home" is 😭😭😭😭 He had a sad and bullied childhood (looked after by Nannies). He openly says he couldn't connect with people. His quirkiness is what drew you in. Hope you pursue more Hua Hua. He performs/sings Rock, Rap, Reggae, Pop, SynthPop, Electronic, Traditional Chinese...
I'd suggest his "Singer 2028" songs. He chose them.. I ORDER.. to tell HIS story to the public. Starting with "Qi Tian" (why was I born), "Child" (his lonely childhood), "Nunchucks" (his rebellious phase) and as the weeks went on, his song choices took us on the journey of him trying to fit in, his failure to fit in, his disappointment with himself and others, his search for himself... and on to.. "I am what I am" 😭 (accept me, for who I am). A genius way to tell the public who he is, and WHY he was the way he was. (He's in a happier place now, but he often asked fans to be kind to him, and, others like him, struggling with.. Life).

Hua Chenyu is a strange bird :) Even though it is a competition, he's way above everyone's likes or dislikes, just manages to clash his universe into your small world and leave with a bow, almost in excuse for the self-reflection he caused. You may want to check his Seven Personalities and Illusion And Reality, some great pieces of music and performance art.

Hua Hua is a brilliant artist. No Singer will perform this type of music in a competition. He mentioned that he joined this competition with a mission and winning is not important. In this competition, he portrayed different stages of his own life experiences, he bared his soul to tell of his loneliness, his insecurity, arrogance, anguish, struggle and the acceptance of himself. Hoping that his experiences will help others. In the 2020 competition he performed most of his own compositions while trying to bring awareness of love towards people especially those with depression problems, damage to the environment and the world at large. He can do many genres, a genius artist who will draw you into his performance. He always make you look forward to his next performance as you don't know what he'll bring next. And very often you'll say this is my favourite performance but to no end.....! Please continue to explore, you will have fun along the journey with Hua Chenyu. Thank you.

Hua Chenyu said to rearrange and perform this song was very painful for him. Because he had to go back to his dark memories of his childhood. His parents divorced when he was very little and he was living with his father. His father was always away for work. He had Nannys of course but refused them, always waiting for his father to come back. He felt like... if he can't receive love from the people who are supposed to love him the most (his parents)... how could he receive love from others? That got him into the cycle of wanted to be loved but refusing it at the same time. He said at a 4/5 year old he felt sometimes so afraid and alone. He could only go to sleep by hugging a toy gun and by putting all his superhero toys all around him. Only than he felt safe. 😢
So in this song he is conveying this emotions. Lonliness, Anger, Despair, Madness.
There is a little prestage interview where he is explaining it a little bit.
He also said that he hopes if someone knows somebody like this. People should reach out to them. Because deep in their hearts they need love.
He was lucky and made it to break the cylcle. He still has some issues with mental health and wrote 2 trilogies about it. The Mars Trilogy and the Hope Trilogy.

The Singer is a competition, but amongst professionel singers. He is an established artist.
I interpret the performance as someone logning for for human connection, whilst being frightened by allowing one self to be vulnerable. Someone coming across tobothers as if being at piece with one self on the outside, but in reality being fragile, anxious and even destructive on the inside - a lost soul. ❤

I am amazed how you just got soaked into this completely unfamiliar song and artist. Your comments are very interestimg and yes, Hua Hua was called to be a musician👍. He is a top star in China, very versatile. He can do dramatic stuff like this ( the lyrics are from a famous poem, but it is also about himself)He can rock, rap, do, pop, ballads, folk.. and mix it as well.. the importance is to express himself and share..and he has a huge fan base that he really interacts with. I see others in the commentfield are telling you more about him, it takes a while to get an idea who he is. I’ve been a fan for 5 years, its for the rest of my life❤ I suggest Seven Personalities, Here I am, Black and white artist and I really want to love this world..songs to show his versatility. Try to find videos from Hua Chenyu English Subs, so you get english subs. Thank you for an interesting reaction👍🙏♥️

Loved your video on Hua Chenyu! This guy is a musical genius who's been through his own mental health struggles but still wants to make songs that heal others. In his fourth album, he goes deep into what it's like inside his mind. There's "Seven (fold of) Personalities," where he talks about different stages of severe depression, and other killer tracks like "I Really Want to Love This World," "Madhouse," and "Conversation with Children of Mars."
Then in Album 5, he flips the script with his "Healing Trilogy," which is all about gradually getting better and feeling good. Songs like "Meet When Flowers Fall" and "Let's Go Watch Sunrise Together" give off major positive vibes. But Hua isn't one to stick to just one mood. He later came out with more contemplative tunes like "Growing Towards the Sun," "When the Whole World Forgets Me," and "Illusion and Reality."
Hua shows all sides of life-yeah, there's loneliness and tough times, but also lots of love from his fans. His music got me so hooked that I started reading stuff like "Psychoanalytic Diagnosis" just to get deeper into what makes him-and ultimately, me-tick.
Can't wait to hear more of your thoughts on his work! By the way, if anyone's looking for tracks from Album 4 and Album 5, just click my avatar or hit up the "Hua Chenyu English Subs" channel.
Cheers from a fellow academic in AI!

