I actually ended up covering up the first row of the goals spread because it wasn’t quite pretty enough 😅 I also drew in December on the first few spreads in the back which broke the ice, as it were. I keep my CP in a tn so I put the strings in the space between the cover and spine and it’s working pretty well!
Don’t apologize. I appreciate you wanting to be private. Thanks for sharing your layouts! My CP comes in tomorrow and I’m excited to use it for the new year.
Your setup looks great thank you for sharing. I'm about to watch Catherine's video on goal planning again to get started. This area is quite intimidating especially when the goals I have this year are serious. Merry Christmas.
Good job on your setup. I’ll be adding a Current Me / Future Me section like you did. Thanks! The Hobo cousin is still my daily planner of choice, but I will be using my Commonplace Planner for Personal/Me stuff. Thinking of using the blank pages for notes I take on the books I read throughout the year. HappyNew Year!🎉 🥳
That is great to hear! I hope you enjoy creating that spread like I did. I started planning in my daily pages today, but I am struggling a little with the lines being so light 😖 It made me want to use a Hobpnichi again, but I know B6 is the perfect size for me. Maybe I just need to update my glasses 🤣 TFW!
CatspressoCo and SaltyKatie have (or are creating) covers for the full year too. Maybe they’d fit better? The B6 Stalogy catspressoco covers for the half year beautifully. I know her first design of the cover was tighter and she had it made larger to allow for room to grow but they stretch so I think she should have left it as is. Adding a piece of vellum or decorative paper between the planner and TN will help with the looseness and you can still have it pretty and minimal. Maybe that would help.
That makes sense! Thank you for letting me know about the other two that are coming out too. I will keep an eye out. In the meantime, vellum is a great idea! I'll give it a try. Thank you!
Sorry about that! Here is her latest video! I will link a few others in the description of this video as soon as I get a chance! th-cam.com/video/TD0-JCxHxsc/w-d-xo.html
Just found your channel ! When I saw gumption i immediately thought The Holiday - it’s one of my favorites ! I have the half year common planner - starts in July - I am also scared to put ink to paper but this video is very helpful ! I am also considering a Wonderland for 2024! Do you have any thoughts on Wonderland vs Common Planner now that you are six months in ?
That will ALWAYS be one of my favorite movies! I was terrified to get started in my Sterling Ink planner and I have made so many mistakes but it has so much character now. I was thinking about going back to Wonderland but it didn't have enough pages in the back, but now it does! And I wanted to leave the Sterling Ink planner because of the light grid lines and flimsy cover, but she fixed that! I am 99% sure I will stick with Sterling Ink next year. I like the paper more and I am enjoying the non stacked weekends.
@@DiaMeraz does the Wonderland have tomoe river paper? I think I heard the weekends are unstacked for 2024. I can’t wait for my common planner to build character! I’ve been binging your videos- thanks again for being so helpful
I just looked it up and you're right about the weekends. And it is Tomoe River paper in the Wonderland too, but it's thicker, not sure if they use different versions of it. I think the timeline not going all the way to the bottom is also a deal breaker for me. Have fun watching! I hope to make more videos soon. Life has been crazy! And have fun in your Sterling Ink!
I have a wonderland222 cover and a hoboncihi weeks cover that I like quality wise, but they don't fit this planner. I know a few other brands are going to be coming out with one that fits this planner, but I am not sure who has actually made them yet. I'll share when I find out 🤗
I just got my Common Planner after using the Cousin for almost 10 years. Love your setup, and will be taking some of your ideas. This may be a dumb question, but when you print out on the Tamoe Paper, do you use any special printer, or you just load your paper into a standard printer? Also, i love your month stickers? I know you mentioned you made them, but do you sell your stickers or recommend anyone else's shop? Thank you!
I'm happy you got some ideas from my video! I just load a few of the pages in front of regular paper in my epson printer. I was surprised that it handled the tomoe river paper better than it does my normal paper. It usually leaves blotches on the end of my pages 😖 As for the stickers, I don't sell them because I struggle to get them right for myself 🤣 And I attempted them because I couldn't find anything similar. If I do I will share them though!
@@DiaMeraz thanks for the quick reply! Which size Tamoe River paper did you get on Amazon by the way? Also when you tape the pages in, what type of tape do you use? Sorry so many questions!
amzn.to/3jLINgw This was the paper I purchased, but it was back in 2021. Now i really wish I had purchased more. amzn.to/3i7VUIo This is my favorite tape to use! It doesn't bulk up the planner like double-sided adhesive can. Feel free to ask away! Sometimes I don't get notified of these messages, so you can always DM me through Instagram or even email me!
I just loved everything I’m this video! Do you mind sharing the font you used for the month on one page section? I did the same thing and only printed out one December 🤣
Based on several Common Planner videos I've seen, the one concern I have is that the planner doesn't seem to fully lie flat, especially not when it's about one quarter of the way open, from the beginning. Whereas the Hobonichi Cousin (A5) easily lays flat from the get-go. My use of any planner is for highly utilitarian, not decorative purposes. So, my need for an A5 planner to lay flat, without my having to hold it down, is critical. If the Common Planner doesn't, it's a deal-breaker for me. What is your experience in this regard with the Common Planner versus the Hobonichi Cousin? Because you've used the Cousin, and are now using the Common Planner, I'd really appreciate your honest feedback. Thank you.
I honestly have no issue with the Common Planner Laying flat. I do have the original linen cover though, and it's quite floppy. Maybe yours doesn't lay as flat with the new sturdier cover? I will have to see when my 2024 planner comes!
@@DiaMeraz Thank you. I'd certainly appreciate it! But I didn't place a pre-order. I'm holding back until I know. You make a good point about the covers. In all the videos I've seen so far, people are slightly holding down the left side of the planner, and/or it's clear that it's not laying completely flat (but mostly is), like a Hobonichi; this despite the claim on the product's web page. Somehow, I sense you'll be happy with your purchase regardless. 😉
Thank you! And honestly, I just googled things like Boss Babe and then uploaded a copy to my Procreate on my iPad and traced some of the basic elements. I am horrible at drawing too!
I have two other covers, for two other planners and they slide a little, but not like this one does. I just feel that they are a little better fitted and because they are stiffer, I can slide them on more easily.
My Sterling Ink clear cover is doing the same thing. When my planner has been open and then I go to close it I have to reposition the planner every time to get it to go in. My other clear covers (Lauren Phelphs Designs) did not do this.
I just found out I won’t be able to use it in my VDS that is being made 🙁 I didn’t realize I needed to lengthen it. I think I may put pictures or a vision board on the cover like @AliBrownie did! That should help keep it sturdy 🤗
Oh no! It’s such a huge purchase, so I hope it fits. If not, I will probably switch back to my Wonderland planner. My only issue with that planner was not enough pages in the back 😟
@@DiaMeraz ok I’m sorry! The planner fits perfectly, but not as I would like with the clear cover on it. I’m sorry for the confusion! If I had to do it again I would not get the pen loop as it sits on it a tiny tiny bit, but the planner itself fits perfectly. I’m just not using the clear cover.
I put up a video (on my actual channel, not this account) talking about my planner system for the year that includes flipping through my Common Planner! th-cam.com/video/HQQCXc3zJLo/w-d-xo.html Channel name is Morgan Tries

