I'm coaching young players and we can't practice right now bc of the pandemic but I sent them your videos and they've been very helpful, thank you so much!!
The greatest video that I needed to watch! Thanks Erik! Oh I saw your interview with coach Donny and it was soo good I'm glad to know how you became a pro! Your story is soo inspiring! Keep going!!!!👏👏👏👍👍👍
I just started playing vb about 1.5 months ago and now Im in my contry's national team and i gotta admit, some of your reviews with great explanation did really helped so now im subed. Thanks, i hope i'll get a chance to face you someday...
A pretty sad fact fact that the coaches don't talk a lot for footwork my coach either but I guess with what I know from vb and from what I practise and how I play the footwork is pretty important the strong platform too. I need to work a lot with footwork I think all vb players should.
My coach was insistent on not moving your arms and making sure your feet were square and your body is right behind the ball when you pass. I’ve personally always had trouble with this as my feet aren’t very fast and I prefer to use my platform and pass outside of my body, but I definitely think being fast on your feet is still necessary!
I think everyone needs to learn how to pass a direct serve to you, then just outside of body line and learning to get behind the ball. But we've also been working with our boys to get comfortable in not ideal situations with their angles and passing outside their bodies. EG: receiving a hard line serve from zone 1-5, instead of shuffling to try and get body behind it. Drop left leg opening body slightly to the line, dipping right shoulder and creating your angle to the setter. With the goal being for dealing with those canon top spins, when you might not have enough time to really get behind it, if you're good enough with your angles and stable with your platform and feet you should be able to make an good effort on the pass to try and stay in system. Stable base, stable platform, good angle = recipe for a perfect pass
thanks so much! reps reps reps! if you can right now get in the gym as much as possible and pass a lot of balls while being mindful of your technique. :)
Hey Erik! Been following for a bit now. Enjoying your content! I need to learn how to make better contact with hits, so if you feel like doing a collab video that would be sweet! Also just watching Nebraska vs UCLA 2019 I believe and Megan Knuckles is killing it as the Nebraska Lib! Very enjoyable to watch, her angles and form are topnotch! Should do a review if you can!! Stay warm over in Russia, from a Canadian friend! Cheers
Do you know why they don’t split step at all? You have talked about your focus on a balanced split step and I’ve seen a lot of professional men’s players use it, but less women’s I think. Any idea why, Erik? Thank you for your great videos- always look forward to seeing them!!
some people use the split step and some people dont. i think it just depends on the passer. also, i think its used more on jump spin serves than on float serves.
Hi! Erik, I am a little bit confused when you stalk about how a player have her left foot behind her right foot when I see the opposite thing. Can anyone please help me clarify.
objectively speaking, the Americans are the best passers in women's volleyball. They can receive hard serves from different angles. Asian teams like Japan and Thailand are pretty good too.
i have a question: if a national team would play against a normal team like fakel or another league who do you think would win cus i think you know the none national team has more chemistry cus they play more often so i dont know.
You should really be a coach in the future. Your explanation of volleyball is unbelievably clear and easy to understand.
Thank you! I’m a young player and my coaches never really talk about footwork so this was awesome

different coaches will teach different techniques. either way, i believe that footwork is important and will help your passing!
this is great!
Really enjoy these break downs and seeing your sub count constantly growing!! Keep up the hard work, on and off the court!!
thank you so much! i will try! :)

Gratz on taking the first win of Moscow tho.
Do u think liberos should be able to serve? Why or why not?
I don’t think they should serve hahaha. I think middles should have to serve and play some defense! 😀
You should react this match because it's one of the best match in the World Cup 2019