@@Silkytoasteryes, REN is the West's version of Hua Hua. It was Jessie J who beat Hua Hua into 2nd Place. She WAS spectacular... But Hua Hua was truly captivating. He has come so far in recent years, appearing as a Team Host on a Game Show (Ace v Ace) REALLY gave him a "supportive family". Suggest you search out Hua Chenyu English Subs TH-cam Channel. They have lots of his performances with English subtitles. I'd suggest looking at his recent "God Tree" and "Here we are" (2023 Mars Concerts), then go back to his performances on Singer 218, starting with "Qi Tian" and work through in the order he intended, which tells of his lonely and bullied childhood, through his journey over the weeks to "I am what I am" 😭👍 You'll then get a "feel" for him. Man is a Genius. And... willing to expose his inner insecurities, to shine a light on Mental Health issues to Chinese fans, asking them to support anyone THEY know with such issues.

Hua is lonely from childhood. He is brilliant in his musical creations. Cathartic. This is art. He has a great musicality. He did study music...but is naturally gifted as well. Hua does not hide his pain.
He is more avant garde and with high drama with his unique vocal style. He and Dimash are tops on my list of singers.
Dimash #1..Hua #2 and then everybody else.
Both completely fearless brilliant and excellent in skill and connectability.
Important in todays time when people are disconnected from their inner selves and others more than ever.
Hua performs full Primal Scream here.
Dimash did it in One Sky
Hua knows he is resigned to his fate of always feeling isolated even as he has a girl and a child. Its not a bed of roses but being a parent has helped him to grow up. This performance of Fake Monk was about 5 yrs ago. He just did a new Concert recently in China. His fans he calls Martians.

Someone who is well acquainted with the Buddha's teachings or Buddhist Philosophies would be able to resonate well with the lyrics of this song. The song depicts the mental struggle of a spiritually lost practitioner who in this case, is a monk. The monk is still enticed by worldly pleasures as evident in his lustful pursuit for sensual gratifications without commitments. He detests ugly things in this world while gladly embraces sensual pleasures without holding back. Clearly, these volitions go against the Buddha's teachings, whose ultimate goal is to attain liberation (Nibbana) from the endless rebirth cycle (Samsara). The part where the lyrics mentioned "when you see that I am weary, please give me a bowl of water. If you love me, please give me a kiss on the lips". I opined that this monk has gone spiritually disarray. He is still very much attached to worldly possessions and will have no qualms breaking his precepts. One can say that his mind has been preoccupied by Mara, the Evil One. In fact, the Evil One doesn't like sentient beings to be liberated. He very much wants everyone to hang around in this world so that he can exercise dominance over sentient beings through sensuality. Nearing the end of the performance when Hua collapsed on the piano, I opined that the monk is depicted to have been spiritually misguided and exhausted to the point that he has gone mad. One would have thought that he would repent from his mistakes and wake up as a different monk. But no. This is evident from the last part of the lyrics - "I want to walk from the south to the north and from day to night'. This very much depicts that the Evil One has not only preoccupied his mind, the Evil One has already conquered his mind. The Evil One and the monk are now one and the same. Earlier I mentioned the Evil One likes to exercise dominance over sentient beings by subjugating their minds through sensuality. The Evil One had in the past, at the present moment, and into the future, walk amongst all beasts, persons both human and divine, to pull a veil over their eyes. The last part of the song depicts exactly just that - "I want everyone to notice me, but not know who I am".
Evil Monk would be a more appropriate name for the name of this song. By the way, this is a cover song. The original composer and singer of this song is a Chinese rock band.

Regarding this show, iirc it's actually composed of famous and top singers who compete by showing off their very best so it's a legit gathering of talents

I think the meaning is contained in the title. In the past, Chinese Buddhist monks would make their rounds, begging for alms, and supposedly were working on transcending their egos, and all of the personal desires that go with them. Householders would respect the wisdom resulting from the monks' life of meditation and donate food. This guy is tortured by the knowledge that although he is posing as a wandering anonymous monk, he is not really making the effort to get rid of his baser desires. He only wants the good things life has to offer, but doesn't want to pay for them. He doesn't really have the "calling" to be a monk, but it's just an easy life - so he's just a fake monk.

He does not want to be the subject of the worlds projection on him, the scene and the the beyond the scene, since he does not want that to hindered his own search in regard who he is himself and how much vulnerability he will let on. The ultimate projection and protagoniste, being his wife or his lover.

Finally, after the catharsis moment, not wanting to feel someone else pain was hiding his own deep foly, so when the projections are over, The soul Hua still wonder who he is, the search goes on with more awreness.

A real monk would not want or seek any of the things brought up in the lyrics.

When you see Hua Chenyu, think of a Chinese David Bowie. He is brilliant, creative and emotional. Look for his interviews over the years, especially the ones that explain his songs and you will have a deeper understanding of the incredible man that grew out of a troubled, damaged little boy. He is very special.

This song was about a fake Tao Buddist monk which is like a split from reality because Tao Buddist religion is all about truth. He wants to be noticed and loved but not followed which is another denial of true Tao Buddhism because every master must teach, much as a Christian minister must. He is a fake monk because he’s quite insane. The lyrics explain the rest, along with Hua’s performance of a mad monk.

Thanxs Dr Nic.I understand Hua perfectly. Isn't this an x-ray of what our millennial relationships are like today? I like to walk around and I like you to see me (how many "influencers" do we have on the networks...?). But I don't want you to know me as I am. Kiss me without regretting it, but don't come to me with your pain or your tears, because I will leave tomorrow. It is the graph of "without commitment" relationships so in vogue in our times. Tonight yes, tomorrow I don't remember you anymore. Do they make us happy? No, he doesn't seem very happy. To think about it... Thanxs Hua Hua