It get's easier once you get started! You got this! 🤗
Wow, the first time I see 👀 a fellow planner using the Miracle Morning Life Savers in their planner exactly as per Hal Elrod's Miracle Morning 🌄
🤗
Great set up, slowly working on/figuring out what/how I am setting all mine up 💕🎀
Thank you! It was intimidating, but I'm glad I got it over with finally 😆
Great vidro. Could you please post the video link of current me/future me which you mentioned in the video?
Sorry about that! Here is her latest video! I will link a few others in the description of this video as soon as I get a chance! th-cam.com/video/TD0-JCxHxsc/w-d-xo.html
I think you can use a blowdryer to make the plastic cover basically "coat" the planner.
Thank you! I am going to give that a try!
2 Questions.
Does it really lay flat?
Do you have an affiliate link for Sterling Ink?
It does lay flat! And I do not have an affiliate link 😃

All sleeve covers for bound notebooks behave like that, regardless if it's plastic or fabric. Even the Hobinichi covers behave like that.

What about l for lift (weights) so you can still use w for walk?
Thank you! That will be perfect, lol. I don't know why my brain could not come up with something at the time.
@@DiaMeraz haha I can guarantee you I would not have been able to think of it if it was for myself. Brains are so weird like that 😆
On your blog you see most of the notes on the current me / future me pages. Only a couple of them are blurred. Just in case anyone wants to see 😂
Same for the goals page
I agree on the Sterling Ink cover- it seems too big or thinner or something.
Yes, I'm beginning to think I may take it off once my VDS comes in. We shall see! TFW!
