Utterly delightful, thank you so much for posting this. Brings back memories of being in Edinburgh in November '77, when this first aired. I first became aware of Barbara Murray thru the wonderful series, "The Bretts", also on TH-cam. She's completely charming and effervescent, but everyone was perfectly cast.
Brilliant stuff. Well written, well staged, well acted. No need for sex scenes, bad language, car chases, violence, and tedious sociopolitical messaging (well, there's a little bit of that but it's deftly done).
This turned out to be much better than I'd expected. Lady Neilson really did a good job at turning the tables, didn't she?! Thanks for sharing this little gem.
6:00 : Terry the hair stylist (Andrew Byatt) is very cute. Looking him up I see that he was born in 1954, so he would have been about 23 here. He’s still doing yeoman’s work as an actor, at what would be age 70 by now. According to IMDb his screen career started in 1965 - 1966 with appearances on a few episodes of a television series when he was around age 16. The last role listed in his filmography was as Hotel Manager in an episode of the television series _Succession._
I must admit I didn't much care for the drunk friend. If everybody refuses to invite you to social occasions there's usually a good reason for it. I've known alcoholics who think they are the life and soul of the party and anyone who doesn't like them is just a stuffy bore.
What a splendid movie. My departed wife would have loved this. Thanks.
I love this page , modern TV is rubbish so always something good to watch here👍
Elegantly written and beautifully acted.
Thanks for posting, great cast and the lovely, elegant Barbara Murray too. I very much enjoyed the acting spoken so you can hear every word.
This is a reminder of what ITV use to be good at. And this was in Granada's golden era ( 1961 1987 ).

Lovely to see Barbara Murray, she was great as Mme Gerstler in The Pallisers. Beautiful eyes 😀
Lovely characters, really enjoyed it.

That was wonderful, thank you
A wee gem--thank you.
A little gem
What a nice little story,no violence,no sex, no murder mystery, just a little episode of life 🙂

Yes, I was expecting a modern unhappy ending with the husband humiliated in some way.
I enjoyed it very much😊
Many thanks ❤

Every time Lady Nelson goes to the hairdresser her hair styles get more elaborate.
What fun!
💜🎉
amusing
Quite so
Back in the daze when everything was alwhite.
Or mostly, at least.
I know we’re supposed to sympathize and relate to the ladies in this, but I find them detestable.
now i must watch it.
You must be an Edinburgh lawyer.
